The cops already had quite a few disciplinary actions against them. What do they have to DO to get permanently fired from ANY police force, kill somebody? Oh. They already did that. They didn't manage the scene correctly from the start. They should have shot and killed the injured bull before notifying the owner. Instead, they shoot and kill him, too. SMH. We don't put them in power over us. They have no lawful authority "over us" until we break the law. But the legal doctrine of "Qualified Immunity" must be eliminated. We must eliminate the legal doctrine of "Prosecutorial Immunity" also. And prosecutors must also be allowed to be prosecuted.

Mhmm the police do it all the time without consequences, there's a reason all the protests have happened, but those were about POC so they were "riots". Which only became that way because of police escalation and media pushing a narrative that all the people involved were violent criminals, "cities were BURNED DOWN." Where? Because a few buildings were burned the entire city suddenly was. The police have too much power and not enough accountability.

How was he not fired just from sleeping with an informant??? Both of those officers had so many red flags. There needs to be a significantly more strict elimination process for people trying to go into law enforcement. Aren't they supposed to do the MMPI test? A friend of mine had to when she was applying, but she failed so she couldn't continue in the process (which, tbh was a relief. She's never been very good at compartmentalizing). I suppose it's not fool proof, but still...

@@bthomson Frankly they shouldn't have been there at all, and I highly doubt one good cop being present would undo any and all shady stuff these two have done, would do and will do. There shouldn't have to be a "good cop" to babysit two bad cops to make sure they behave and follow the law. That responsibility shouldn't be on the good cop, they're supposed to be able to trust the other to follow protocol so everyone can do the job right. It would be one thing having two bad sales reps and one good one working at a retail store, but having two bad cops anywhere is one too many ever. It's absurd. It's dangerous. It also makes me wonder about the rest of the department they're from.

I don't know how many people realize just how enormous a Bull is, especially certain types of Bulls. The Bull most likely "charged" due to pain and fear. Contrary to popular belief Bulls are not inherently aggressive unless threatened, which this guy certainly was. There's that saying "don't shoot a bear unless your ready to finish the job, otherwise you just make it mad"... I can imagine this farmer being angry, even if he'd been sober, because the general consensus is to put an animal out of its misery, not cause it more by shooting it repeatedly in the body.

Dr. Grande, I just finished reading your book - Harm Reduction. It was a great read, I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for writing this book! I hope you keep writing because you are such a wonderful author. Here is the review for Harm Reduction: The book is about a Mental Health Counselor- Jenny, who besides being accomplished in a variety of ways, holds a fundamental wound that prevents her from achieving genuine fulfillment in life and being her true self. During one of her counseling sessions, she meets a client who turns out to be a serial killer. Her connection with him ends up being much deeper than she would like, making him a source of torment and redemption for her. The plot involves a sophisticated network of manipulation, delusions, and murder. It keeps the reader engaged and guessing until the very end. The characters are unique with intriguing personality traits. The serial killer- Rio, who displays traits of psychopathy, narcissism, delusional thinking and OCD, is a despicable and fascinating man. The cop boyfriend- Sam, despite his shallowness, is able to deliver an unexpected and provocative line “People are sheep. Plain and simple. They turn to wolves to protect them, and then they are amazed to find out that the wolves are going to do whatever the hell they want- that they are going to be wolves.” Jenny is certainly the most insightful one. She is as ordinary as she is complicated. She wants to be a good person, yet she needs to fight for self- preservation. Jenny’s doubts about her own identity, her sense of self-worth, and the shame and guilt that has followed her for many years, creates a character that is relatable in many ways. The quest for discovering who we truly are, the price of each choice we make in life and the pain of dealing with the consequences of our decisions are fundamental aspects of the human experience. Finally, Harm Reduction is an entertaining, captivating, and exciting book that not only delve into intricate works of manipulation and deception but also into the psychological aspects of the human mind. Truly recommend.

I was in a very similar situation. I was 19 and driving 60 mph in a 1994 Grand Am on a dark, foggy night when I encountered a local farmer's herd of black cows on the highway. I was uninjures except for a few spots where shattered glass had grazed me, but 5 cows died. The last two had to be put down, by the owner, while cops watched. Had he had a beer or two? Possibly. Was anybody killed? No. Did the cops shoot the cows? No. I can attest that this is largely the cops fault, who were obviously paranoid (a terrible trait in a police officer) and acted outside of the cattle owner or driver's interests.

That is so true. I had an acquaintance many years ago who was a police officer in a nearby township. Generally a nice guy, though he would complain how bored he was and that there was no "action" in the township. He became excited when our local regional airport announced job openings for security positions. He told me he got an interview that was coming up and his intent to tell them how excited he was to get a chance to look for "action". I advised him that might not be the persona he should want to project. I found out later he did not get the job.

