I have adhd and struggle with depression and something about your videos helps me get up and complete tasks. I've been watching you for quite some time and your down-to-earth positivity is so refreshing. Seeing you work hard through a project and get things done helps me feel capable and inspires me to do the same. My fiance teases me because I'll say I'm going to do the dishes or cook dinner and I turn on one of your videos to keep me company while i work. He lovingly refers to you as "Becky with the good garden." 🤦😂 Anyway, I dont comment on videos often but I felt the need to tell you that I have such an appreciation for you, and the content you create. You carry yourself with such love and intention. I think you're super cool. 😎

I love how genuine you are. Like in the garden- You had a bit of time where you explained things have been difficult, but just focus on the positive even though it's hard to sometimes. Like I dunno, as someone with severe depression for years- Just watching a channel like this that's typically peaceful, but also down to earth real sometimes is just nice ♡ EDIT: Tyvm to everyone wishing kind words in the chain, it's always appreciated even if I can't reply to everyone that leaves it ♡

This can HELP with Garden Overwhelm (which I think we all can feel!) Laura from Garden Answer divides her garden into sections and then focuses on just one section at a time (weeding, pruning, fertilizing, inspecting for insects). She does one section each weekday, but you can make your own schedule. It definitely helps so that when you have 15 minutes, you know where to focus your attention, you make progress in that one area and don’t stress about all the other things that need work because you know they’ll get attention soon when it’s their zone.
@AB-ol5uz
@AB-ol5uz 2 жыл бұрын
yes - she's broken her property down into 5 zones, each weekday is assigned a zone - maintenance in the morning and special projects (if needed) in the afternoon - so that way the weeds, overgrowth of bushes/trees, etc. don't get out of control.
@CatherineShoresHMN

My mom suggested this to me when I was overwhelmed about my yard. We bought our house in Aug 2020 & there was an established vegetable garden and SEVERAL flower gardens. It got away from me last year. We were discussing it last winter & she suggested the zone defense. Brilliant!

If you make stabilized whip cream, it will sit beautifully at room temp. Advice from a home bakery business. 1 tsp unflavored gelatin per 1 cup heavy cream. Add powdered gelatin to 4tsp of water and let sit for 5 minutes to bloom. Then microwave for 10 seconds to melt. Set aside to cool down. Start whipping 1 cup cream with 1 tbsp sugar. Once cream starts to stiffen a little, pour in gelatin slowly. continue to beat cream until desire thickness. Hope that helps. You can add flavored gelatin too if you’d like. Add any extract right after you add gelatin

Em A. Yes! Some years ago I was struggling with all that was on my plate. In the midst of grumbling during a house cleaning task, I said, "Well, at least I have a home to clean". It was sort of like a cold splash to the face....I began to approach with gratitude. To be honest, I still would rather do my hobbies than clean house, do laundry, any of the routine tasks but it's so much easier now being grateful.

After moving two households and paying so much for all our boxes - we are saving all the moving boxes as well as the Amazon boxes as they come in to layer on the bottom of our future garden to build up the raised garden beds. You may want to consider that option with recycling the cardboard boxes go forward (I think you have the space in your downstairs shop/garage in the new house for now?)

Love your new home! You probably already know this but the "weeds" you pulled are Dandelions you can eat them. Dandelion Greens with Double Garlic Save Print Ingredients ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil 6 cloves of garlic, sliced ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste 1 pound dandelion greens with stems, washed and roughly chopped ½ cup vegetable stock 1 clove of garlic minced Instructions Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the sliced garlic, pepper flakes, and some salt and black pepper and cook for about 1 minute. The garlic should soften and become fragrant. Add the greens and stock. Cover and cook until the greens have wilted slightly, about 5 minutes. Remove the lid, but continue to cook and stir until the liquid has all but evaporated, about 5 more minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute. Adjust seasonings and serve. Nutrients and Health Benefits of Dandelion Recipes So, since changing my mindset a bit, I now get giddy when I see the little yellow blossoms pop up all over my yard. Not only are dandelions very edible, but they are also incredibly nutritious. The nutrients found in dandelions rival any leafy greens, they are full of vitamins and minerals. Dandelions contain vitamins A, C, K, Folate, calcium, and potassium. These vitamins and minerals provide those that use dandelion recipes with many different health benefits. Dandelions Recipes may be able to help: Provide Antioxidants Reduce Inflammation Managing Blood Pressure Controlling Blood Sugar Lowering Cholesterol

