Old time bible Christian preacher falls into a logical conundrum, then accuses his skeptical questioner of being a "homo" minutes before being arrested at 4:35, for carrying a stun gun. The electronic stun gun was concealed under the preacher's rain poncho, which was likely revealed to nearby United States Park Police by a strong gust of wind - or as some believe, an Act of God.
This all took place in 2012 at the National Mall in Washington DC, during a rally of religious skeptics, atheists, and agnostics, which attracted a number of Christian street evangelists who had come to argue the gospel with non-believers.
en.wikipedia.or...
Stun guns are illegal in Washington, DC.
Ironically the arresting female Park Police Officer is infamous for using a stun gun on someone at DC Occupy.

Atheist -"because of a book you read"? Christian- "Because its god inspired book" - This kind of reasoning involves at least 6 different logical fallacies. 1. Appeal to authority - where an assertion is deemed true because of the position or authority of the person asserting it. "Because god says". 2. Argument from Ignorance fallacy - (appeal to ignorance, argumentum ad ignorantiam) - assuming that a claim is true because it has not been or cannot be proven false, or vice versa Classic Argument from ignorance - "The bible has never been disproved" Its never been proven to be TRUE EITHER!!! Peter Pan has never been "disproved". Thor has never been "disproved". That's NOT how we evaluate existential claims. We evaluate existential claims on weather or not they have met their burden of proof. 3. Argument from (personal) incredulity - (divine fallacy, appeal to common sense) - I cannot imagine how this could be false, therefore it must be true.[14][15] 4. Wishful thinking - a specific type of appeal to emotion fallacy where a decision is made according to what might be pleasing to imagine, rather than according to evidence or reason.[71] 5. Begging the question fallacy - providing what is essentially the conclusion of the argument as a premise. 6. Circular reasoning (circulus in demonstrando) - when the reasoner begins with what he or she is trying to end up with; sometimes called assuming the conclusion.

"What if you're wrong" An atheist's chance in that "gamble" are 50/50. A believer's chances are 1/1000. Logically 50/50 seems more reasonable.

Direwolf13PS3 The believer has something more along the lines of 1/10.000. The amount of Gods that mankind has created since the ages is unimaginable. The thought that we would be swayed to their side with their ten thousandth god is laughable at best. At least I'll die happily knowing that my grandchildren will live in an atheistic world. Atheism is the third largest group of religious (dis)belief. Since the last decades, our numbers have grown. In three generations, Christianity and Islam will be a small minority, their cries won't even be heard.

STR33TSofJUST1C3 I was being generous, as 0.001% is already a stark difference compared to 50/50. In the case of Hawaiian mythology, the god Ku is divided into several thousand variations alone, each with their own meaning and historical attachments.

richiefranklin76 Because believing in self-contradictory babble made by sheep herders in the desert is "obviously" a better alternative to placing trust in science and reality. Good job on completely exposing your inanity. Also after seeing other examples of your position in the comments below Ive noticed something. You literally don't even understand the basic position of an atheist. "Oh..you mean like how you're a gullible moron;that thinks things can't be true or exist, unless textbooks and men in white lab coats tell you so?" Atheism in it's most basic form is not the position which states "god does not exist" it is a position in which someone does not believe in a god, i.e. none of the gods which currently exist in religious or historical texts. This position means that they do not base their morality or ideals on the contradictory claims and dictations which nearly every religion has. Even Buddhism, for example, is not consistent. Richard Dawkins has a scale depicting the general levels of Theism and Atheism, the majority of Atheists fall into a 5-6 bracket, whereas few fall into a "god does not exist" bracket. So to make the argument that all atheists "thinks things cant be true or exist" is completely silly. Also you say scientists are in the midst of some conspiracy even though you're using technology to butt heads with people online. If you honestly believe atheists are brainwashed, than I have nothing else to say to you.
@STR33TSofJUST1C3
@STR33TSofJUST1C3 9 жыл бұрын
richiefranklin76 Atheism is no rejection of God, smart ass. It's a neutral position. The atheist does not believe in God's existence, nor does the atheist believe in God's non-existence. Only theists believe, while atheists don't believe. People that believe God is not real are called anti-theists, not atheists.

