Very cool review! But there is still one question I have: is this flashlight good for finding uranium or uranium glass?

I always liked the tiny UV flashlights you can wear on your keys, i just never found any good ones to buy and this one looks too big for that. Btw cool that youre also from europe, did you buy the TN12 from amazon?
@EDCGadgets8 жыл бұрын
+magicshon It is definitely too large for a keychain. This flashlight focuses on good battery life (18650 battery), and long reach (super focused beam). It is a bit hard to find everyday application for such a beam, but I can imagine it as a great light to track down bleeding prey while hunting. Or maybe for engineers searching for liquid leaks on tanks. I purchased my Thrunite TN12 (2016) from Ebay, I belive the european amazon stores have too high prices, and it came with free shipping from China. For me that 3 weeks of wait was worth to save 10-15 USD :) In a few weeks I will review the Thrunite TN12, it is an absolutely amazing flashlight. Maybe a bit later I will allso review the Thrunite TC12, it's very hot topic now, but it's a bit too expensive for me right now.
@magicshon8 жыл бұрын
You said it had a two hour run time, that doesnt feel very long but if it is really bright then i guess its okay, UV LEDs need more power than white ones... I started saving money for the TN12 before even the 2016 version came up and after that i decided to wait for the TC12 to see the reviews on it and so far i dont like it too much, maybe there will be a second version of it eventually - i like the modes of the TN12 2016, it seems to switch brightness just right but the TC12 has a too high high mode again like the TN12 had and also a terrible runtime for firefly, im also not a big fan of rubber covers.. Amazon really seems to be mroe expensive and sometimes doesnt even ship to my country, however trhunites website offered free shipping im just patiently waiting for the right time to buy
@EDCGadgets8 жыл бұрын
+magicshon It is powerful as heck, indeed! When I shine it on my palm, it feels warmer than my Thrunite TN12 on Turbo! I mean, yeah it does not seems powerful, because it is UV radiation, but you get the point. I agree with you, the TC12 is not an enormous step forward to justify that +30$ price, compared to the TN12. For some people, the new focused LED will be worth it, and of course recharging on the fly is great. There is however one enormous flaw of the TN and TC series: we cannot override the mode memory to start in the lowest mode. For me, it is almost a deal breaker, because I have to keep in mind, what was my last mode, when I want to turn the flashlight on inside a low profile environment (cinema, car, bedroom).
@magicshon8 жыл бұрын
Oh i didnt even know that! That would bother me a lot too, i am one of the people who use the lowest settings the most often, all of the other bigger thrunite flashlights have a different mode button that allows you to go right into the firefly by holding it, i hope they get it right next time lol about the price i think it is allright, it costs exactly the same as the TN12 U1 charger bundle, as a person who doesnt have an charger or 18650 battery yet the fact that they sell TN12 for fifty bucks is useless for me and i was looking at the price of this bundle, if you compare them, its a pretty fair price i would be ready to pay if the light had better specs, the only difference is inside or outside charging and the price stays the same -but then again, the U1 also allows you to use it as a power bank - i just feel like they released the TC12 too early, its like an unfinished game waiting to be patched
@EDCGadgets8 жыл бұрын
+magicshon Indeed, I think Thrunite tried to hurry too much to release the TC12 for Christmas, but they missed it anyways. Just look at the runtimes on the official site: more hours on "high" than on "turbo"? This is very unfamiliar to Thrunite. Still, I predict that it will be a trending light, I will definitely want to review it, but I don't expect it to change the EDC world.

This a UV-A light. You need a UV-C light to kill germs.

Protected batteries may not fit in all chargers but they fit in the light fine.

a little to big for my liking. I am looking for a smaller one to attach on my keybar. another good informative video :)
@EDCGadgets8 жыл бұрын
+dseed norway This flashlight is indeed way too large for a keychain. I belive the current design (with the focused beam) makes it a perfect blood tracker for outdoor. It also has a decent runtime, so it is definitely made for the "hardcore" UV users. I will look around online, I might find a quality UV flashlight with similar size as the Thrunite Ti3! That would be interesting.
@dseednorwayn478 жыл бұрын
If you do, please let me know? And btw, I am in the middle of doing some research and have a quesion for you. Have you tested any thermal handheld add on for mobile phones? I just got hold of Seek CompactXR and Flir One for Iphone and doing a review of them soon btw.
@EDCGadgets8 жыл бұрын
No experience with thermal monitors yet, but the Seek and the Flir One both look really exciting. I mainly focus on indoor utlity gadgets, at a later point I might transform this channel into a multi-topic indoor-outdoor channel, and will consider similar items for reviews :)

I'm currently looking to invest in a 365nm light, and I am leaning toward this light. However, with it only using one battery, how do you recharge it? All of the chargers I currently have require 2 batteries to be charged at a time.
@dann9047 жыл бұрын
uh....buy a second battery and charge two at a time....really? perhaps you shouldn't be playing with batteries.

Ah, Convoy S2+, the apple of Budget Light Forum's eye. So many options for build, but all of them consistently good. Were I to choose my first _good_ reverse-clicky light, it would be this one in Warm White. Well, it or the *C8. EDIT 17/10/17:* I now have two S2, a C8 and an S2+ on the way. Folks, Biscotti firmware is the way to go!
@EDCGadgets8 жыл бұрын
+Gunner193 Heck yeah, I am really surprised for the build quality for $20! Perfect threads (with some light grease), impeccable anodization, Nichia LED, tailstand with responsible backward clicky, and the internal contacs are very clean, just like a Nitecore/Thrunite/Fenix. I just wish if it had a less focused beam, it literally burns my hand, so focused (feels like a 1000-1500 Lumens "normal LED")
@DinnerForkTongue8 жыл бұрын
EDC Gadgets Well, it _is_ ultraviolet light, the kind responsible for skin burns, being emitted in direct drive from an 18650 battery...
@EDCGadgets8 жыл бұрын
+Gunner193 Just popped into my mind: if you like Convoys, you gotta check this out: www.aliexpress.com/item/JAXMAN-E2-Nichia-219B-18650-LED-flashlight-torch-High-color-rendering-index/32601073098.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.20.p8vSFg Now that's what I call value! I belive it is the same body, including a Nichia 219B LED with 3 modes (always starting low) for 16$! Mine arrived just a few weeks ago. I'm sure you will love the review of it, it is amazing. (and pretty bright for a Nichia)
@DinnerForkTongue8 жыл бұрын
EDC Gadgets Never heard of this brand. And to be fair, Simon, the man behind Convoy, does pretty much this price (under US$20) for the S2+ from his own store, plus a whole plethora of available modifications. I'm getting a warm white sample (likely with a good Nichia 219 variant installed) from him in the future, closer to the middle of the year. Thanks for the plug, tho, it's always good to survey prices :D
@tennicktenstyl7 жыл бұрын
How did you get the biscotti firmware on those lights? You requested it from Simon or does it come by default? I just recently ordered the S3, but want to keep it consistent with the older firmware on all my flashlights. But I also want to buy another S2+/S6/S8 with the biscotti firmware, so that's why I'm asking. Simon should put all the options on AliExpress store, choose the driver, the firmware, the tint, tailcap button style and such, but it would become custom flashlight shop and probably get expensive lol
