I love how you notice the "vivid" colours of the paralyze, telling us thats its a beta, not a plain alpha. Love your eye for detail 😊👍

I think the player on the right could have untapped his paralyzed creatures with maze after they assigned their damage. Makes the awesome paralyze a little worse in a heavy maze meta.

You need a GREAT side deck when you play mono coloured deck.

I believe that side-boarding for the mono black player against this particular deck was difficult, because black can do little against enchantments and its own color. Perhaps boarding in extra disks? 🤔

Great old school games, it shows the weakness of mono coloured decks: The specific lack of something, removal in the mono black's case. Underworld Dreams is such a powerful card, you can't twiddle it or use your Icy Manipulator, you have to remove or blow it up, as shown. I really like the Drain Life comeback, even if it was short-lived.

True, although we are recently seeing some mono red builds that are pretty successful . Most competitive decks play with 2 colors and splash blue power, so technically they play with three colors. Personally, I like the mono decks because they show the power and weakness of each color and how the developers of the game wanted to balance it as a whole (obviously they made blue way too powerful).

@@TimmytheSorcerer Yes, mono red is an exemption due to its massive firepower: You might be hit with 8 damage round two (Goblin Grenade + Lightning Bolt), which is pretty unique, depending on the build. I like mono decks too, I've been running and tweaking my mono black since I started playing Magic. Blue's power indeed isn't in balance with the other colours. They should have given each colour its own counter/removal instead of concentrating them with Blue (Counterspell, Force Spike, Power Sink, Spell Blast and so on ...)