@@davidhatcher7016 Sinful. Well, to sin is to not follow God's rules. If God doesn't exist, which I don't believe he does, that also means your set of rules are completely invalid. You don't need a book to tell you rape, slavery and murder is wrong. Develop your own morality, using logic and critical thought, it's not hard to see when you're causing harm unto others. Good Theists are only good because they wanted a reward when they die; good Atheists are good because they genuinely want to be. So, by calling someone a sinner, it says far more about you than them. You aren't a nice person.

@@WhoThisMonkey Jesus is the only one that isn’t a hypocrite. Have you ever lied, stolen, etc? Did you like the karma that was returned to you? We are to imitate Christ because everything he did was good. Just because you didn’t murder anyone doesn’t mean you are fit for heaven a place that has no sin. That’s why it’s important to repent of the sins that aren’t murder, rape, etc. Jesus did a lot on earth and we are under a new covenant for a reason

@@XManiiakX How do you know anything at all about Jesus? If heaven has no sin, and apparently God created good and evil, to give us freedom of will, so we can choose to sin or not. Doesn't that mean that in Heaven there is no evil, and therein no free will? So following that logic, doesn't that mean that, in heaven we are slaves to do God's bidding. I don't think I'd like to exist somewhere like that at all. So if you're saying I'm not going to the Heaven place that's never been proven to exist, I can't help but be extremely happy about it. Wait... You said "that's why it's important to repent of the sins that aren't murder, rape, etc." so you're not suppose to repent for rape and murder? That doesn't sound like any Christianity I've heard of. 🙈 Oh, and by the way, Jesus, as written in the 230+ variations of the Bible most definitely was a hypocrite, but if Jesus was a real man, which hasn't been proven, we can't know anything about him at all, because the credibility of the Bible hasn't been proven itself.

AN OBJECT INTELLIGENTLY DESIGNED???? I found this object on the sidewalk while walking my dog...the object in question was roughly cylindrical in cross section with may a 2 cm diameter and tapering to tipped ends. The object was, I would say, a good 15 cm in length. Prior experience in this kind of objects told me that it would be semi soft with some harder inclusions within it. I pondered its characteristics further and did conclude that a natural process would permit it to be transported along till it was finally deposited where I stood. The semicircular cross section indicated that it came from a cavity so formed. Perhaps, I thought, the cross section and composition indicated that it was "designed" but the random nature of the inclusions was harder to explain. The process of forming it, I thought, must have a significant stochastic contribution hence the number and composition of the harder inclusions will vary from sample to sample. This stochastic component is something that the ID crowd never seems to include but which I think it is important. I still was unable to come up with a test that would indicate to me whether this object was designed or not...or at least designed without ignoring its inherent randomness. At this point I would suggest you reread briefly the above drivel...then scroll down... ...scroll down more... ...and more... ..yes, more... ...keep going... ...then I noted the buzzing of the flies on the object which, if I measured it, would certainly give me a normal curve for its frequencies...perhaps varying depending on the species of fly time since deposited, etc....That is, the object and the flies constituted a "system" and perhaps a finely honed one. Obviously the object had characteristics which attracted the flies and these used it for their own purposes. Therefore, this "system" had a definite purpose measured against some metric, right? I murmured "fascinating" like Spock and then collected the turd into the bag I carried along for my own doggie...some irresponsible dog owner had allowed his pet to take a dump and had not bothered to pick it up...the metric of the "system" would be measure effectiveness of the turd to breed more flies...I would have to include eggs per square cm, mean temperature of the turd as a function of the cross section, etc., etc., and perhaps come up with a multiple linear regression to represent the metric...ohmigod, I could spend months deriving all this and be very happy about it! CONCLUSION: it is easy to "detect" ID even on a dog turd but you still need a mechanism/test/algorithm to prove that it is truly "designed"...I won't believe your claim until you provide me such mechanism and I get a chance to apply it to all kinds of things...including dog turds...

our decisions are not pre-programmed. We have the power through the exercise of our will to choose good or evil. The mere knowledge of something in the future does not mean that I play any role in the causation of that thing. Let me illustrate. Although I do not have perfect knowledge, I know with reasonable certainty that the sun will come up tomorrow. Yet, I play no role in that event happening. I know with reasonable certainty that my friend will arrive at the airport tomorrow evening. I did not cause this to happen in any way. My friend exercised his will to come out to see me. Gods foreknowledge does not mean that I cannot exercise my free will in making the choice. And if I were to choose some different choice by my free will, God would have known that as well.

another example. if a teacher knows that a student will cheat because he knows their character that doenst mean that the teacher caused the student to cheat. and btw saying that we dont have free will is like saying that God make us sin thats blashemous! we choose to sin or not we do have a free will.

