You sir, are a life saver and a marriage saver - my wife and I just moved a 600lb hot tub over a wide variety of terrain over 1/2 an acre, including surfaced tree roots, gravel, and asphalt and your design worked perfectly. This was my second hot tub move, and it was seamless! Used a riding lawn mower to pull it. Thanks for sharing!!!!

WOW!!! That is so cool. Thanks so much for sharing your story. Its one of the best ones I have received!!! Its surprising how stable the tub is, when you pull it. And my pull was nothing like yours. Im so glad it worked for you. Thanks again for commenting and watching. Now enjoy that tub!!😁

Hi Sarah. The material is called coraplast. Basically plastic cardboard. I bought a 4x8 sheet at Home Depot. I made a 2nd video showing how I built it. Heres a link. It has moved several tubs since the 1st video. Works surprisingly well!!. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIumo4GtjNSVfKcsi=EA0obsX4IBobjyUg

How much does that tub weigh? You guys brought it down easy with only 3 guys. Mine is on its side delivered and it weighs 800lbs so I figure I need at least 5 guys to tilt it over.
@retirementwithpete98592 жыл бұрын
The owners manual says it weighs 430lbs. It moved like it weighed 100lbs😄. It laid down pretty easy with 3 men. I would think you should have no trouble with 5 men. Youll be surprised how easy it will slide on that coraplast. If you use it, let me know how it goes. Be safe! Thanks for the question and watching the video.

I would love to see the video. You could try sending it to my email at Rtwp2021@gmail.com I struggle with sending videos too. And you are just a couple miles from my daughter's home in OC. The price on the coraplast has sure gone up🙄. It was $25 when I did the video. Its up to $35 now. But still way cheaper than hiring a professional 👍. Im so glad it helped you. Thanks for watching!!

Coroplast got expensive. Going to do the same thing with a piece of osb. Thanks!
@retirementwithpete98592 жыл бұрын
Hi Wes, yes coroplast went up from $26 to $30. About the same price as 7/16" osb. And you can re-use the osb😉. Let me know how it works. Thanks for commenting and good luck.👍
@gj90392 жыл бұрын
What is OSB ? I need to make a sled to get the hot tub through our 45” gate opening when it gets delivered next month. My husband is skeptic we can get it moved into the backyard, but I want to try this sled method. It’s a 350 lbs tub plug & play LifeSmart tub . You’re right, coroplast sheets are getting expensive at home improvement stores or on Amazon unless you buy in sets.
@retirementwithpete98592 жыл бұрын
Hi GJ. OSB is short for oriented strand board. Its used in home construction. Its similar to a sheet of plywood. The price has come down to under $15 per sheet at Home Depot. Coroplast is still close to $30. My daughter's tub weighed 450 lbs. And as the video showed, we had no trouble moving it with 3 people. And, to be safe, you need at least 3 people to lay it down. I havent seen anyone use osb to move a tub, but it should work like the coroplast. The coroplast is more flexable, and easier to cut. Either way, its still way cheaper than hiring a spa mover. If you decide to use the osb, I'd like to know how it works. Good luck on the move!!! Thanks for watching and commenting.

Job well done! What material did you use for the sled itself? And the plastic sheeting between the sled and the ground?
@retirementwithpete98593 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott I was surprised by how well it work! I bought a 4x8 sheet of corosplast from home depot. About $25. We used to call it coroply. Its just plastic cardboard. I cut it down to fit between the gate, but you could just leave it 4' wide. For extra protection, I put a thick piece of cardboard between the coroplast and the tub. And thats about it. Pretty simple. Only problem is, what do I do with it now?? : ) Thanks for watching and commenting. Let me know if you ever need to move a tub. Ill give it to you!!!

@@retirementwithpete9859 How did you attach the rope to the sled? Looks like it's anchored to a 2x4 or something, but you must have it reinforced somehow, because it seems like the rope would rip right out when you try to pull it with a spa on the sled.
@retirementwithpete98593 жыл бұрын
@@TylerTervooren Hi Tyler. Its funny you should ask. I actually videoed the entire assembly process, but somehow that portion of the video got lost when we edited it for the channel. Im going to redo the entire video, and add that portion. I just folded the corply and cardboard around the 2x4. Had to score one side of the corply, to get it to bend around the board. Then ran 4 - 2-1/2" x 1/4-20 bolts all the way through. I used 3/4" rope, that I melted the ends. Drilled a couple 7/8" holes through the board. Put the rope through the board, then slid a big washer onto the rope. Then just tied a single knot at the end of the rope, and pulled ot tight. It worked way better than I thought it would. The tub manufacturer said the tub weighed 320 lbs dry. It pulled it like it weighed 50 lbs. Thanks for your comment. Hope to have the new video on youtube by this weekend😉

Hi Adrian. Im not sure, but you might be my first viewer from the UK. Thank you so much! The sheet of coroplast was 1/4", or 6mm. Got it at Home Depot. Not sure if there is one over in the UK. But Im sure you can find it. It really works amazingly well. Ive talked to alot of viewers that had the same results as I did. Let me know how it goes. Good luck. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Spa sleds have been on the market for years ..Amazon’s has them and they are much better at going over rocks, asphalt, rough terrain ...grass like this job was can be done with cheap plastic but no way that thing would hold up moving spas everyday
@retirementwithpete98598 ай бұрын
Most people move a hot tub once, maybe twice. Which this sled can definitely do. Is this as durable as the amazon sleds?? Not even close!! Does it cost between $500 - $600, like the amazon sleds? Not even close!! I spent $26 for the coraplast and $3 on the nuts and bolts. As the video title says, this is a hack. And by all the comments, it works darn good!! Thanks for watching!!