You are def blessed. We can all only do what we can in life. If your unable to spend more time in the garden it’s OK. You are blessed! I have a Weber grill as well. LOVE IT! You may want to invest in spare ‘flavor bars’ to keep on hand if/when the ones start to deteriorate. We had to replace ours at some point and it took some time before we got it. So I bought a backup just in case. Also with your cardboard, you could use it to start prepping the land for you garden. It works fabulous to set up a grassy or weedy area to prep for a garden. Looks like you had a lovely get together. Good luck with the house projects. Can’t wait to see more. 😁

You ARE Blessed! All I see is bounty and beauty, the garden is bountiful with growth and beautiful to behold and you my dear are absolutely beautiful!!!... Did you remember the Mayo?? Tee Hee🤭🤗 I have a silly question..do you find when you sweep up that you hold your breath or not? I always did and it used to kill my back. Being disabled now is just ridiculous to me as I was an active child/teen. I swam competitively for 15yrs (dad threw us in the pool and said sink or swim...we swam), ran track, threw shot putt & discus, played basketball and softball....WHAT HAPPENED??? I have so many auto-immune diseases, illnesses from both sides of the famil y and 3 that no one ever had...why why why? Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you guys!!!! You have no idea what it means to watch you both and find myself smiling! ooh ooh ooh...where did your mom get those black/red large bowls..want them so bad!!

You've worked so hard to improve your raised bed soil. Are you going to take some of it to jump start your garden soil at the new house?

The part where you were feeling overwhelmed with the garden. That hit deeply, thank you for expressing that. Made me take a breath and look on what I have done. I'm just a random stranger but I can say I am proud to have found your channel and of the stuff you guys have accomplished and how you have learned and shared your knowledge. Thank you, more than words can say.

torn lettuce stays fresher longer, when you cut lettuce up with a metal knife it makes the edges go brown, everything looks amazing - great party, as to the cowboy candy, i do something similar with cream cheese topped with sweet chilli sauce and i also use salted chips to serve

If you add an eighth of a teaspoon of plain gelatin to your cream while whipping it, it will stabilize the cream and it will keep its texture and volume. Also flat sheets of cardboard make a great weed barrier in your vegetable garden. A white bleeding heart. So pretty.

Thank you for sharing your overwhelm. I only have a teeny tiny garden and I neglected it for a bit but I know that there is value in it, my attempt, and it’s bounty. You inspire me endlessly

I really enjoy watching your channel! I watched this video when it came out a few weeks ago. When you were in the garden harvesting lettuce I noticed you were out of breath and wondered if you were pregnant. I was so out of breath during all 3 of my pregnancies. I talked to my doctor and asked if I was okay also! When I saw your video where you let us know you were pregnant I was squealing. So happy for you and Josh! My breathing went back to normal after my babies were born. Don't worry about being out of breath growing a human is hard work. Congratulations, so exciting!

Congratulations Josh and Becky on your new forever home. I love your positive attitude Becky. I was thinking how lush and green your garden looks. You are blessed to get that rain. So nice you could enjoy a house warming with friends and family this soon. I’m such a perfectionist- I would have waited until everything was done, furniture moved in, decorated and all....which would take months...lol your videos really are encouraging and inspirational.

Your new grill is a perfect way for you to practice cooking with propane! I left you some hints and tips on that on the relevant film yesterday. It might be worth saving your cardboard. You can use it to line the bases of your new raised beds when you get them, it stops any weeds growing up into the bed and gradually breaks down just like the woodchips. Please hug those beautiful dogs for me. They were so good not walking through your dirt pike when you were sweeping. Mine would have regarded that as a challenge clearly put there just for them. 🐶

Some grill tips: grab a second propane bottle well before you need it and just keep the extra on hand. It makes it easier to get a refill without having such an urgency about it. We take it to our local farmers coop to refill it and it is a better deal. We use the side burner in the summer rather than our stove top inside the house. Its a great way to keep the heat out of the kitchen! You should try some gilled pizza - its tricky to get the dough on there but once you figure it out, it is amazing!

Loving seeing your new home come together! We've always used the burner on the side of the grill for corn on the cob or lobster! I love how excited your Dad is about the trim! And your Mom explaining about grilling!

Josh is really an awesome man. You chose very wisely Becky! You are good for him too because he’s no longer afraid of the camera. You’re endearing personality has rubbed off on him (us too). It’s so sweet to see you two working together to achieve a common goal. Exemplary marriage, and a great model for others.
