When I worked in a kitchen and people asked for crisp bacon, I did not screw with the flat top grill... into the deep fryer it went. Takes about ten or fifteen seconds (if your bacon is already cooked) to crisp it up.

I just tied this over the weekend with the same type of pan as a trial run. Thanks to my Mom I save bacon grease I have about 2 pounds strained. I just used a dutch oven type of pot nothing fancy on an electric stove using Steves method. I have little to no mess and perfect crispy bacon just watch your temp this is way better than the oven method I promise. The deeper pot allowed more bacon and little to no mess, more great bacon grease pan prep for eggs.

This is fantastic! I've been cooking bacon in a microwave grill pan... and noticed it seemed to cook better as the grease deepened. Been thinking I should save some grease so it starts with fairly deep grease to start with. Makes sense, since the grease will distribute the cooking temperature heat. No need to flip or worry if it sticks to the bottom or whatever. Decide to google & see if this had been done before, this video is first hit.

I love your bacon strainer bacon container I'm now wondering if one of the many camp fire coffee pots would work. Just like real butter bacon makes everything better period . I like my bacon soft very seldom get it to cook that way the meaty part is usually tuff . I'm a cast iron pan man to a beloved lady friend , now sadly passed , bought me a two handled beautiful cast iron pan just like yours . It's the only cast iron pan I use now because I can still pickup the pan ,oh has a matching usable two handled lid to .

Put your bacon on a cold pan, turn it on at medium heat and you wont have to worry about curled ends or uneven cooking. Deep frying seems to be a nice way to get rid of that good bacon flavour, and have it taste oily instead. Coincidentally, this is how you cuck a duck breast, or I guess any poultry breast, skin down in a cold pan.