"animals should be in a paddock" Idaho is an open range state. Another open range state is Texas. In an open range state animals are allowed to roam freely and paddocks and fencing are not required, though a property owner can put up fencing on his property to keep out the neighbors' animals. If this sounds strange, please remember the while England is 50k mi2, Idaho is 83K mi2 (almost twice the size) and Texas is 268K mi2 (over 5 times the size). The vast amount of land allows for different requirements than an area which is much smaller in size.

@@ryanbales8116 I think the reason cops won't do a "mercy killing" is that the animal is someone's property. Shooting a charging bull to protect others is one thing, but deciding to euthanize it is something else and best left to the owner (or a court order). I think, though, the farmer could have given his permission to the officers to do it, then he wouldn't have had to engage his rifle. I will agree, though, with a rifle the cops should have shot the bull in the head / heart to stop it and everything would have ended right there. The fact that all they could do is multiple body shots and didn't kill the animal says a lot about them not knowing how to handle weapons or animals.

From its inception I rejected Black Lives Matter as a political movement. My interpretation was that it is code for, "Black lives matter, but we don't really care about White people." Early on I identified with the slogan, "All Lives Matter," and since learning about the Daniel Shaver shooting, and also cases like this one, and that of Randy Weaver, I am convinced more than ever that my position is the morally correct one. Daniel Shaver, for example, an unarmed White man, was brutally executed with every bit of the savage indifference that any Black person was shot by police. Even worse, because unlike 16-year-old Ma'Kia Bryant or Jacob Blake of Kenosha, Mr. Shaver was lying prone, face down, pleading with the police officers to not shoot. FBI statistics tell us that more White people are shot by police every year than are Black people. I acknowledge that statistically, by percentage of population, Black people are shot in higher numbers, but I take into account the context. For instance, both Bryant and Blake were actually engaged in violent behavior at the time of their shootings. I'm not justifying police shooting any demographic. Quite the opposite, I'm saying we need to take race out of the grievance, because in most cases, race isn't the precipitating factor. You said the one cop with the AR shot the bull many times, and it still didn't die. This indicates one of the core problems, which isn't proficiency with a firearm, but rather that somewhere along the way police tend to respond by shooting first to resolve conflict, rather than as a last resort. Daniel Shaver's murder proves that race isn't why the police are choosing to shoot people.

The police as an institution’s real function is to defend the powerful and property. Don’t know how you interpreted BLM as not caring about non-black people. Quite the opposite in fact, the BLM protests were the largest in US history bringing together people of all races and creeds. The emphasis on black lives because of the numerous cases of police brutality and callousness to that community. White lives matter, although not exclusively, has been a vehicle for white nationalists to drive a wedge against BLM. A way to divide and conquer, which ptotects those in power and prevents real solutions
@gwenjackson8583

I tend to agree. Incompetent policing effects people of all races. Focusing only on cases that involve black victims of police and ignoring white victims leads people to believe that white people are never unjustifiably killed by police, which is untrue. Added to that, BLM is a political organization and it’s ideology and goals have a clear Communist bent. So while I believe that black lives do matter, I don’t support the organization itself because I disagree with many of its stated goals and beliefs.

That is true and their best bet is to leak it to the media immediately. The previous case Dr.Grande covered were the 2 officers killed an unarmed man the private body cam footage wasn't deemed admissible in court so the jury never saw how unreasonable the cops were being, barking contradictory orders at a terrified man even seemed to get enjoyment from taunting him, he begged them not to kill him, and they had ample opportunity to cuff the guy but choose instead to play a game of "simon says" as Dr. Grande put it. The cops were completely acquitted of any charges and given retirement with full pension benefits. The footage was later leaked to the media and you can find it on youtube now. I believe if the jury had been allowed to see the footage there is a good chance they would have charged them with manslaughter at the very least.

When the ones who enforce and make the allegation barely have to finish high school? I'd be all for making the police a very well paid job if we seriously increased the requirements to become an officer in the first place. My best advice is don't go armed, find the deputy on scene, before going into the scene, talk to him and get a plan... And if euthanizing the animal becomes necessary, my plan is to tell the deputies to shoot it, and my wife has the same instructions from me.... Cops should also be properly vetted to determine whether they are suited for the job. A move from one state to another should warrant sight of previous employer/police department testimonials/references.

Agreed, but if they do that, there won't be any cops. It's the ideal career for bullies and psychopaths.

This was murder in the part of the officers. What the hell would he been trying to do, if not shooting the bull? No criminal charges??? What a crock.

Agreed, they had to know to use a head shot. I think they just tortured that animal because they liked shooting. Years ago near where I live (rural NC) a bull got in the road there was no accident but it wouldn’t move so the people in the house nearby reported it. The sheriff’s department found out who it belonged to and the guy was on his way and another deputy just decided they couldn’t wait and starting shooting it. Luckily the were a number of witnesses most of them thought the situation was funny until the shooting started. The deputy was suspended
