What the Heck is a Convoy Anyways? | Convoy S2+ Overview

The Convoy S2+ has become a phenomenon among the flashlight enthusiast community, and in this video I explore the light and its various features.
The part where I said check the description is referencing a thread change that convoy is currently making. They are switching all the S2+ lights over to a new square thread. This means that old and new lights will no longer thread together but lights from here on out should have better square threads.

Great summary. I've been collecting Convoy lights for about 2 months, and I haven't had a single issue with any of them yet. They're so affordable, and they're a great way to expand your collection of leds. I just got a C8+ in SST20 and this thing is amazing too, for only $4-5 more than the S2+. I haven't taken it out in the dark yet, but across my house I can tell it will throw as much as I would ever realistically need it to. I have a W1 green on the way, and that one I'm expecting to be hilariously tight and bright for the money.

The S2+ is the only torch I own two copies of and actually use both. The SST20 in warmer CCTs is indeed good if you can escape the green shift lottery, but I felt it was too throwy on my S2+, so I put a 30º TIR on it in place of the reflector. Now it's a flooding wonder. For reflector usage, my favourite LED has got to be the Nichia 219C, the emitter size balances flood and throw beautifully.

Its a brand creates by a members of budget light forum.. its a first cheapest lights that produce 1k lumen back at 2015.. during that days even a expensive surefire and streamlight only capable make their product at only 300-600lumen.. the convoy also available on just a body for those who like to build their own lights.. if you want to buy a s2+, better just go to sst40 version, 1800 lumen at that pocket size.. but now it have many others budget price light than convoy that produce more performance such as from sofirn, astrolux ea01, lumintop at $50 range.. its definetely worth it and make me regrets buying a $400 surefire before knowing about those brands.

Got my first s2+ today and it definitely got the mangled white box treatment lmao but this baby shines bright. Also got a astrolux mini and fireflie mule in today and waiting on a c8 and a lumintop fw3a. I turned into a flashoholic real fast.

Every single Convoy I ever got, from my first M1 to my newest S21A, has had the "mangled white box" syndrome. Luckily that ends as soon as they leave the box and go into my pocket 😆

I just recieved mine today. A couple questions. Mine has the sst40, 1800 lumens. Do the reccomend using cr 123's in a pinch or only 18650's. Also where do I go to purchase things to modify the light. Great video btw

Do not use cr123s in place of an 18650. The light has a driver that is designed to operate around 4.2-2.9 volts, which is what a single lithium ion cell produces. Using 2xCR123s would double the voltage and fry the light. There is an 18350 tube you can get to shorten the light and use 18350 cells in it. I'm not sure if a CR123 cell would fit in one of those tubes or not. I think CR123 cells are technically 16340 cells (16mm diameter, 34mm long) so they will probably be too small. They should have the correct voltage though. You can purchase things to customize Convoys either from my store mohrlumens.com (if you live in the US) or from convoy.aliexpress.com. If there's something I don't have, aliexpress will have it but shipping can take a long time.

Is it normal for it to get super hot? Almost cant touch it because it is too hot. Is it normal?

It's normal for it to get hot if you're running it on the higher brightness settings. Most of them don't have temperature control. They won't get hot enough to damage themselves but they will get far too hot to hold if you let them. Some newer models of Convoy lights have temperature regulation. They will still get hot, but not hot enough to burn you.

Yes you can. It has a spring in the front contact, so button-tops are unnecessary.

Mode memory can be turned on and off with the typical driver (Biscotti/12 Group). There is also a 4 mode driver which is really popular and it has mode memory which cannot be disabled.

I prefer 21700 size flashlights because they can also take a 18650 battery - while the converse is not true. A 18650 flashlight cannot take a 21700 battery.
