I'm a scout leader in Central PA, who leads all of our outdoor adventures. I love working with our boys on all aspects of the outdoors. Have you considered making a video working with a scout troop on primitive skills and gear choices. If so, I would love to host you at one of our camp-outs. Even if you weren't interested in making a video ,we would love to have you. I think our Troop would love your passion for the outdoors and your proficiency in communicating and educating. A key element of leadership for our boys on their path to Eagle. A backwoods adventure in Michaux State Forest with some scouts... best time ever. Food for thought my friend.

I’ve hunted with a 30/30 for 46 years in North Carolina and Michigan! Killed many deer in both places! Average distance of kills is around 30 to 50 yards! In timber even shorter! Fine rifles! Holy shit brother on the pancake oil! Great video!..Hahahahaha you’ve done it in a tent Lmao!! Pictures or it didn’t happen LOL!!! Oh man!

Looking at this video brought back great memories. Twenty one years ago I bought a used Ford Utility Van. My then 9 year old son and I put the exact same cots you tested in this video, a one burner stove and a couple of mess kits in the van and drove all around all of the Great Lakes that summer of 1997. We slept in the van on the cots and just stopped to buy local food, mostly fish. The campsites were mostly federal and state parks where we put our $5 in the "iron rangers" and camped on shores of both the big lakes and some small ones. The cots were soooooo comfortable. We drove 18,000 miles in two months all on "blue highways" through small towns (no interstates). He is now 30 years old and I am 67. We are talking about doing that same trip again.

Hiked up John's Rock after dropping the kid at camp. Even up in Pisgah the humidity was brutal. Stay safe and hydrated. Great scout gun. I have been thinking about doing a Tikka 3 build for a while. Please thank your daughter for her service! It is so humbling when people volunteer to protect us.

Did a 15 miler in Pisgah NF somewhere near a huge Dam several years back and the humidity was brutal. Camp ground at the half way point was full so we doubled back and drove to the Cabins at Seven Foxes. Bunch of small bears and foxes everywhere. Loved it

Black Locust is the species of choice for the pegs used in post & beam construction. Tons of shear strength last forever and swell to fill the hole tight with very little humidity.

Put Pop rivets along side of the truck to snap in the poncho, a couple of surplus fiberglass tent poles and you have a shelter that sets up quicker, won't sag, and keeps you out of the rain.

Luke, fix the belt yourself. They are very easy and can save you $$$, all you need is a 13mm (alternator side) and 15mm socket with ratchet and extension. I recommend having spare belts for each one, they can and will break over time. I have rebuilt these engines, added turbos, etc. They are easy (but greasing) to work on and fun to learn.

Thanks for another entertaining film Luke. The lightning storm was amazing. Does having a grandfather who was in the Hitler youth seem weird?! It goes to show that everything is not always black and white! I don't know what it is but whenever you yawn on film when you wake up in the morning I can't stop myself yawning! Do you know what? Having such a sweet wife as Suzie the worst thing about a night camping away must be just being away from her! Best wishes to you both, Barry Webber.

Honestly all the gear was great but the best part of the trip is the property I would love to have a private place to go hang out on. I usually have to do the camp ground thing and if you get partiers blaring music and screaming all night it sucks the fun right out of the next day. It was still close with the rifle and moose though. Thanks for the great vids.

The pickup was definitely better than the M1008 Blazer. Damn thing got stuck everywhere. I'm guessing the longer wheel base on the pickup helped. Loved that rifle, tent and ruck. British MRE's are awesome. Traded a platoons worth of American MRE's for the equivalent in British MREs once. For some reason those guys like ours better than theirs. They also gave us wine and candy. Best piece of gear for me is definitely the Rifle.

Regarding hiking overseas. It is possible to camp doing Camino de Santiago but there aren't a lot of legal camp sites so you'll have to wild camp. Wild camping is illegal in most of Europe. So there is a risk of being fined. In Europe almost every piece of land is privately owned, except in the Scandinavian countries. So you're probably better off going to Norway, Sweden or Finland if you like the combination of hiking and (wild) camping. That’s also where all of you favourite gear is coming from. However i did Tour du Mont Blanc (France-Italy-Switzerland) last year while camping at legal campsites. This can be easily done. Some campsites are next to the trail and sometimes you’ll have to do a little detour after each day. It is probably one of the most beautiful hikes in Europe.

Great adventure Luke. Wanted to share a lil story about a lil bottle of that Tabasco sauce. While in the army on a deployment to Ft. Pickett VA, we had a good old boy from Oklahoma that snored loudly with his mouth open. So we emptied a whole bottle of Tabasco right in his open mouth. Surprise to us as he smacked his lips and went right back to snoring..... Great job on the rifle but my love goes to Moose. Thanks for sharing
