You would make a good addition to the vandweller community and lifestyle because you like being outdoors so much. We might sleep in a van but we basically live outside. That doesn't mean we are homeless, our home is the van. Its a great life but it is hard in summer for those of us without a.c. BTW the food you cooked looks delicious

That was an example of a perfect meal for me. I think that steak was more on the medium side, which is my preference. Canned green beans and powdered mashed potatoes, excellent. No bullshit camp cooking. Love it.

That was so awesome! I never carry cast iron but I grill my steaks on a grill or a hot, flat stone. And I use Harley's seasoning, from Texas. It makes the flavor of beef (or chicken) really pop. But wait, was that a kitchen steak knife?

@@JunkyardFox thanks man theyre great knives. I had to hone and strop them some out of the box because they were pretty dull which was kind of a bummer since everyone said they come super sharp. But they did sharpen eaisly and theyre cutting very good now.

@@JunkyardFox it wasnt really a big deal, i mean they still cut out of the box but they couldnt shave and the ripped paper more than cut it. But a few passes on each knife and now they're hair popping sharp.

Now that's a steak. My simple steak is ribeye with sea salt, pepper, fresh garlic and a small square of butter. Medium rare is the best.

Cool vid!. As for me I gotta go with a T bone steak med well on Mesquite wood and the side dish a twice baked potato and a mix of steamed veggies with melted butter on the side for my steak and a ice cold beer.

I like cooking and eating T bone steak, just some simple seasoning. Also not a steak but I like Mexican chorizo wrapped in aluminum foil and let cooked slowly in the ashes of the campfire , along with potatoes also cooked this way

It’s been a really long time since I’ve spent any time out there. Gonna plan a trip for next year I think. We do have a baby so we will see how he does. good but please highlight the El Paso thing. Add jalapeno, red chile, green, ancho, or something to make it El Paso. To the steak, to the potatoes. Red chile on the mashed potatoes, come on, man. Red chile on mashed is better than gravey. Take advantage of your El Paso roots and send them to the world.
