you missed another feature. if you only have smart switch installed on one phone, you will still get a pop up on the other one.

Yes you can, coz all the data gets backed up, but widgets and a few elements may not be restored when the OS version changes, but your data from gallery, contacts, notes, my files and other system data will be available to restore
