Tessie, your "Endless Salad Bar" is just the best! To think that a 25 cent package of spinach could supply all of that good nutrition. And you'll be able to re-use the potting soil and basket in up-coming years. NO pesticides or other bad stuff on that spinach either. Talk about win-win-win. It's great to think that each dime you save on not using electricity, store-bought greens, dish soap, etc. eventually goes toward the big, wonderful projects like tree trimming, painting and repairs that make your home even "homier." It seems like a stretch to connect your little spinach plants with cans of paint down the road, but that's pretty much how things work out over time. For a wise woman anyway!

I am in awe of your spinach basket! Definitely need one of those on our homestead! Growing up, I never learned many practical skills - my Mom considered a 4 star hotel camping - but I have learned a lot on my own and now I can, garden, cook from scratch, dehydrate food, keep bees and chickens - I try to make my family as self sufficient as we can manage to be. You’ve taught me so much! I think my Grandma would be proud of my efforts, as a young single woman she homesteaded land in Colorado and ran her own ranch. I just wish I’d had more time with her, she had soooo much knowledge!

Although I'm not for certain how Tessie does it I believe in past videos I have seen that she simply puts it under the downspout so the water comes off the roof and into the rain barrel you simply remove part of the downspout adjustment the rain barrel directly underneath

In keeping with your off grid series, could you do a video on your rain barrel water catchment series. I would like to see how it is attatched to your gutter. Did the barrel come with the spicket or did you have to add that yourself? If you had to add that could you explain how you did that? If the electricity ever goes out long term, I believe that would effect the water coming into people's homes because all the water treatment plants run on electricity so you might not get water coming out of your faucets or if you do, it might be contaminated if the water plants aren't working. If you could do a video on this step by step showing how to set up a rain barrel catchment system, this would be very helpful to a lot of people. 😊