It's not man-made. Jesus did come to this earth, died on the cross for our sins and was resurrected in 3 days. I served the devil from 2010-2012, I've had numerous dreams/encounters from devils/demons ..I knew nothing of Jesus or Christianity as a Satanist. Till, I went to a private school (Christian) and I heard a pastor speak a verse from the bible..and I became interested. ------there's a lot in between of spiritual encounters and what not. But, on Dec, 20, 2012. I finally made a decision to accept Jesus...and so I went on my knees in the bedroom, and I said out loud Jesus you are Lord, and I believed in my heart God rose you from the dead in 3 days and ... I told God all my sins, and I wept a lot and then I went to sleep. I woke up at 3 am, approximately...to a voice saying "let him go" this voice was Satan speaking to Lord Jesus. I switched beds cause I was scared..and then I tried sleeping face up..and Satan's face (outline of it) was in-front of mine while I tried sleeping. I've had experiences by calling the devil out ..by using a witchcraft spell and mocking it..the room turned cold, the lights flickered, internet went out constantly...went to sleep the devil possessed me in my sleep and asked me what I wanted. It's real... "No ones knowledge here can go beyond their experience" - John Locke .

There is a magic invisable chair in the middle of the room you cant touch feel or understand in anyway. Anything that happens in the world is because of that chair love that chair or you die and burn. That is what christianity sounds like to a sane person Its like an old man beleiving in santa. Santa _satan coincidence? Also santa =god cause he does good and knows all and he has elves/angels who do his bidding . We ignore the bad things he does such as breaking into your home and focus on the good just like god. Yes or no question YES OR NO ONLY THOSE WORDS. If i came up to you and said follow me or ill roast you on my grill, would you follow me ? If satan was an angel who is a lesser being then god how and why has god not killed him yet ? Unless god cannot commit suicide

Souljabomb Boiloki You're telling me that your god can't deal with love rejection? I mean, I have been on both sides of unrequited love, having rejected and been rejected. It's just a part of life. And though I felt bad, I didn't want to kill the other person and make them live in fire for eternity. Look if your god feels that strongly I'd suggest they get professional him help and if you are into that, well it sounds kinda like a coercive sado-masochistic relationship. But hey, if that what gets you off, and it doesn't harm any humans, animals or break the chair. Who am I to judge. Enjoy!

Souljabomb Boiloki what I'm about to say may sound like something from a childish Fantasy movie for man cannot comprehend the spiritual. About God killing Satan, that will not happen. The Bible says that he will be bound in chains and thrown into the bottomless pit when the time comes, as for now Satan rules this world(it's there in the Bible as well). We shouldn't blame God for the bad things happening to us when Satan is the ruler of this world. Why doesn't he just kill Satan so that the world would be at peace you may ask, it's because Satan didn't come here alone, he came here with a lot of other fallen Angels and to take them out would require all out war which 'may' be manifested in the physical and that sort of war may wipe out humanity. God is Love, so that war will only take place in the second coming of Christ

She was atheist when she was younger though as she was not believing in a god, you can say she was a implicit atheist, she wasn't at the age to understand the concept, so she was not doing the mental action of belief, and anybody that does not believe a god exists is a atheist. Calling a baby a atheist though really doesn't mean anything, because they have not thought about it to the degree most adult atheists have.

