Fellows, I would never use aluminum wiring, even copper-clad, in an automotive application. The resistance is too high and crimped connections are subject to creep, although I might actually solder the cable to the connector if I had to use that wire. A solid copper wire would be so much better despite its cost. I think this is a foolish way to save money. Yeah I didn't mean _solid_ copper. Stranded copper.
@SavageBunny14 жыл бұрын
BMW used aluminum wiring to save weight from the battery in the trunk to the front, they got recalled to be replaced with copper.

Stupidest thing ever.. aluminum wire coated in copper..uumm electrolysis will be a downfall. Aluminum is the weaker metal and will deteriorate faster. As said aluminum can NOT handle the same load amps as copper wire does. Stop taking short cuts and do the job right
@ddd2284 жыл бұрын
@@FlyEaglesFly19111 WHY did contractors use aluminum wiring in trailers? Cheaper than copper, but not better! Don't do it! Welding cable is far superior. Voltage drop? YEAH.

@icyuranus4044 жыл бұрын
dude you need to put some rustoleum on that frame at the very least before putting any of that brand new gear on there. doing it later will leave the frame incomplete and you risk damaging that brand new gear when you go to clean and prep for paint. the whole build might as well be garbage if your foundation is no good
@aarontena4 жыл бұрын
They're planning on stripping the frame down again and sending it to get powder coated, they mentioned it in previous episodes

I know this is a stupid question but why run a ground cable from the back to where the battery is to start the car? The frame is steel all the way so it should act as a cable right? Just wondered as I ran the braided cable to the frame and then the starter is on the engine so a ground from engine to frame again. I never see any draw down..

3:40 CCA (copper clad aluminum) is garbage. It can't handle anywhere near the amperage of OFC (oxygen free copper) without stepping up in the size of wire by several steps. So if you need 20 feet of 2 gauge OFC, then you'll need 20 feet of 0 gauge for CCA just to get the same rating. And CCA does not dissipate the heat anywhere near as good as OFC. CCA will also get a lot more corrosion over time and not last anywhere near as long as OFC. Literally the only benefits to CCA is it's cheap, light weight, and easy to bend, but the benefits do not weigh out the negatives. There's a reason CCA is super cheap, you don't want it on your nice builds, leave that stuff for the cheap amp kits you always see on beater cars

Sorry guys, the easy puller is not a new thing. The C-130 leading edge is held on with what looks like a piano hing and in order to pull the wire used to hold the leading edge on a puller very much like the easy puller was used. Granted is was a local manufacture but much, much earlier than this product.

shouldnt the battery disconnect be on the ground? battery is still gonna be live and there will still be current to disconnect and anywhere in between. have to unground battery to shut off battery.
@zapple82864 жыл бұрын
That just means more cable for the disconnect having it in the same location. You'll still have the same idk "dangers" even if you did it on ground. Usually when you disconnect a battery when working on it you take power out first.

@CamaroAmx4 жыл бұрын
This is mock up. Once they are all done with modifications and know where everything will go, they tear it all apart again and paint/powder coat the frame. It’s done this way so that it’s easier to use put back together and they don’t mess up the paint/powder coat on the frame. All modifications to the frame are already done. All the holes are drilled etc.

The projects from these shows end up either being stripped for parts for anther project, remade into anther build, sold to a staff member, sold at auction for charity or more often then not, stripped of useable parts and crushed after making a run through the car show and aftermarket show circuits.
