I saw them play against my hometown club, Shamrock Rovers for this year's Conference League. They're a very good and tough team, I genuinely thought that they we're gonna get an equaliser in the 2nd half of the match, but that didn't happen. The match was still great to watch though
@marklangshaw26972 ай бұрын
I can tell you TNS came away very impressed by Rovers too. I think they will look at them as a team they can now aspire to be like after reaching the group stage for the first time. Rovers get decent attendances and look comfortable challenging for the knockout stage of the EUCL - that's the next steps for TNS
@welshwizzard82092 ай бұрын
TNS are a good side, trouble is even as a fan of one of the other clubs, they’re now miles ahead of the rest, at least in scotland they have two teams out and away but i fear for the league now they have extra funds still TNS are probably a solid League two club to use english football as an analogy, trouble is the rest are probably two divisions below that and whilst in one off games they can beat them hence why they haven’t done the treble in a while, over the season it’s very hard to compete
@marklangshaw26972 ай бұрын
@@welshwizzard8209I think TNS playing all those European games is actually helping the other teams compete with them domestically. They have lost three times already in the league vs. none last season. In the longer term, I think the FAW are doing everything they can to help the other clubs close the huge gap on them. The new league and investment, in the long run, might help at least one or two other teams go full-time, and trying to get Merthyr in the league shows they're ambitious about improving it
@welshwizzard82092 ай бұрын
@ oh i agree finally the FAW are pulling their fingers out in regards to the league, they’ve let it stagnate be ecrease for far too long, Merthyr joining the league would benefit both sides in my opinion but i can’t see it ever happening as their fans seem to dislike the league a lot for some reason Sure i think TNS playing the european games is helping in the short term but in the long run the extra funds and european games if they keep qualifying will lead them to attract even better players and grow even quicker, they already have a huge advantage being FT, it’s a huge worry for the league imo, because you can’t punish them for being successful and neither should we but in the same breath you don’t want the same club winning it for the next 20 years but 20 points every season
@kidkustom23 күн бұрын
There's an irony about TNS fans singing 'Yma O Hyd' (We're still here), a Welsh song popularised by the Welsh national team fans and sang at the Wales games. The song is essentially about Wales still being here despite English oppression. TNS are a team that are based in England but play in the Welsh league, and dominate the league.

"Stories like theirs are hard to find in the modern game" is a weird thing to say when corporate money shifting balance of a league is in a way one of the defining features of the modern game. As I understand Total Network Solutions FC was just ahead of their time in the worst way possible. Foregoing identity for the sake of buying undeserved success, they are just a small scale RB Salzburg.

Liverpool and Manchester United benefitted from rich benefactors - it just happened before you were born so their boosters are "history." Real Madrid benefitted from being a propaganda arm of the Franco regime. Bayern's modern dominance was financed with direct and heavy investment by Adidas and Audi. The idea of "undeserved success" is nonsense.

Love them. Popping down to see them later on in the season. I'd rather they get into Europe than the Welsh teams who play in the English pyramid - regardless where your ground is, you should get to Europe through reaching the top of the pyramid you compete in.

They’ll be dancing on the streets of Total Network Solutions when they see this video! Straight up though, Wales has potential to rival Scotland, Croatia or Denmark’s football leagues (countries with similar populations) - as a long-term goal. We have large-ish teams, locked away in the EFL. A millionaire with too much money to spare should set-up smaller city clubs, playing within the Cymru Premier, from Swansea, Cardiff etc.

TNS are a good side, they seem to be trying to fix the internal welsh perspective of them abit but in the past they’ve kinda enjoyed being the one people don’t like and bantered back at the english or don’t belong in the league claims However this video doesn’t fully get into the grasps of Oswestry is in england but it’s very welsh, welsh was taugh in Oswestry schools until recently and they have parishes near by like Llynclys & Porth-Y-Waen so very welsh area historically perhaps the way they ripped out a community villiage club doesn’t sit right with some and perhaps harris should have done more to help Llansaitffraid develop their own team again, which they eventually have done independently But for me the main trouble is even as a fan of one of the other clubs, they’re now miles ahead of the rest, at least in scotland they have two teams out and away but i fear for the league now they have extra funds still, Nomads turned fully pro a few years ago and took the title from them but had to scale back to part time as with out a Mike Harris as is the league can’t sustain full time clubs TNS are probably a solid League two club to use english football as an analogy, trouble is the rest are probably two divisions below that and whilst in one off games they can beat them hence why they haven’t done the treble in a while, over the season it’s very hard to compete

I don't Care if their Owner Likes me or not. But i don't get how you can be a Fan of that "Club" and i don't know how anyone can Respect them. This is a much bigger Issue in international Football. Everyone seems to Care only about who wins. Nobodys asking why and how they win. Man City won how many Premier League Titles on a row? 5? If you just Look at the Result you might think Thats an Amazing Story. Small-ish Club Stepps from the Shadows of it's Big Brother United and Wins so many Titles Thats Amazing. But if you just ask "how" they did it you will see Abu Dhabi Investors, broken Rules, unfair advantages. And that begs the Question "what is it worth?" How much is a Premier League title worth if you know that you bought it. You didn't earn it, you bought it. Bought success is worthless. Cauz what's left of it if the money is gone? What have the TNS Fans if the Owner dies? Memories? What memories? The Memories of the Time when a Rich Guy bought a 28 Year old club to the Conference league and when he left everything fell back to shit? Yeah what a Memory. Same goes for City, and RB Leipzig and PSG and so on and so on. Of course you need sponsors and Investors to have sporting success. That goes for Champions League Clubs as well as for non-League Clubs. But as Fans of this beautiful Game we should look so much deeper then we do right now. There has to be a difference between a Sponsor who helps you win and an Investor that buys you wins like the ones TNS, City, PSG or RB Leipzig have.

Genuine question but would that opinion change if Mike Harris had decided to invest in Caernarfon Town or Penybont or Barry Town United ? I think it would be a very different narrative then
@1882osr2 ай бұрын
@@robsmall6466 I'm absolutely someone that dislikes the corporatisation and the entrance of literal nation states trying to sports wash and have a plaything... but I can only empathise slightly with the other Welsh league clubs over TNS. As far as I have ever known he's a local Welsh guy that did well for himself and decided to invest in his local club and probably used the renaming as a way to justify it to himself, it's really hard to hate on someone for essentially living every smaller club fans dream.

TNS is a merger of two clubs. The main one being Llansantffraid which was formed in the 50s and also Oswestry Town which went right back to the 1800s and were regular competitors in the Welsh Cup through most of their history so we're always familiar with Welsh football. Oswestry itself, although on the English side of the border since the 1700s has always had a sizable ethnically Welsh and Welsh speaking population. In the 1960s there was even a campaign for Oswestry to be placed back on the Welsh side of the border as it was on old Powys town. When HTV (Harlech TV) the predecessor to ITV Cymru Wales interviewed people on the street about it many locals were unaware that there town was in England.