I think that people often forget that both sides have yet to be proven, and people continue to be hostile about the topic. The preacher was coming off as if he were trying to convert this man, which is understandable to become defensive about, and the atheist was being a bit disrespectful towards the preacher's beliefs. I don't see how the preacher got "smoked"; the atheist kid seems pretty dense, to not hear the Christian's first answer as to why he believes, which was a personal experience. That's why *most* Christians are Christian, I find, is that they claim to have had a personal "experience with god". I don't believe that's true, but who am I to say for sure? The atheist also mocks the preacher just for suggesting another book, which he seems to believe has convincing evidence for what he just stated - that the bible hasn't been disproven. Might be true or false, but this particular atheist showed no interest in actually debating that subject, only mocking the preacher further... How was the question a "logical conundrum"? There's no contradiction between "My spirit didn't exist before I was born" and "My spirit will live forever"? Idk what you're smoking. Finally, if the preacher broke the law, that's unfortunate but Idk if I'd suggest it was *morally* wrong. It was most likely for protection from the crowd (because you never know). But given that the whole point of this video is just to make fun of him, I can't say it's irrelevant to topic really.

I'm not trying to argue over whether he should or shouldn't have been punished for breaking the law; I'm saying it makes little difference in respect to the so-called "debate" the two were having before this - it doesn't, for example, point to some sort of contradiction on his part. Only if the author concedes that the real point of the entire video was just to ridicule this guy, is it even relevant. "Do you think it unfair he was arrested for teaching the word of god? Let me know what you think." I would hope he *wasn't* arrested "for teaching the word of god", just for carrying the stun gun... It would be unfair (and illegal) for the former scenario, but not unfair or illegal for the latter.

I wouldn't say that but you make a fair point in some situations. Keep in mind Christianity was not founded on the Bible - the Bible evolved from Christianity so to not use the resources of those who gave us the Bible for meaning and interpretation sake would also be foolish.

That was fucking beautiful. Some worthless preacher gets to a question he can't answer and then gives up and starts yammering about "sin", calls the other guy a "homo", and gets arrested. Did he get arrested for the insult or for protesting/preaching etc?

"Look at me, guys! I'm "Trillion89'! I don't believe in the Being that created me; the brought me into existence! I'm full of pride and I know more than God, Himself!" Really doesn't matter what the terms are, my friend. You hate/refuse God, you face the consequences. Period. That's how consequences work. It's like real life; you kill a man, you get jail time for life/death row. That's it. Courtroom judge doesn't really care if it's fair to you or not. You did what you wanted to do, and you have to pay the price for it. It's been working this way for thousands of years and you think you're smart for calling God immoral. Classify Him as immoral if you want; at least he's just.

I don't think carrying stun-guns should be illegal. A gun? Yes. Guns are very lethal, and criminals who carry them oppose a serious threat. But stun-guns? Not as much. It can make for an unpleasant experience, but many feel the need to have protection in case of emergency - and stun-guns seem like a fine choice. Imagine you're about to be attacked and you don't have that stun-gun to save you.

Just for the record, him having a stun gun is really irrelevant. I'm an Atheist and I carry a gun every day.. I took the classes, got the training and now I can conceal carry a weapon in most states in this country. One thing they teach is that all states have their own laws and it's up to you to learn them. I went to The Reason Rally as well.. I traveled to DC with my weapon, but I knew to leave it in my hotel room when I went to the rally. DC is one of the most strict states we have when it comes to gun laws. I guess one can make the argument that someone that is dumb enough to believe in an ancient fictional god probably doesn't have sense enough to learn local laws, and follow them.. Oh well..

First he says that thanks to his faith he now has a loving father... one who never visits, never calls, never writes, and never sends money... Then he says he's preaching to atheists because he wouldn't want them to be tormented forever. Except that his "loving father" seems quite happy to have atheists tormented forever. Why does he worship a god who's less compassionate than he is? Next he talks about how Lee Strobel failed to disprove the existence of his god, apparently not realizing that the burden of proof is on the person making the claim. It's also an example of appeal to authority and anecdotal evidence. Having run out of arguments to make, he starts accusing the person he's talking to of sin, and in particular supposing that the man must be a homosexual, something that would only be a sin in the eyes of the religious. Finally he's arrested for carrying an illegal weapon. Apparently he doesn't have faith that his loving father will protect him from harm.

How to win every Christion debate 101First ask them "What makes you think Jesus Christ is real?"They'll probably say something like "It says so in the bible."Then ask them "So you base your beliefs solely on the bible?"They'll probably say something like "It is the word of God."Then ask them "What makes you think the bible is authentic? What makes you think it is more divine than the Torah, Quran, or any other sacred text?"It is at this moment that you have already won this debate.
