When the moment comes feel the darkness(fear, superstition, manipulation, doubt, ilusion) of emptiness as a present to be more present, to be more deeply connected with the source of all live 'who' lives in you and express through you and also with you. Breath deeply and inhale courage, wisdom, profound love and joy and be the stillness with more aliveness. I love you, because I know you love me, it's in you sustain and fuel that wonderful connection with you who lives up and down there and here with you and all of us. Feel happy of fulfill the path, to make every step of it with the consciousness, which know your truly necessities and sees thorough all "your problems" haha be deeply grateful because I can talk through more than words through you, using words!. Ultametly the oneness being will be all what it was avocated to be, and is this moment a direct channel with its destined to be. herokee heritage and am proud to take my son with me on our walks in the woods I play this and it calms our spirit. It is easy to lose touch with our roots in modern society when we unplug we return to that part of our spirit that’s connected to the earth. I am in recovery and spent 15 years as a heroin addict in and out of jail and eventually went to prison for my drug addiction. I learned a lot of self reliance but it was the connection to the earth and other people that I missed so terribly. I was incarcerated in a place where I didn’t see sunlight let alone go outside for 6 months and it was the most invigorating experience to have some sort of freedom again when I went to prison I was eventually able to walk outside even if it was on a compound and see animals again. I was reprimanded for feeding the geese and groundhogs that would wander onto the grounds. The prison guards would throw rocks at them while we tried to feed them. I have straightened out my life after the birth of my son but it would be a lie if I said I haven’t slipped since his birth I haven’t had a relapse since April of this year and everyday I fight to maintain my sobriety and freedom for my son. Alcohol and drug addiction has ravaged our people since colonization and it affects every culture there is. For me it has taken much from my life in terms of relationships, friends and ability to care for myself. I’m unsure why I am writing all of this as I find the need to tell my story as if it was unique, I want to let you know if you take time to read this and know someone who is struggling if not yourself that there is hope. That there is so much beauty in the world beyond our own struggle. Your never alone. I care about you and know that the earth does also. Take care of her too, she needs us.

It hardens me to know that there is snow wasted pain in the universe and the depths of our suffering gets us the ability to reach those who have suffered that much and in that same way. I am a recovering alcoholic and still have trouble fantasizing about the comfort I found in numbing out and I still do it with food but thanks to Eckerd Tolle and another Buddhist teacher I listen to daily; in my meditation practice; and the strength I have found through them to not drink one day at a time, I am able to slowly wake up to each morning and see a little more clearly and that has made all the difference each day. Thank you for sharing your story and I am glad people are waking up to the fact that we live on stolen territory; ion Ohlone territory and my uncle in Pennsylvania recently what a book on the Lenape group/tribe/people who lived on the land before we stole it In Harleysville Pennsylvania… Maybe I’ll hold this compassionate energy so we can give it away where it’s needed in our day

The truth of "I" can't live with "MYSELF" ... the separation is REAL!!! Freedom is realizing that "YOU" are not your "MIND" NOR YOUR "BODY"... I could listen to him talk for hours and hours. I listed to A New Earth and it just changed me entirely. I often have to re-listen to the audio book and the calmness in his voice I find incredibly grounding. The first time I listened to it, there were parts were I physically had streams of tears just run down my face... breakthroughs... but I often find that I need to re-live those breakthroughs. Otherwise, they become old and stale, somehow, sadly. The conditioning of everything we have been taught since childhood is WAY too strong. This is the way to peace and happiness. Much love to all.

He follows a course in miracles. Read it. Humans can't actually be in the present. It's not possible. As soon as you build an awareness of your thoughts, it is already become the past. What you really want is the emotion. Prioritize that, I can only be found within. The oxytocin you experience when you feel love comes from within you. The cortisol and adrenaline you release when you experience fear comes from you as well. Follow the desired emotion. Let that be your guide.

My spiritual awakening happend due to a really traumatic time in my life where i was literally at the end of my tether. I was in tears and was so low , i was praying and begging for help and for a way out of it . The next day i got out of bed and immediately started getting teary eyed again when suddenly everthing just slowed down and stopped then i felt a feeling inside me which i can only can compare to like a flower opening up inside my chest and then over took my whole body and everything around me started to glow and seemed so new and beautiful . It really was the most amazing feeling, i immediatly started searching everthing to do with awakenings as i knew it was some sort of awakening , which lead me to meditation videos and from there it has continued . My spiritual awakening happend about 5-6 years ago and i am so glad it did .

