Enjoyed your tutorial. I have eight heritage Hornby locos from the eighties, so I might give the DCC task a go.

Thank you so much for explaining how to do this DCC conversion. I now understand where each wire goes. My DCC Class 110 will be running at LAST. Thank you. Richard.

Conversion guides for the Class 110 are very rare. Someone on my forum was looking for one. The one I had had lost it's photos. Thanks for posting. :-)

Very nice "how to". If you have not used them so far have a go at using the 8PIN Socket, which I feel is very useful if I have issues with a decoder at a later date, especially if I install directional, cab or coach lighting. If you are going to install coach lighting at a later date try connecting all 3 together using twin micro plug and socket with 0.05mm wireing. Add extra pickups and a stay alive circuitry...Simon

Brilliant Class 110 Calder Valley units. These should be retooled by Bachman with Dcc and lighting.

Hi Br Blue, It is old but a truly excellent Unit and yes i fully agree they need to be retooled.

Cheers Christopher, I am glad you understood everything, I tried to keep it as simple as possible so even a total novice (like myself lol) will be able to do the same.

Video helped a lot however I'm having trouble. I have, same decoder, motor and controller as you however once set up my loco seems to.. ignore commands from the controller. Won't slow down / speed up when told, or stop either! Is there anything I could have missed? Resistor has been removed too. Thanks!

Try a decoder reset to see if it helps, access CV 8 and set it to valve 8 to reset the decoder to factory state. Let me know if this helps.

@@BarnabasJunction should have mentioned mate, that was first thing I did, on my decoder it's set to "4" to reset... Still won't work.. Uploading a video now to show the issue ..

Good informative video mate, just decided to dcc all my locos as i renovate them. Do you use Lenz all the time...minefiled trying to decide what decoder to buy.

Hi Paul, many thanks. The decoder fitted was a LaisDCC 4 function 8 pin, you will find a link to where i get them from in the video description. I have mainly used these throughout my fleet with the odd Gaugemaster and Hornby decoder but I have found the LaisDCC decoders to be the most reliable of them all.

Thanks for that mate, much appreciated.

New To DCC - Noticed You Mentioned How The Power Lines Going In Must Be On The Correct Track ? My Question Is If You Then By Accident Put It On A Track Incorrectly (Wrong Way Round) What Happens ? - Does It Still Work, Fry The Controller, No Control Ect ?.. I Know With DC Tracks The Direction Would Just Be Reversed ? Many Thanks For The Video As Looking To Update To A DCC System

Hi again, just realized the decoder is a 2 function decoder, which limets you to what you can do it you want cab, coach and directional lighting, or is it 4 function?...Simon

Hi, I know what you mean about reliability, Hornby are not so reliable. Just looked at the link, for £10 they seem good decoders, I do like the stay alive capabilities, which I always use if the option is available.
