In todays video I strip a massive pile of copper. Some wire was pulled from a demo job at a dealership and some was from damaged wire that was damaged while being pulled in and had to be removed. Thanks for watching! #recycling #scrapping #scrap #copperwire #aluminum #diy #projectshopfl #copperking

You've got great connections with the people you buy from and work your butt off stripping and packing in containers . That big wire is heavy and hard to handle , getting stuck by the splinters isn't fun and your subject to get infections from chemicals in the different products you deal in . Great pay days and when you buy a load that can go directly to the scrap yard and make several hundred dollars to transport is awesome . It's all about the time and money that you reap in profit . Keep up the hard work , but the harder you work now will wear your body out and you'll have hell when you get older . I know that all too well as I've worked hard all my life and it has caught up with me and my body can't take it anymore . Plan on slowing down now . Great videos .

No joke on how much it wears on your body, i was a roofer for most all of my life. Still partially own the company. I started as a laborer picking up shingles ( not as hard as people think but still hard on the body over time, i say this cause people are always worried about how hard cleaning up will be but end up always saying that was not so bad) then worked my way up and started a company when i was in my 20's with my cousin. Now we do just commercial roofing. I try every way possible to save my workers backs, get a loader with a bucket, Lull (we built a wooden dumpster that attaches to any lull and 2nds as a platform), or something of the sort for them to use on large jobs and drive to the dumpster and the power ladder is key for getting stuff up quick if we cant use a crane. I still partially own but i started my own antique tool selling and been doing super well with that the past 5 or 6 years now and was something i was always into and doing on the side for fun. there is really good money in it, as people collect and people use them still. A Stanley plane from the 20's is 100x times better than a brand new Stanley of the same model. I sell other stuff as well, Antique tools and parts, same with old clocks and radios. i also pick up other stuff that i can profit on. but the best thing i ever did was get away from the hard work. someone has to do it though, but you dont realize the pain and wear and tear till later in life. Enough of me rambling, nice to see another older person telling it how it is.

FYI: You had a call out from Okie Scrapper earlier this week. That box you were working from worked nicely as a table. Have you considered putting your wire onto a table pre-shredding? You would not need to bend over so much. Maybe mounted on castors so that you can wheel it from your trailer to the copper king?

why would they not save that expensive wire and sell it to you? Cause they dont own the wire, they just work for a company and figure its best to just keep it for scrap. that wire is long and can be used. My workers do this sometimes with the extra stuff from out copper roofs. Those workers dont work for me anymore. I let them keep the scrap but i have caught them scrapping 10 pieces of 10 foot Zinc coated copper drip edge. like a 1000 bucks for my cost and they probably got a 100 bucks from it or less.

First I always deal with the owners of the company and the wire is usually leftover or have been pulled out from a demo job and can not be re pulled on an inspected job. Also sometimes the wise is new and got damaged being pulled in and fails inspection.

@@ProjectShopFl I dont want to sound like your buying stolen copper, your posting on KZbin. Its jut a sad fact so much good stuff gets recycled cause of people selling leftovers and stuff like that. even owners of companies. if they charged the customer for 100 feet but used 80 and then goes onto selling the 20 feet as scrap cause they dont want to return money to the customer for material not used., they make money of the the copper then the scrap to make more. if they were to save or return a customers paid material it would cost them money out there pocket. well not really it would just be more honest, they dont loose a dime besides the markup and scrap cost. I see it often, we do jobs for a larger companies and they order the material and sometimes we are left with materials and he always tells us to get rid of it or take it off the job cause of that reason of refunding the buyer. am always at the scrap yard and i hear the stories cops are there just about everyday looking for stolen wire. keep up the good work. seems to have been worse 10 years ago.
