Here is the first in a series on copper peptides. This is a huge subject-and I am just scratching the surface. I contemplated re-filming the entire video after learning that GHK and
GHK-cu are often interchangeable in cosmetics (as are tripeptide-1 or copper tripeptide-1). Apparently I am among the "purists" (non expert, non chemist purists LOL) who thought that they were slightly different (one is 3 amino acids and another is those 3 amino acids plus copper). Like I said in the video...I am not a chemist. My main goal in this video is to share the benefits of copper peptides and review and rank the copper peptide products that I have used.

I’ve been using Dr. Pickart’s products since 2004. Last year I tried the NIOD Cais for a change, went through 3 ounces of it but I went back to Dr. Pickart as I find I get much better results with Skin Signals and his Two Timing tightener on top, and it’s cheaper than NIOD. I did keep the SOD mist in my routine, I love it!

I bought the Dr Pickart VIP serum and have been using it for about six weeks. However, I'm far too old to alternate with my retinaldyhyde (Osmosis). I only started a rentinal program in the last 1 1/2 years and need all the help I can get. So the question is: why should they not be used together? I did a google search and found one person say it wasn't really a problem unless you were too aggressive with your retins or you skin was sensitive due to other "over activity" and that the molecule that breaks down collagen in copper peptides would then come into play. Could you explain why they can't be used together. I've been doing Dr. Pickart early in the evening alone. Then two hours later I go in with Osmosis, a niacinamide and alpha arbutin. Thanks, Penny!

Penny, I watched a prior video where you recommended copper peptides and specifically The Ordinary Buffet with Copper Peptides, so I purchased and just received it. I was so happy to view this video which showed what not to use it with. I was using it in the morning after my Vitamin C. I do use Retin A at night, so I will do as you suggest and use the Copper peptides on the nights when I don't use Retin A. Thanks for the info.

I've been using the Dr Pickard products for a few years now, including the shampoo. I've seen most improvement on my lashes (I apply the CP serum on my face and it obviously gets on my lashes) - and since they started taking orders again over the lockdown, I've started to use the folligen spray on my hair ( 2 weeks now). I haven't seen new hair growth yet, but the hair fall has definitely been reduced. I agree that packaging is very basic and the website is not user friendly at all, but with Dr Pickard, you buy the real stuff from the guy who discovered copper peptide. He'a a chemist, so he's interest lies in the science behind the products rather than offering attractive packaging.

Thanks for another great video! Is there a reason for not using copper peptides during the day? I prefer to do that and skip vitamin c on the days I use it because I think the single most important thing I use is Retin A and I don't want to stop using it daily.

Wow, this was just amazing and I love the detail. I've tried the NIOD one myself and don't know that I noticed a difference but then a) I didn't take before and afters so.... who knows and b) I remember Brendan saying that copper peptide was never a quick fix; it was meant for the overall and long term health of your skin. One question I have is: you mentioned hyper pigmentation from acne scarring but what about regular old age/sun spot pigmentation? Which would be best? Thanks so much :) xo

I always get one for my ascorbic acid to keep air from getting in and now I’ll use on for CAIS too since you warned about the texture.

Hi Penny! Hope all is well with you! Loving always the work you put out for us! I loved being introduced to these theories about copper peptides. I’m still trying to grasp it all. You know you’re an excellent teacher, for sure, as I always tell you. I do have a question wondering if I bought the correct product for my skin type. Maybe you can help.... I purchased the NIOD but the number 2. Since I have aging wrinkled , dehydrated and dry skin, not at all oily ( maybe a bit on the nose is all) do you think It would benefit me or should I send it back and get the 1st generation. I do have enlarged pores and a scar that I’ve had many laser treatments on to lighten the keloid. Last time, about two months ago, my MD said the keloid didn’t grow back and just gave me some cortisone shots to calm the itch. I hope I’m painting an accurate picture for you and not confusing you. Upon your recommendation I did buy the SOD mist. My skin felt great after but it initially stung ever so little. I use a lot of Avene, Vichy or Caudalie h2o sprays on my skin for daily treatments, eg., I read where it’s advantageous to rinse off miscelar water with these sprays. Also rinse off tap h2o. Oh I also have mild to moderate rosacea ; much much better than when first diagnosed with it in early 30’s , now 68. Oh my gosh! Anyway, sorry to ramble on and on. Thanks for any input you may have. Ruh-roh. I look forward to your Faustina IPL update now more than ever. I have finally accepted the fact that the Lightstim I've been using for about a month now has caused some hyperpigmentation (I even have a spot on my face which looks like an imprint of the device itself, yikes!) I spoke with the CEO yesterday (have to give them kudos for great customer service) and he said he has never heard of that happening with the device for wrinkles. Not sure if I'm completely convinced of that as a review on Sephora said otherwise, but nevertheless they offered to refund my money. Fotofacials have worked very well for me in the past with sun damage redness, so looking forward to your Faustina update!

Ideally could you use a signaling peptide, a carrier peptide, a neurotransmitter peptide and an enzyme inhibitor peptide all at once? Is there a product that has all of these? Not Penny (of course lol) but when I do an evening copper peptide regimen I start with a lactic acid cream or a retinoid, wait one hour then I apply the copper peptide cream on top. Then I finish with a DMAE serum (in Dr. Pickart’s line). On alternate nights I will use a vitamin C product and a thick moisturizer.

I asked a chemist about her opinion on growth factors and copper peptides. "The only real effect she has seen is improvement in overall skin hydration. Haven’t noticed any deep skin penetration due to the size of the molecules. They are too big. That means they don't really take part in collagen renewal." To me it makes a lot of sense since we still need more evident based studies on peptides and growth factors, but at the same time am wondering if you can provide more insights in this regard too.
