Brilliant video. I’ve just bought a Minimo and have a good collection of thermos flasks as well. Videos like this one could help a lot of people with the rising cost of living at the moment. Doesn’t have to be this combination, you could show people how to cook really cheap and fast on a “Normal camping stove” as well. Improvise, adapt, overcome 👍👍👍 😉

Great use for the thermos flask. I usually fill mine (on a camp) with 'special-brew' ice cubes with a dash of Jack Daniels. Everything I cook tastes great after I've emptied the flask.

I don't normally make comments but this was a realy good recipe Paul The only changes I made was to prep the veg before I started the hike Saves space in the bag and easier when it is cold or wet (Scotland) Instead of tomato puree Used a sachet of tomato source

It’s great to see how different people approach meals to suit their needs and wants while in the outdoors. Interesting take on this meal, looked bloody lush and it’s great to see more people embracing the ‘process’ when it comes to cooking in the outdoors.

Awesome Paul, I'm constantly correcting people who say jetboils are only good for boiling water, I've had most models of the jetboil and the minimo is the best, I've even cooked fresh popcorn in it with cinnamon oil.

I've cooked everything possible on my Soto (including boiling water) & it cost me £43. You're seeking ways of justifying the £100+ price tags. I can cook meat in my kettle, but it isn't designed for such tasks.

@@markatchison9974 I'm not trying to justify anything, I paid £40 for my minimo, it works well for cooking, the simmer control is excellent.

Paul, I was so excited by the use of a food flask for cooking I went out this afternoon and bought one. This evening I cooked your Chorizo Jambalaya (substituted chicken for the smoked sausage as I was in the kitchen) and it was delicious - a previous comment said they don't eat that well at home! I agree! This has really opened up the world of one burner cooking for me and adds yet another layer to the pleasure of camping. Thank you!

I’m thinking of investing in one of those vacuum sealers so I can prepare a meal at home, vacuum seal it, in a bag and then freeze. For those single overnight trips you can set off with the meal still frozen and then do a boil in the bag when you land at your camp. Great recipe Paul - Tnanks for sharing.
@TheRowls
@TheRowls 2 жыл бұрын
if you get some Nayar bags off Aliexpress, you can cook, heat seal (I use my vacuum sealer to do this), then freeze - that's what I do. when out camping, just heat the Nayar bag in water for about 7 mins, job done. Be careful with vac sealing wet products, as they will wreck standard vac sealers, so a little tip, freeze first in a takeaway container, once frozen, then seal.

My co-workers are getting on the Jetboil and spirit stove train. If I'm not camping, I bring them to work and cook my lunch up in 15 to 20 minutes. No sense in letting them sit around waiting for the next trip. After seeing me have a cook outside or in the backroom, one by one, they're buying some kind of stove. No more microwaving when you can chop up some fresh veg and fry up, boil or warm up some meat or eggs or rice and have a good lunch.
