That’s what I was thinking. They’re trying to punish him for doing something they don’t like. Yeah, drugs aren’t good but when someone does them and doesn’t commit crimes, like drinking without harming anyone or committing crimes, it’s hardly their business. As far as I know, Having drugs on you is illegal. Not having them in your system (unless driving or operating machinery) And even if I’m wrong, there’s no much violent crime going on, why do they care what this dude puts into his own body? If dude has a problem, precipitated withdrawal is going to make it worse, it will cause even more fear of Normal withdrawal and getting off will be so much harder for him.

Additionally, why are cops, who aren't allowed to practice medicine, allowed to administer it without a doctor's order? "Administering naloxone to someone who is not experiencing an opioid overdose is safe and generally should not cause harmful health effects. Therefore, if someone is unsure whether an individual is experiencing an opioid overdose or not, it is still recommended to administer naloxone and call 911 immediately." 8 out of top 10 most dangerous jobs in pretty much the entire western world involve driving a car for a living. Truckers, cab drivers, delivery drivers, cops, EMS, bus drivers.. traffic is risky, the more you drive, the more likely you're going to get into an accident. The other 2 top 10's are usually logging, fishing, construction, oil drilling.. anything where heavy loads are swinging in close proximity to workers. Excluding traffic accidents, none of the emergency services make it to the top 100 most dangerous jobs.

I am a retired Paramedic. I believe EMS was liable also for assaulting the patient by touching a person without his permission. Informed consent is an important part of patient care. Since he was alert. He cannot be treated just because his pupils are dilated. There are many causes, not just opiate overdose. Everyone reacts differently. Dehydration could cause dilation under certain conditions. (or maybe just slow reaction). They have no idea what he may have been given in the hospital, or what the side effects may have been.

You never touch a patient without their permission. I was just using that as an example. You are correct, severe dehydration can cause pupils to constrict, but mild dehydration can cause a slow reaction. Just FYI an alert patient is a contra-indication for Nalxone. Even if the patient is under arrest the police cannot force you to administer a medication. I will not reply to any other comments. Some people just try to be contrary.

I can tell you exactly why they did it. I have a family member that has been struggling with pills and fentanyl. I recognize the symptoms. They did this with intentions of forcing him into extreme withdrawal while he sits in jail sick. They knew EXACTLY what they were doing. The seizures at the end were a direct result of suddenly coming OFF of drugs. NOT "being high." I've seen this multiple times with a family member. Crimes were committed here.
