Same happened to me. My friend and I picked up our dates and the cops stopped us. Pulled out their guns and began yelling commands. One cop kept screaming at me to get out. Everyone in the car kept telling me to get out and obey cuz they were scared. I begin to open the door and the other cop runs to kick the door. Then aggressively puts the guns muzzle on my head and screams that he'll kill me if I don't listen to commands. When they finally asked the driver(my friend) why I did such a stupid thing?, my friend said, thats the command you gave. The response from the cop was, well that's gonna get him killed.

And often their job can be more dangerous than a cops on top of that. I wish there was a way to point out how incompetent and useless U.S cops are, without shaming low wage workers at the same time. You assumed that because I made the comparison to an entry level job in fast food that I or others believe it is a job beneath dignity. But none of that is stated. You just did what cops do all the time that I think really does degrade the institution of policing. Instead of operating on the facts you took the thoughts that live in your head and you migrated them to my head. Which is what cops do all the time to citizens. Hands in pockets, could be a gun. Reached for something in the car, could be going for a weapon or hiding drugs. In a park after dark, might have warrants let me see some ID. Saying that cop would get fired from an Arby's doesn't show intent on my part to degrade Arby's workers without further evidence. I could have chosen barber, florist or any job and the intent remains the same. It simply juxtaposes that fast food workers are held to a higher standard than many cops and their jobs in fast food don't include arrest powers or the issuance of a firearm. I think this way of thinking, going several steps beyond what the totality of the facts can prove, has ruined policing and polite discourse.

Let me preface this by saying she was awful. However, stating "I can't breathe" is akin to saying "I can't catch my breath." She sounds short of breath, you can hear it in her voice after she runs a bit. People can feel intrinsically like they can't breathe or catch their breath or get the deep breath they're used to taking.(saw it a lot early on with covid). It is not a statement to be taken lightly with asthmatics or COPD'ers or anyone cuz they can go downhill in a hurry. If they say they can't breathe they may not be able to 5, 10, 20 minutes later. There is a video of cops ignoring this elderly woman who was discharged from the ED and was hanging out on her chair on the sidewalk bothering no one. Cops were called, they engaged her, shoved her in their vehicle after numerous attempts and after her saying numerous times and weakly, I might add, stating she couldn't breathe. She looked pale. She was by herself in the back of some police van and on arrival to jail she was dead. EDIT: the video did show her demise in the back of the van.

But i mean, if the cop dropped it and the guy knew so, yet he still tried to conceal it on his person, in many places that would still be a legit charge according to the law. Finders keepers doesnt always work. (no idea if that's what happened just throwing it out there). An example would be when an armored trucks back door was open and loosing money going down the road. The people didnt get to keep whatever they could pick up.
