For baking powder versus baking soda, I used to get confused by which one I was supposed to use all the time... until I cemented the difference. Baking POWder can rise with its own POWer. Baking SOda needs something SOur to activate. There wasn't anything acidic/sour in the pound cake recipe, which is why it called for the powerful powder. Might help avoid any future mixups!

It's about time. The other content creators, like R & R are perhaps seeing or realizing that Becky is a greater, more realistic inspiration for us and those other content creators took far longer to gain popularity than Becky. Now on the scene, we finally have someone who is so real, and sweet, and humble, but they may see her as competition for those who can be a little too "know-it-all". Just be aware, sweet Becky. after letting the bundt cake cool for the initial ten minutes, you can invert it over a cooling rack and then just let it sit for another ten minutes or so - the steam from the hot cake will rise up inside the inverted pan and help it release!

Honestly, oiling and then flouring the pan would have been best. Fool proof

Something I learned from my grandmother many years ago was that with Bundt pans, if you grease the pan and the also lightly dust the pan with flour, the cake will be much less likely to stick. I thought the flour step was unnecessary and left it out once... never again. It sounds strange, but it makes such a difference, especially with denser cake batters.

I love pound cake! If you like almond extract, pound cake is really delicious with 1 tsp of vanilla and 1 tsp of almond extract. It’s so funny that you almost forgot the milk because the first time I make a pound cake after I got married it came out terrible! My mom had me come to her house so she could make it with me. When we finished mixing the batter I said it still doesn’t look right. She asked if I added the milk and I told her the recipe doesn’t have milk. She pulled out a newer copy she wrote(where I got the recipe from) and she had forgotten to write the 1 cup of milk. I still have that original card I wrote, with the 1 cup of milk added in 😆

I actually cut them underwater in a oven sort of deep dish so that is stops the painful tear inducing gas from being in the air and means what does escape to my face is far far less potent by doing that i naturally discovered it helped dilute the remaining sharp bitter note that lingers in the raw onion and instead just had that fresh almost sauerkraut nice tang to it so dedinitely try cut it underwater i also pop whatever onion im using raw in the fridge in a ziploc for an hour at least but usually overnight since it helps calm it down a bit release less gas/juice and retain its shape a bit better which laat thing you want is raw mushy onions in your salad. Theyre better from the fridge like that so theyre crunchy as can be.

I enjoy watching you cook, your enthusiasm is wonderful. A small tip, When you are measuring flour don’t shake the flour to level it in your cup, it packs the flour and gives you a Inaccurate measurement (too much). I still keep a box of disposables for certain applications but for almost everything I use the silicone bags. About the vanilla extract, just in case some one didn't know- you can use the vanilla bean, as in cut and scrape the insides out to use in baking or ice cream, then put the scraped out bean and put it in the rum. You don't need to put them in whole, so since they're expensive, you get double the use out of them that way. Hope this helps😌❤️ i Wold just start the jar the next time you use a bean (or at least the inside), then add them as you need vanilla. That way you don't need to buy them all at once!

Beck, I’ve been making my Gma’s pound cake for many years, it comes out differently every time, but always tastes great. I agree with Ina, never apologize for how it looks. All who are lucky enough to enjoy it, know that!

Ever consider cutting way back on the sugar content in recipes. Everything is always great looling. I just use extra very good vanilla for whipped cream. Do you make special dishes for high blood sugar tisk members of your family. You are a wonderful cook.

Same here, pound cakes are so good! I hate when I'm lazy and I decide to buy one from the grocery store but it's basically just a regular cake baked in a loaf pan 😭

Looks like a delicious party spread ❣️ I want to try those two salad recipes! I also grew up in Oregon - about an hour south of Portland... I'm now in my 50s and still have never cooked fried chicken... Lol!

I love that you remind everyone that what you see is a video that is just a glimpse into one's life. It's hard not to compare yourself to ppl you see online and you can't help but feel inadequate sometimes. That you should be doing so much more in your own life. Like you always say it's good to allow yourself grace. I love your videos. You are so good and positive and your content is awesome!! I've been watching you for so long and it's awesome watching all the amazing hard work you and Josh have done creating a beautiful life for yourselves! 🥰

You are right, we don't see you when you are lying around but just your strength and stamina when you do stuff shows you are a real hard worker. I make the dressing beforehand and mix it into the salads on the day as I find that the potatoe and pasta absorb too much moisture and it's not the texture that I want.

I don't like oatmeal! The first time I saw her make the baked oatmeal I had to try it. Now I make it on a regular basis with all kinds of random goodies in it. So far I've tried: Banana and toasted walnut Peach with peach jam Blackberry/raspberry combo Toasted chopped hazelnuts with Nutella and milk chocolate chips [Delicious!] Blueberry Apple Cinnamon Cranberry My husband loves them all...he loves oatmeal so this was a great addition to our lives! Thanks Becky!! You're amazing!

Love how you talked about it’s not big deal to mess up! I use to buy cakes because I was so worried about messing up! But now make them with a 2 and 4 year old and we have so much fun! Even if they are not perfect!!! Thanks for the reminder!!

I use a tube or angel food pan for my pound cakes (the kind where the bottom separates from the sides). Works like a charm!

Becky try a rhubarb cake called Lunar Rhubarb Cake. It is fantastic. Freezes and defrosts perfectly. My mom makes a whole bunch when her rhubarb is in season and freezes them, and we get a taste of spring/summer all year long.