57:30 - when talking about waiting. I noticed after my awakening I was amazingly calm when driving my car. Observing the chaos around me. The impatience. Realising that this moment simply is. I cannot change the traffic. I cannot get to my destination any faster than the general flow of traffic, so I may as well enjoy the moment. I turned my music off so I could use all my senses. I realised that the road users were reflecting their emotions through their driving manner. I arrived at work in a completely calm manner. Fully at one with everything.

@@Uleyra I am not a proud person. However, if I achieve something then I will be proud of that achievement. One cannot be proud of what other people do. I applaud James' achievement in coming out of his alcoholism addiction, but I cannot be proud of it. James can be proud of it. You can say what you did, if you are just using the word even though it does not make sense; however, it is really bad when someone says "I am proud of having born in some country", and there is a feeling in his body as a consequence. It's bad because then that person is becoming proud. One can use the words in life as long as there are no sensations in one's body as a consequence of using them. The real danger is when you use the words and they do cause a sensation in your body. If there is a sensation in your body when you use them then the emotions are feeding into your mind, and consequently you lose mindfulness.

My “separation” came at age 12. I had attempted suicide twice by then. I realized I must ultimately parent myself throughout my life, in other words, save myself. There was the person who experienced trauma, and the other self, who became the caregiver. I have not yet achieved peace, but I have survived bad circumstances, and certainly become more spiritual.

Diane Thomas I’ve had a difficult time with reparenting. I adopted a strategy of being trying to be ‘perfect’ to avoid physical abuse as a child. My father’s extreme violence was inconsistent and therefore unpredictable. As an adult I was diagnosed with an immune disorder (insufficient antibody production), that often results in severe illness. Despite my insight that my illnesses were not my fault, and my father’s rage was partially based on his concern for me (irony) I’ve found it profoundly difficult to compartmentalize or separate my inner parent who wanted to protect me, from an inner parent who caused great pain. About 10 years ago I was in the hospital and I asked my doctor what I did wrong. He said “you did nothing wrong, you have a disease”. The integration of a genetic disease with a mentally unstable parent who exhibited horrible behavior to protect me. I always suffered from disease related illness symptoms and sometimes the additional pain of being beaten. If the disease related illness is not extreme, it’s easier to separate. When I’m very ill, I am less able to separate. If anyone has ideas I’m certainly willing to let go of the guilt, but I’m not sure how... it seems like it ought to be trivial to separate abuse from illness...

The best part of Eckhart is that there is so little drama in his spiritual talks. Even the pauses he gives are not dramatic. He is never trying to build up the talk just stating facts . It took Mooji to get me to fully appreciate what Tolle is teaching. Now I can directly experience what he talks about - for anyone who is struggling like I was (for years) here is what works 100% of the time for me: Place your awareness gently on the sensation of life in the body. There is a current that flows in us that is peaceful, enjoyable, not boring or elusive. Start there and it expands into being able to notice thoughts, worries even pain without being pulled all the way in. I’m in mourning for my partner who died in April. I can feel the grief and anxiety are there but they do not run my life any longer. I’m not enlightened or anywhere near the masters but “my” life has joined Life and it’s a much much better way to live.

It happened to me in May of 1986, I had “woke up” or better yet came to out of another black out. I’m in my “drunk” chair on another sick Monday morning. I’m covered in blood where I had fallen on my face and broke my two front teeth and had cut my lip in the process. As a last resort I had been holding the thought of a treatment center in my mind, not really wanted to quit drinking but knowing something had to change! So I find myself in a 30 day program, going to meetings and classes not really participating just sort of hanging out. In the meantime my lip had swollen up because I had a chip of tooth in it so they took me to a dentist. The receptionist hands me a first time patient form and I’m beboping along answering questions, yes no yes yes then I get to a question that stopped me.... are you being treated by a doctor now! I contemplate this question for a period of time, maybe 5 or 10 seconds and I finally answered yes. Of course the next question was WHAT FOR!!! After another pregnant pause I wrote down alcoholism!!! I felt a presence somewhere inside of me jump for joy and shout YES... finally! I tingled all over and felt a warm feeling go all through my body, the best way I can describe it was that it felt like I pee’ed in my britches! My eyes watered up and the rest of the day was a great feeling. I haven’t had nor desired a drink since, I go to bars now if the wife wants to or if I’m by myself I will sit at the bar and eat. The desire for alcohol was taken from me in that split second!

