@@einfachorangensaft4879 saving water by using Olive oil? I doubt that saves money or the planet! :-) If you use a sufficiently large pan with sufficient water, pasta doesn't stick. By way of example, the pasta I buy recommends 6 litres per 500g. That's a big pan (pasta pot). I can get away with much less and it still doesn't stick (ever), as long as it is swimming in plenty of water. That's why Italian pasta packets don't tell you to add olive oil to the pot.

You wake up in the middle of the night, feeling a strange sense of dread. You look at the clock, 2:36 am. You listen closely, but nothing seems out of the ordinary. You try to fall asleep again, but something still feels off. You bolt upright as you see Gordon Ramsay materialize in front of you, and you are dragged into the kitchen. He makes you an offer. He will let you live, but only if you can make him a dish he likes. You slave over the stove for hours, slow cooking a perfect rack of lamb. As you present it to him, you notice with horror a look of rage upon his face. The last thing you hear is a thunderous road. *"WHERE'S THE LAMB SAUCE!!!"*

Gordon, you can’t imagine how much esteem of you I have and how much I admire you, not even mentioning how long I’ve been following you. But please, for the sake of everything that’s beautiful in the World, stop pouring olive oil directly into the pot! There should only be water in it, salted obviously. Then, you let the oil slightly fry in a dedicated pan where you can add any seasoning you prefer like garlic, sauce, onions etc ... Source: I’m Italian. 🇮🇹

I Love Gordon very much, and he is one of the best, if not the best chef, but as an Italian I have to say... Olive oil in the water for the pasta doesn't go. 1. It is a waste of precious oil, 2. If you don't want your pasta to stick you put the sauce right after removing the water from the pasta, 3. When the pasta is oily, all the sauce will slip from it. Thanks and have a good day

I've got a secret tip for you in exchange for your ear Dr. Ramsay. My secret pro tip for invigorating jasmine rice is to use 1-2 tbsp of coconut oil with chicken stock and 1-2 tbsp of yellow curry and slap in a bit of frozen peas juts as she boils. Finish with salt, and flavours are such that no one could have predicted but everyone loves. See if you can use that template as a springboard. Try some cumin, ajwain, or mustard seeds or something for a secret bonus fragrance. And sorry, yes everyone knows curry rice, but who actually does it?

Everything he said about pasta is wrong: you don't need to add oil in the water, just remember to mix with a wooden tool every min or two and the pasta will be perfect (remember to taste it, don't trust the mins on the pack too much). The salt need to go in the boiling water before the pasta and no need to add oil, salt or pepper after, it's good only if you want "pasta in bianco" (literally white pasta and nobody wants that in Italy, it's an hospital dish) ps: I'm italian ;)

Hey Gordon, thanks near infinite amounts for making these basic composition vids, but I want to hear you mention Jacques Pepin's name so a generation of people can know to watch his videos too. I know it sounds weird to cross promote for no reason, but I consider him like the Bob Ross of cooking. He is such a beautiful man and his mouth waters when hes talking about stuff, and his dishes taste amazing, and his techniques are amazing too--I'm sure you recall. And those desserts he makes... anyway whatever, greetings from Canada as usual :) I gotta watch me some Julia Child and Jacques again soon, and of course all your videos too, thats the point for me. Why don't we just watch all of them :)

yes, the fucking oil swims on top and has absolutely no contact to the pasta below surface whatsoever. on the other hand, this guy has 25 years experience of daily professional cooking, 16 hrs a day so multiply by 2 for double shifts. he probably knows what he's talking about. I suppose.

@@alensabu1641 yes. All the oil does it float to the top. If you cook pasta correctly it won't stick. There is a reason every other big time chef laughs when people put oil in the pasta water. It was a myth created like 30-40 years ago when people didn't know much about pasta. Anyone who does it now is just refusing to change their ways.
@clockwerk853

@@noledge18720 It isn't that hard either to avoid sticking, the most important part of cooking pasta is the second you put em in, if you leave them after that they will 100% stick. So if you have a good amount of water, space and moving em at the beginning. They won't stick.
