I built in the NR200P original. Air cooled Zen 7 7700X & 6800XT. Intake at the bottom and rear, exhaust out the top. It's cool and quiet under almost all work loads. The only thing I would have wished for is a front USB C. This 'new' version is a disappointment in comparison to the original design. It's hardly an upgrade, as you have adequately demonstrated. I half expected the new version to provide miniATX supported mobos, which it is so close to as is, but to go down the route of only water cooled for an 'upgrade' without even a nod towards better cable management is a strange choice. Nice review. Clear and thoughtful as usual. Thank you.

@sspringss2727 67mm aircooling space, with a gpu in front of it, in a case this big, so why would you ever buy it for air cooling at that point? that's really not a realistic option. The issue is the original nr200 actually supported a bunch of different builds, with a decent price by itx standards, this new one pretty much fails to meet the same budget category when it only supports liquid cooling and needs a riser cable. This looks like just the max case, except without the whole discounted bundle of included parts, which was the only reason i can see to buy the max in the first place. it's kinda just a niche within a niche within a niche

FINALLY Cooler Master has created the perfect SFF case and they even include a pcie 4.0 riser.. I´m happy that you finally can use a 240/280 AiO while using regular fans. Not like the top rad mod where you had to use slim fans which has more noice/less performance compared to regular 120 fans. But for higher tier gpu´s you definitely wanna go regular vented panel for airflow. Still a beautiful case. @@sspringss2727 tl:dr: People observe the market, want to see things improve in the SFF space in hopes that the newer options are attractive, worth the price, and potentially affordable for entry level budget builds(say 450-700USD or less) You might hate the complaints or constructive criticisms, but let them cook, these things may wake up companies into seeing what they need to improve or fix. Non-tl;dr: to be fair, if there's a issue that a person sees with a case, be it customer, potential customer, or just a observer, doesn't hurt to call out your grievances. Time and place for everything sure, but I'm sure that most folks want to see the SFF Market improve and improve, so more attractive options can be available. mind you, Since CM blew it out the water with the V1 NR200p and NR200, I believe most people had some expectations of the V2 being greater as a successor. And looking at the v1 NR200p, the V1 did have more variety, be it: normal gpu mounting(Though the slot size may be debatable for the DUMMY THICC 40 series cards), better clearance for cooling(say: large air coolers if AiO aren't a builder's thing), and switching to side facing from normal GPU mounting (for the V1 NR200P). To add on, and I preface this by saying that CM changed their mind on the V1 NR200p Discontinuation, CM at a time had wanted to replace the V1 with this.The V1s were cheaper, had more variety in building, and based on the Cooler size that you had , or wanted to get, you'd have to go for a AiO ,or a low-profile cooler(which may get choked by the GPU preventing airflow from the side). Now if they want to make this case feel like an actual upgrade, (since criticisms should have some ideas here and there, though this will never happen), they could take the gpu back bracket to 11: -have it be a full back bracket that can switch between a sandwich layout(Motherboard and PSU mount plate attachable in the middle with the gpu mounting behind it, think of the DanA4 ), or a normal layout with the gpu in front(a.k.a the layout you're seeing here). -Third full bracket option, the normal bracket for a simple layout that won't require a riser cable(Similar to the original NR200 ) which could allow builds with a larger cooler. Let them cook. complaints(when they all talk about a singular problem that they see, leading to the main root issue that needs fixing), and constructive criticisms can build a better product, or at least light a fire when needed.
@sspringss27278 ай бұрын
@Unhuman-0111A how is it to be received as criticism when they are both being sold. If/when they only sell one then you can make that argument but right now that's much to do about nothing. Basically a NR200P max case with few improvements. Giving the user options of AIO's etc. Honestly, I don't like it. Sure its ok for some users but leaves others who want to air cool and not mount their GPU vertically a kick in the rear. I think they all they needed to do is increase some dimensions here and there and give option for vertical/horizontal gpu mount bracket. Sure it would increase the size here and there.. but it could have given ALL users the options of AIO/AIR or vertical/horizontal gpu mount. oh well. I will stick with the NR200/NR200P
@petermilian44558 ай бұрын
Like you said the main appeal of this NR200 "Liquid" case is the support for beefier higher wattage GPUs with larger dimensions. What would the optimal fan configuration be for those using a card like this who wanted to configure this case to prioritize GPU temps? In your ""Max the MAX - An Optimized NR200P MAX!" video the top AIO exhaust, bottom intake setup had significantly better GPU temps (than top exhaust / bottom intake) so I was sad not to say any top exhaust configurations tested in this video. Do you think this would still be the best setup for GPU temps? Also, would top exhaust allow for improved memory, chipset and VRM temps in addition to the improved GPU temps?
@MachinesMore8 ай бұрын
The recommendation to not to a top exhaust applies to the glass panel only. In the MAX testing TG with top exhaust did not yield optimal results. For the vented panel I did test with top + bottom exhaust, and there the dual exhaust performed the best for GPU temps. As for board temps, when I tested the MAX the board temps did not differ by too much, and even then they were far from where it would even start to matter- across all these scenarios you have a good amount of air flowing across the surface of the board from the rad, and that is good enough!