Oh my goodness. Your may 1986 sounds like what happened to me just a few days ago. Blacked out drunk, smashed my face and now after owning a relatively attractive face (according to feedback) I now sport a permanent scar down the side of my face. Literally 12 hours ago after waking up in a full blown panic attack....I feel that a 5 year unhappy cycle is coming to a close. I’m finally turning the corner and releasing the drugs and drink that have, at some point or another, dominated my life. Sorry but your story shocked me to the core in how much it resonates with me. Once one is truly enlightened, it becomes the most weightless and effortless action. And that is not true, not everyone has moments of enlightenment, one who is enlightened operates in an awareness and heightened Sense of being that can only come after divine and mystical experience. Enlightenment is a true divine shift in one’s consciousness to a dimension of higher state of being. You’re idea of enlightenment is not understanding of Its true nature which is supersedes to a level much more profound than you’re conscious of.

Sounds like you created the conditions which happened to me as well. My best guess? You were accidentally dosed with an MAOI. I am leaning toward a byproduct of a combustion process like an exhaust or a fireplace. The period of time sitting in the boat allowed your body to produce a naturally occurring psychoactive chemical which was circulated into your brain. Normally your body deactivates this chemistry within minutes. The MAOI extended the feeling allowing your mind to settle and your anxiety to drain away. Peace to you...

We stopped baking and looked at each other. "Anything left to say?" I asked. " He paused, then said, no. He asked me the same question and I had the same sense: we were current with each other. We smiled, laughed a little and went on making cookies. When they were done we took them with our coffee to the porch swings. No words. We were content together and, strange as it sounds, we hadn't awaited incineration with fear, we went on living step by step and that was all....

I believe Tolle's message is simple. Over thinking the message will complicate the matter. For those who find fault, relax. For those who find it useful, and enjoy living life "now" practice. I don't believe Tolle is doing this from greed ( The price for " The power of now" $15 ) nor do I believe that he is a prophet, or saviour. I believe he is a good person who happened on a hidden human truth, and feels compelled to share it with the world. The best way to keep peace of mind is to share peace of mind... May everyone enjoy the moment. ...

Thanks for this comment. I discovered Tolle 2 weeks ago and listening to him talk has given me transformational insights. Then I bought some of his books and after reading one (New Earth) have been feeling a bit like the honey moon is over. But I'm used to approaching anything I read from a skeptical/intellectual point of view. When I listen to him talk I understand him, when I read it in a book perhaps I overthink it and it loses its magic. He says himself that he is not coming from a scientific view point....but it's hard for me to process things any other way.

13:08 Dimension of thinking and dimension of awareness… every thought is a thought form, we believe it is us… with the big Self this is about the experience of your mind and body (your home). 20:06 You can’t let yourself out of prison if you don’t realize you’re in prison…when the habitual and unconscious compulsive labeling no longer operates, that is where compassion lies of ourselves 53:00 The step you make this moment is the most important thing you can do 56:00 Make an activity an end to itself 1:23:00 I could focus on my breath instead of being in my thoughts…

Thank you so much for posting this talk. It’s marvelous and really gets into the quantum of it all. It also reminds me of deep conversations I’ve listened to, and engaged in, or began and had, while being comfortably high on marijuana back in college, and years later. (I couldn’t smoke it day in and out, as my mind naturally goes into this deepness, and my body feels deeply.) I feel like I’ve been listening to one of those conversations and was able to follow the whole way, even when Eckhart “lost my train of thought” briefly, lol, as that happens when these layers of going deeper and discussing it occurs. Such a great talk and host interviewer! Thank you, Dr!

We are new generation. We chose Love and Compassion over War and Competition. We don't follow the Eye for an Eye rule. We chose planetary development together instead of bickering among nations and ethnic groups. We chose to work together. We chose new ways because for the old ways to die out. We give forgiveness instead of revenge. We are changing the world one good deed at time. We are everybody for everyone can become what we are. We are kind. We are here for our time is now.

Thanks for this platform. I used to think all sages and teachers are all in history and had wept a fortnight when I realized I missed 10 years of meeting J Krishnamurti. Now I realized there are so many sages/teachers everywhere. Eckhart is like a Corpus Callosum cell that unites the pragmatic (Yan) and yielding (Yin) cultures of the East and West hemispheres, a function that's so needed for our awakening humanity. He is my fat Buddha, and I so enjoy his humor and humility. There is another very awakened teacher, Thomas Campbell, that's more on the scientific side but equally inspiring. Wonder if you consider inviting him and spread the Truth? Keep up the good works!
