At Leicester City we have had a friendship over the last 10 years with VFL Bochum. I went to see Bochum v Freiburg a couple of years ago and it was absolutely brilliant. I am in my fifties and it reminded me of how football was in Britain 30 years ago. Cheap..atmospheric..and raw passion. Oh... and you can drink beer and eat currywurst standing on the terraces. Also, most of the clubs are owned by the fans. We have so much to learn in Britain from the Bundesliga and the German second division

@@BaguetteOfDoomYes, but the two go hand in hand. The selling of the English game to the highest television bidders, and the richest owners, and the highest-paying foreign tourists and fans, has completely killed much of the terrace culture that made the English game great in the first place (although it has also largely killed the dark side of that culture).
@schwulerbaumgermane62494 жыл бұрын
The main issue in UK was lacking stadium safety, which they didn't invest and organized sustainable and reacted opon with drastic measures. With high prices they didn't price "the working class" out, but people who drink more than one beer and celebrate hilariously. Even the Bundesliga is more sterile as it was in the past, but still keeps things far better in balance and individualistic. With the creation of the Premier League all effort was focused on things who are in contrast of that of typical fan issues like identification and sense of proportions. The remaining attending people of a more superficial match making are business people, event people and tourists, who want "quality" and "planned enjoyment" for their money spent, or they are at another event.

My club in England Tranmere Rovers was relegated from the 3rd tier to th 5th tier in consecutive years were we spent 3 seasons. We were then promoted in consecutive seasons back to tier 3. In those 3 seasons in tier 5 we never dropped below 5000 average crowds. We now get over 7000. If a club gets the fans on side and believing in it then anything is possible. We do not have tons of money like the big clubs but we have loyal fans who care and good owners who have a clear plan. They actually want the club to eventually follow somethiing similar to how German clubs operate with the fans owning a fair amount of the club.

notice how after defeats the fans stay and clap for their team, same as the players appreciate the fans? that's what being a supporter(!) is about. you dont see that happening to "bigger" clubs like real madrid for example where a lot of people just go, expecting to be entertained and leave early or boo when their team isnt doing great. take arsenal vs 1. fc köln (exactly 1 year ago) as an example. a lot of arsenal fans werent interested in europa league, their atmosphere was crap. there were about 17.000(!!) supporters from cologne and they celebrated their team even long after the defeat. dont get me wrong, i love watching the premier league and their core supporters are trying hard, but english football sold their soul years ago. they should learn from german football culture to get back to golden days..

@TheSmithersy ooooh yeah, the sun and the daily mail said that....and nothing was true about it. Cologne fans behaved better than english fans when they visit the continent.
@Tosse9015 жыл бұрын
@TheSmithersy nah, it came from the yellow press and actually there were only 5 people arrested, the hooligans who tried to get into the stadium were 50-80 people, so also nothing special, and they just wanted to get more people from cologne into the stadium, because Arsenal only gave them the minimum of tickets and wouldn't let cologne fans get into the normal fan blocks. Also: Fc Köln warned Arsenal, that there were coming much more fans from germany than they had been given tickets, but Arsenal underestimated that. It was a normal football game, only many cologne fans were there, so the atmosphere was at least for one day as it should be in a football game, not like all the other games at the arsenal stadium. And man, the english hools are still the worst, you can see that at every world cup, european cup and in a lot of the club tournaments as well. And why the war references? Still salty that germany is the powerhouse in Europe even if we lost? Have a nice life in post brexit britain, I'm glad that you leave.

They just buy and buy and buy. Most teams from the 2. league habe more money than teams in the Bundesliga in germany. And thats why they always buy so many new players.
