Removing and replacing the coolant temperature sensor on a 1.1 litre petrol Peugeot 206 from 2002 to 2009. The part number is 96368024. Click here to watch a video on how to drain the radiator: • Engine Coolant Change ...
It is possible to change the sensor without draining the coolant but you will need a suitable bung to quickly seal the hole when you remove the sensor to minimise the coolant loss. Do not plug the hole with anything that might damage the sensor aperture or let any foreign matter enter the cooling system. Thanks for watching. Please comment, like and subscribe !.

You will lose coolant when you remove the sensor. However, if you're just doing a straight swap with a new sensor, you could remove the old one and quickly fit the new one, or, if you have a tapered rubber bung you could take out the sensor and quickly plug the hole to minimise coolant loss.

Do you need to use odb after you have change the sensor to make it sure to work properly? So ECU knows the sensor has replaced?

No it should be a straight swap

Sensor change did not help. I have problem with false overheating. Engine warms Nice idling, temperature starts lowing when driving, take a while and goes bottom down to 50-60 stays there for a while then stop sign comes and gauge shoots straight to redzone. Any ideas?

It sounds like a faulty thermostat. However it could be something else like a faulty water pump or even the gauge itself. I would change the thermostat first as it's relatively cheap to do.

This sensor could be the problem if the fan has stopped coming on.

Hi, my mom's car have this problem: temperature is fine when she starts the car in the morning; when the temperature on the dashboard is about 90° the fan kicks in (but it goes up too fast in my opinion...) and fan never stop until you shut off the car, because the needle never goes down 90-100 degrees. On the temperature gauge in the dashboard sometimes the needle goes to the red and the "STOP" lights up. Maybe this sensor is done? In the circuit there is no air, don't know what to do... The car goes very well, with no leak or bubbles or something else.

It certainly sounds like it could be a failing coolant temperature sensor so it might be worth changing that first as they're fairly inexpensive. Be wary though because it could be something more serious like a bad thermostat, water pump or leak in the coolant system.

@@screwsnutsandbolts understand, but I see two of these sensor in my car. One on the top (the green one) as the video shows and another one a little bit down, but blue. Is there any possibilities that the blue one failed? This car have had a repair three weeks ago: the iron pipe that carries the water to the head has been replaced because of corrosion and 7-10 days later these problems came out...

Do I understand this correct? Drain radiator --> Replace sensor --> Add new coolant
@screwsnutsandbolts
@screwsnutsandbolts 4 ай бұрын
You could also partially drain the coolant to just below the level of the sensor and then top it up afterwards, or you could do a quick swap with the new sensor without draining the coolant at all. You may only lose a very small amount of coolant if done quickly and accurately.

@@screwsnutsandbolts I'm gonna drain the radiator and put in new coolant anyway, and replace the MAP sensor aswell. Should I disconnect the battery before I start draining the coolant and replacing the coolant temp sensor or can it be plugged in?

It might be worth disconnecting the battery, seeing as though you're replacing a couple of sensors
