@gonagain3 жыл бұрын
Hello James. In a trailer that size it isn't going to take a lot to heat it and the main thing you'll be concerned with is handling the condensation build-up. If it were me, I'd put in two inches of rigid foam, including the floor. You can also put one inch in the doors. But make sure you tape ALL the seams so no moisture can get behind the insulation to the inside of the trailer skin. Watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWbdl2BtYtZnqbM

Thanks so much for making this informative video. I recently purchased the two door model 59 qt but haven't used it yet. I do have one question for you. Have you by chance had any experience with it getting caught in the rain while being used? Reason I ask is I am planning a camping trip in a couple of days. The cooler will be hauled in the back of my truck, which has to cover and we are looking at a 40% chance of rain the day we leave. I know the manual says do not expose to water or submerge in water. Dont know why anyone would submerge a 500.00 cooler in water but whatever.... I do plan to place a tarp over everything in the bed of my truck and try and leave some room around the cooler for ventilation but just wondered if anyone could offer any info on if they get stand a little water without harm or not. Thanks in advance.

Bodega, thats a new one on me? In Taiwan these are re-branded as Sansui 35 litre, TAW 35 litre, TWW 35 litre, Alpicool 35 litre to name but a few. They are all identical in appearance and also available in an awesome looking sand colour. Models supplied here are available with or without wheels. Here they also have conveniently placed bottle openers fixed to the side BUT the interior baskets are supplied at extra cost which is a con! Most folks purchase these units with the LG compressors as these have proven to be better units over others.
@gonagain2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing that, Terry. I'm not sure, but I think that Alpicool might be the parent company.
@terryroe20232 жыл бұрын
@@gonagain it's certainly a difficult one to be honest.....not sure why companies allow rebranding with very little enhancements to the actual rebranded product. I've heard terrible reports about those LG compressors used in some of these units but trust me they are 100 times better than the OEMs that are originally fitted as standard. There's a German brand compressor too yet this is never a choice here in S.E.Asia by Taiwan buyers as they are apparently noisy in operation and longevity isn't good blah blah. Incidentally those LG compressors in these small fridge freezers have a 3yr warranty here in Taiwan which is really good in my opinion and at 45db when working I wouldn't say it's noisy. The current range for 2022 with these rebranded fridge freezers hasn't changed much from previous years apart from a new body colour of "Sand" is now available which looks really smart over the traditional black. Moving on to the detachable lithium 15600mAh rechargeable battery packs that you can purchase separately, these are very overpriced considering what they are BUT they're a must have if you want to run the unit on its own steam so to speak. The solar panel packs you can purchase are also slightly overpriced for what they are BUT a must have for serious camping enthusiasts. The Jackery solar panel package is popular here in Taiwan but most will purchase the home country built panels etc etc as they are cheaper to purchase for sure. I have heard the fridge freezer will run up to 3 - 5hrs from a single battery pack, probably possible if the unit is in ECO mode. Some people might disagree with this but at the end of the day it's always going to be down to how you use your unit and the conditions it's working in. This unit is going in the trunk of my car but not as a permanent fixture. I want to be able to cool drinks while on the move and the like while we're away on a trip and having the ability to make icecubes, store ice cream etc etc is an awesome bonus. Lastly I like the capabilities of the app, the USB charger port AND that added nice touch of a bottle opener on the top of the side panel.

And does it run better on solar than electric wall socket in the house current? because the solar and battery stay the same power without changes in amperage and voltage like from electric companies that cause problems to the power units of the refrigerators and freezers?...
@gonagain3 жыл бұрын
Hello Jimmy! It seems to me that it runs well either way. Plugged in to 110 it draws about 40 to 60 watts and on DC, according to the power supply readout, it draws 30 to 40 watts, but the maintained temperature remains the same.
@jimmybutler37283 жыл бұрын
it was explained to me by one that knew how the electric companies work the system, between day time and night time, pick and lower demand times, and why the equipment can get to little amperages at times which makes the the machines work hard and wear out faster because of surges and reductions in the power amperage needed to operate them, and was told of a system that can control it, but not legal in all states and did understand that idea at all! why not legal in all states?...

The solar doesn't work without the built in battery. The battery is an option and it is still available for sale. A better option than a power station, if you just want to run the cooler off grid, would be a 12.8 volt LiFePO4 battery at 100 AH. That would just require an inexpensive cig socket with battery clips and, because it wouldn't require the down conversion to 12 VDC or up conversion to 120 VAC, it would be more efficient than a power station/solar generator. The Dr. Prepare brand battery even comes with several different USB sockets, a cig socket, a battery level indicator ..and a 100 watt MPPT solar charge controller built right in. 1280 watt hours of straight 12 volts for $399 and a solar charger is pretty sweet in my book. It's how I power my Newair Fridge Freezer, which is nearly identical to this one.

So you make ice! COOL! What style/size/brand of ice cube cube tray? Ice tray on bottom or top of compartment? Hours to frozen? I agree with many others comments, you provide good simple straight honorable advice and reviews for the adventure/camping/nomadic lifestyle. This allows us to be more prudent with our $. THANKS!

Thanks! In this case we just brought a large bag of ice from home, but you wouldn't have any problem making trays of ice in this as long as you're not moving. It'll freeze as fast as your home freezer will. I would just carefully place them on top.

I got a great set of Crofton ice cube trays from Aldi. They are silicone and hold 15 pieces of ice each. I would freeze the cubes before traveling, so you have some ready to use when you arrive at camp. I have an Alpicool t50 and they fit perfectly on the top shelf of the freezer section.

I have watched your videos on refrigerators bodega and alphacool Which one do you like best
@gonagain3 жыл бұрын
They're both made by Alpicool. I like this one because of the permanent divider between the two compartments, giving you absolute control over the individual settings. Also it was very efficient, especially when on refrigerator mode for both compartments. This one, the Bodega TWW55, has been in constant use here since we got it and it's great.

Seems to be in the mid price range for a 12 volt compressor refrigerator. I want a one year, three year, & a 5-10 year review. I look for the long term, buy once.
@gonagain3 жыл бұрын
The other alternative is to buy the inexpensive ones and replace them every few years. The expensive ones are only lasting 3 to 5 years, same as the less expensive brands.

@@gonagain I have purchased two used 12 volt refrigerators. 1st is a 40 quart - a 30 year old norcold (made by Engel), 2nd is a 15 year old - 35 quart Engel. It’s scary how little $ I was able to purchased 2nd hand.

It's the only refrigerator I've seen that had that particularly light. This is a nice fridge all around.

I was talking about, if you put out a bowl of ice cream and it doesn’t melt, it just sits and looks just like it was when you sit it out, no change in it just a lot of clear liquid around it. That’s not ice cream. Real ice cream will go from scoops to like a bowl of milk. A few of the top brands want melt, I don’t know what it is, its sure not ice cream. I saw it on a KZbin video. He had out a bowl of Ben and you know who and it set out all day and would not melt. I would not eat it. Take care

I just bought this T50 six weeks and twice have had 3 dashes come up on the refrigerator screen. Ambient temperature this time 61, ambient temperature last time 75. There is nothing on the troubleshooting guide or manual about how to fix. Worse. They literally have NO customer service. The only way to get in touch is by email, and they do not respond. I advise people not to buy from this company.

Hello Elizabeth, if you bought it through Amazon, then the best way to contact them is through Amazon. Even if you didn't, go to Amazon and look up a Bodega refrigerator, then click on Bodega store near the top of the listing. Once there, select "More" and choose "Contact Us". When you do that through Amazon you usually get smoke right away because Amazon is very particular about customer service.
