I mean its logically correct? Your statement would make sense for something like pasta, but half a chicken cooks faster than a whole
@Döskopp
@Döskopp Жыл бұрын
@@piergiorgio919 you don't put a whole chicken in the oven, you put 2 half chickens in the oven 1 half and 2 halves needs the same amount of time :-) only reason to keep the chicken intact as a whole would be to fill it with stuffing, but usually you do that with bigger birds - rarely chicken and even a whole chicken just needs a few more minutes than 2 halves - not double the time 🙂
@Döskopp
@Döskopp Жыл бұрын
@@piergiorgio919 To explain why it's 2 halves - you increase the surface area of the browned skin this way the meat is on the bottom soaking up the juices of the veggies and the marinade and the skin gets nice and crispy if you put it in as whole, then some of the skin is in the juices and won't get crispy this is why they do whole chickens rotisserie style, so all sides can get crispy
@atomkuehne
@atomkuehne Жыл бұрын
@@piergiorgio919 I mean, Jack's chicken is a shining example of why thinking it would only take half the time doesn't work. You quite literally watched a video where he cooked it for half the time and it came out raw. Ovens cook from the outside in, the only thing that determines cooking time is temp and thickness, a whole chicken is not thicker than a half chicken. Funnily enough, you presented pasta as a dish that would work with half the time... but it doesn't. Different pasta shapes cook at different times, but adding more doesn't increase the time needed, when it's all submerged every noodle is getting cooked at the same time.
@piergiorgio919
@piergiorgio919 Жыл бұрын
@@atomkuehne yeah thats what i said about pasta??? Also obviously a whole chicken is less thick than half, unless you opened it like a book then sure it would be the same

A lot of the salmonella thing is just about making very sure nothing can happen. It's not like every chicken is just full of them. With decent cooling and hygiene you could probably eat chicken for a while until you get infected. It's just not worth the risk. Juicy cooked chicken tastes a lot better than pink chicken does. You can also eat raw pork without any issues, if the quality is good. Germans make a spread out of it and haven't died out so far.

@@rebel4466 that's certainly not a reasonable expectation to have with the average american grocer, not to say that you're wrong; you're entirely correct, but that food logistics in the US does not at all met the hygiene standard you're describing. when the government has to tell you to wash your lettuce to minimize risk of salmonella (rather than cleaning the dirt) you learn to not take that kind of risk.

Apparently, the dude didn't preheat his oven... According to Google, an oven takes 12-15 minutes to reach 350, then about 5 minutes more for every 100 after that. Thus, it likely took somewhere between 15-20 minutes for it to actually reach 375. Thus, he was likely only actually cooking the thing for around 20 minutes, plus whatever cooking it did while preheating...

Well the instructions say "2 1/2 lbs chicken parts" so even the directions are for the chicken not being whole. No, he just decided that because 30 minutes is how long he usually cooks his chicken when not in the bag that there's no way using a completely different method could take any more time. Also, it did call for "chicken parts" and while leg quarters are technically parts, I believe they meant individual parts, like the legs and thighs to be separated, etc.

Jokes aside, even eating raw chicken every day for a week, the chances are very low. We gotta cook chicken well just in case, but it's not like every chicken carries salmonella. It usually does if the contents of the intestines spilled over the meat in the slaughterhouse, which is not all that common. It is more common with chickens than with other meats tho.

My mom also had pre-onset schizophrenia. She would also "cook" meals like this where she would put the meat into the oven for only a few minutes. Most of the time less than half the required time to actually cook the meat. And then feed it to us. Then she would be confused when no one ate anything. It was really hard for all of us. She would say the exact same kinds of things jack is saying about the meat he "cooks." I believe what we're witnessing is early on-set mental illness of some kind.

It isn't blood. It's Myoglobin which is the same thing that happens to steak. Steak is a red meat which has a lot of blood circulation, dark meat is no different. Myoglobin is a protein that carries oxygen through muscles (which is what meat is), so, the more blood that goes through there, the more myoglobin is present. Myoglobin turns red when it's exposed to oxygen due to the iron in it. More myoglobin means more red. 80% of the people in this thread I bet cannot even cook, let alone know the science behind it. 5:28 When i was 12, TWELVE! I cooked better than this 30 or 40 years old man.. It looks like he was cutting into not medium rare but rare steak, or pretty much raw beef that is different colour. I got no other words at this point.

Jack got salmonella 4 times now, and has had 2 strokes. This is an old video from literally 9 years ago, so Jack's still relatively healthy, but in more recent Jack videos, you'll notice the strokes have fucked up his entire right half of his body.

Jacks got white hair on his beard, not because of age. but because of how much stress he puts on his body every time he cooks.

I was at a friend's house once while he was cooking chicken, I told him the chicken he was taking out the oven wasn't done and he says "some people like their chicken rare or medium rare", I've never eaten at his house again lol. That's what this reminds me of