I see everyone complaining about the features, but for my situation the V2 is better than the original, because the only thing i didnt like on the original was the side rad (top rad looks so much better in my opinion + you can use the glass panel and see the vertical gpu) and i dont care about air cooling anyway so why would i want that option? And since I use my PC only for gaming and watching youtube, i dont care about glass panel creating a little bit more heat than the vented panel, it just looks so much better. So i think this case is meant for people who are looking for a very specific case with very specific needs, since i couldn't find any better case for this price point (some cases cable management was weird, some had only air cooling option, some had no glass panel and etc.), that had the same features as this one. It’s officially 357.6mm long, so it exceeds the length (but should fit, just not “officially”). The width doesn’t leave too much room since you also have to account for whatever 12vhpwr connector you use, so watch out for cabling at the top.

Why are all the perforations on this case a different pattern? The back exhaust, the bottom grill, the psu shroud, the pcie slots, the top mesh, every single one is different, kind of incoherent looking

Could u recommend me an AIO for the NR200P MAX please? Mine is dying :c

I like the EK Nucleus Dark in 240, you could also do the Cooler Master PL240 like I used.

They should just focus on making a case with matx support and maybe keep SFX psu support to remain compact ..

can I fit a liquid freezer 2 280 in one of those?
@MachinesMore8 ай бұрын
I don’t think so, mainly because of the clearance at the top. My reference point was the 240 I setup at 57mm was barely touching the RAM latches so a 280 combo thicker than that would definitely be hindered, LF III is closer 63mm overall.

I'd rather keep my nrp200max and replace the cooler master aio for the newer ones from Asus, Artic, EK..etc or hunt down a fractal torrent nano.

Does it fit a 4080 TUF?
@MachinesMore8 ай бұрын
Yes, on paper it should, utilizing the extended chamber. You’ll want a 90 degree 12vhpwr cable though.

Thanks again for this review! Still havent found the perfect case to replace my NR200, which now sits on its "face", because I needed less footprint.

I’ll pass. Nr200 v1 with 5800x3d with TR PS 120 SE and MSI 4080 Ventus deshrouded. Total of 6x AF12 Noctuas. Dead silent system! After two SFX builds with AIO I am back on air cooling and love the simpler approach and aesthetics. No RGB!

If anything it seems to at the very least is giving you the opportunity to install bigger GPU's and better. Aio's with better performance compared to cooler master. That's about it

I like that front panel cutout for longer GPUs but I prefer air cooling.
@shaye-uv6tw4 ай бұрын
Wasn’t this always the budget option for ITX? They made it purely liquid cooling and giant GPU focused. I have no idea what they were thinking. This is going to totally flop. The sales numbers are going to show it. Hopefully they just give up on this terrible design and go back to the old one
@chriskautz32456 ай бұрын
Glad I never bought one .. The Gpu blocks the view of the AIO pump on cpu . No space behind the motherboard placement for any cable management . I went with Lian li H20-A4 and the Meshlicious for both my builds. Just too much plastic , cheap looking . I wouldn't pay any more than £40 ( approx $60 US)

I won't have water cooling. I won't have a riser cable. Thus, I won't have this case.
@sspringss27278 ай бұрын
They are not forcing you to buy it. If you want to use a big tower cooler buy v1, if you don't buy v2... it's that simple and in v2 you have 67mm clearance to use an aircooler.
@ronstewtsaw8 ай бұрын
How did I deserve that tone in your reply?

@@ronstewtsaw what tone? Why are ppl so sensitive now a days. I simply said cooler master is not forcing you to buy v2...v1 is still being sold.

Compare the tone of your original statement to this: "If you want to use a big tower cooler buy v1, if you don't buy v2. Even in v2 you have 67mm clearance to use an aircooler." Helpful instead of patronizing.
