For those of us living in Florida it would be very helpful if you would give the names of the parks or campgrounds you stay in. Most look very similar and the signs are seldom shown.
@OutonaLimbwithKym6 ай бұрын
Great idea! I keep forgetting that!!! This particular video was more about the awning. The video before this shows the campground I was at. Crescent Fish Camp in Crescent City, Florida - it was so awesome. I love it there so much!! (I will definitely share my location more - thank you for reminding me!!)

Kim, you need to read the instructions as they tell you the order in which to install it. The more you do it, the better you will get at it. You can do it on your own. These awnings are best to use 2 tie downs on each end during normal use as they don't like any wind at all. Always take them down when your leaving it or going to sleep
@OutonaLimbwithKym6 ай бұрын
Thank you!! I rec'd a product today and guess what? I read the instructions!! I really did and it went together great. Can't wait to share. And thanks so much - I'll get better at it!! And I'll never leave it up again! Promise!

Zippers break. You can use the awning tie down strings to tie a broken awning bag closed. When releasing the velcro bands holding the awning inside the bag, you might consider releasing the end, then the other end then the middle.
@OutonaLimbwithKym6 ай бұрын
Oh, thank you!!! I appreciate the advice. I'll definitely try that next! 💙

Perhaps you could mount the awning on the driver's side of your suv. That way you could get into your car top carrier (?)
@OutonaLimbwithKym6 ай бұрын
I thought about that, but my bed is permanent, and it's behind the drivers side. I may get rid of the top box and put my rack back up, and use rifle boxes. I think it'll look cooler. Lol. Thank you for the suggestion.

Why in the world would you leave a tarp up during a storm, especially when you knew what would happen. I just don't get it.
@muzzable6 ай бұрын
I have to agree. Not only a storm but tornado watch. Glad you are okay
@OutonaLimbwithKym6 ай бұрын
Did you watch the whole video? I wasn't notified about the tornado until 3am. I wasn't about to get out of my vehicle and mess with poles while it was lightning. That night, the forecast called for 45% chance of rain.

@muzzable Thank you. Had I thought a tornado was coming, I would have gone home.

Don’t think it’s designed for windy days as even on large motor homes and fifth wheels common sense should tell us to put awning down!😊

One final thought: perhaps it would be easier, and cheaper to just move your bed. It can be moved and made permanent on the other side, perhaps. The cost and effort of redoing the top... well, whatever.
@OutonaLimbwithKym6 ай бұрын
It can't be moved. It was a full size in the beginning, and I had it cut. So it's cut around the left wheel well. And I need to get in and out from the right side for when I'm curb stealth parking.

No one wants to watch another awning setup. LOL
@samanthaoneill86285 ай бұрын
We have a brand of awning in Australia which is the exact same. When I put mine up I angle one of the poles down lower so if there is rain, and I'm not talking tornadoes lol. It just runs off the slant. Maybe that might help.
@OutonaLimbwithKym5 ай бұрын
I have since started doing that. It makes a huge difference!!!!
@samanthaoneill86285 ай бұрын
Also, when you unzip the bag, un roll the awning enough to then put it over the bag/ roof to pull out the side poles. Then grab the awning and roll it out. You might find that helps, and you don't put too much pressure on you side poles. Good luck my friend
@OutonaLimbwithKym5 ай бұрын
@@samanthaoneill8628 I'm always afraid the side poles are going to poke through the awning. The points are sharp. It's a great awning, but one person can be tricky.

sorry you had a tornado warning and a broken awning. Thankfully, they replaced it. You are a hoot!! Dancing while taking it down!!! Lol Maggie was so quiet while you were setting it up at the campground! She's a good girl!!!

You still need to slant the poles so that the awning is at a slight slant down at the end.

Kim I love you girl! You are a hoot! Keeping it real! ☮️❤️☀️Don’t forget to angle a corner down so water doesn’t pool on top of the awning. Also you might want to put out 2 lines out on each corner for more support.
@OutonaLimbwithKym6 ай бұрын
Oh, thank you!!! I never did know that about angling the corner!!! My previous awning was slanted to begin with. Good to know!! Thank you!!! And yeah, both corners need to be tied down. I hate that part though. I can never get the cord snug enough!

I have the same one ...Im planning on adding clear shower curtains n hooks to make it enclosed when it's raining n keep the heat in when it's cooler out Its like wrangling a toddler that awning but it's great to have 😂

Great idea! I thought the same thing!!!! At least I still have the top from the old awning. I cut it off the track yesterday and I'm going to see if I can use it as a side panel!! I love the shower curtain idea!!!

It was a bad night. I had to move into the center of the house and try to sleep in the hall, which of course I couldn't. I think unless dead Winter, we have to assume it's risky leaving out anything.
