I got out of a speeding ticket because of an idiot. I was doing probably about ten over on an empty highway in the middle of the night. A cop I didn't see ended up pulling me over. She took my license and reg and as she was back in her squad car checking my info some idiot came flying past going at least 20 over in the travel lane instead of following the law and moving over. He passed so close that he almost hit the cop. She immediately gave me back my stuff and said I'm free to go because she's going after the other car instead. A few miles down the road I saw the other car pulled over and most likely getting a far more expensive ticket than I would have gotten. Thanks for saving me money moron.

Uh huh. So do you really want to stand in a room with several cops, lawyers, bailiffs, and judges and argue with them that you have the right to flip them off? No matter if your right or wrong from a legal standpoint, it takes a special kind of idiot to do that. Of course if you were smart you wouldn’t be flipping off the guy who has all the tools to, at minimum, ruin your day in the first place so you do you.

Now, flashing a cop is different. That *is* public indecency. But saying “fuck you” or flipping off a cop, while inviting the cop to try and find something to arrest you for, isn’t illegal. And if he does “detain” you but there’s no reason, that is also illegal.

Great meme I saw to go with all the BMW derision: "If you ever feel useless, consider that there's a guy in the BMW factory installing turn signals!"
@randallparr680 Жыл бұрын
Before the age of temporary signals. I was held up at a bridge reconstruction. The oncoming traffic was in a very long line so at one point, the flagger picked a place to stop that line so mine could proceed. Well, the new Number two in the oncoming lane was too impatient and pulled out to pass the new Number 1. Unfortunately for him, the new Number 4 was a State Trooper who showed him the error of his ways.

I was driving on Amsterdam Avenue coming up from W 120th Street near Teacher's College. It's a two lane on each side in that area. Someone was on my right and I was in the left lane. Behind me, a rather impatient individual decides it is a good idea to pass me over the solid middle yellow line. He does that and immediately, out of nowhere, flashing lights and siren and he gets pulled over. The cars in right and left lanes then proceed on their merry way. Instant karma for that impatient guy.

This reminds me of an incident when I lived in Nashville. I was heading into work one day and noticed someone in the fast lane in the freeway speeding, and I was in the slow lane. I knew this was a popular spot for cops. I began looking for one, and it wasn't until the last second when I noticed them on my side instead of the fast lane side. Saw them a minute later on the shoulder a ways up giving the guy a ticket. Gave everyone at work a good chuckle that day.

Used to live in Mesa, AZ. There's this exit off the I-60 (Superstition Freeway), where you have next to no visibility for oncoming traffic in the curb lane as you hit the light. The overpass walls are just too high. It's about 2:30am, I've just gotten off work on the far side of Mesa, and I'm in the right turn lane. But... I'm feeling too mellow to chance being hit, and sit waiting for the light to change. As I wait patiently, the guy behind me moves into the left lane. He just forgot he wanted to make a left turn, we're cool. He comes to a full stop, then... pulls around my nose to make a right turn. I got as far as, "There's n..." in 'there's never a cop around when you need one,' when the cop behind me politely pulls into the left lane, puts on his lights and pulls sedately around my nose to make a right turn after him. Guy didn't run; he was pulled over less than two blocks down from the freeway exit.

I was driving from one Baltimore suburb to another (Pikesville to Woodlawn, to be specific). The main route between them had a section that couldn't really be expanded from the two lane winding country road it was back in the 60s, and that section was always backed up with traffic. I'm a pretty new driver at the time, and I'm driving slowly, and some guy comes flying up behind me, almost hits me (his tires screech from how fast he had to stop) and immediately starts screaming. Alternately pounding on his steering wheel with his fists and waving his hands in the air, bouncing around in his seat, his jaw flailing, doing that nonsense where they accelerate to try and get you to accelerate, then jam on their breaks when you don't. Because he was scaring me I kept driving slower and slower. He clearly would've gone across the double yellow line except the traffic on the other side of the road was bricked. Then we passed a policeman. He turned on his siren, and I saw the guy literally jump. He immediately settled down. Even when we reached the end of the two lane section, instead of speeding off like a bat out of hell and flipping me off, he drove sedately in the slow lane like a model driver. Lesson learned, hopefully.

Going to work one morning, two lane freeway with a truck lane. Some asshat was on my bumper for a few miles, I was in the number 2 lane. No other cars around, guy could have gone around. He finally swings into the number 1 lane, I speed up coming into a blind turn. Keeping him in my blind spot through the turn until we start coming out of it. On the other side I back out of the gas and he flies past me. I had been driving this stretch for about 20 years and knew something he didn't. Right on the other side there is always a CHP at this time of the morning. He didn't see it, flew past at about 30 (90mph) over speed limit. Cop caught him about a mile down the road.

Not a cop, just a fan of seeing idiots pulled over. 1st instant karma I saw was when a copper moved into the cul-de-sac I lived in, which was less than 10 houses long. The local rev-head liked to exceed the speed limit before he got to the corner. At that corner there was an empty block with head-high weeds growing in it. I was lucky enough to be walking my dog the morning the cop stepped out from the weeds w his radar gun aimed right at the rev-head. It was glorious. As was the car theif and/or speed demon who I got to see pulled over on a 2-lane roundabout/traffic circle a couple of years ago. I'd already had to dodge the bastard twice when he shot out of side streets, right in front of me, at the speed of sound with a couple of cop cars on his tail. This is in the middle of school let-out time, mind you. They sped off after him and I thought I'd seen the last of him. Then me & the whole town got to slowly cruise past him at the roundabout as he was frisked by one copper as 3 others held him down over the bonnet of his/the stolen car.

The one who got a ticket for making an obscene gesture could have fought it in court as a violation of free speech. One thing I learned long ago when I trained as a reserve deputy is that people can flip you off all they want because it's protected political speech. But I agree, that was a trap. They were likely looking for cars with out of state tags to tailgate in hopes that the drivers will speed up so they can write them a ticket. Failing that, they wrote one for obscene gesture.

INAC, so one rainy night I riding my motorbike to meet some friends when I approached a set of traffic lights. I was in the go forward lane and a car was at the left turn acting a bit weird. I slowed to 20mph and just as I got close, he pulled in front of me. If I had been doing 30, he would have hit me. So I was freaked out for a second and almost lost control in the wet but I pulled it together. As soon as I did, the car behind turned on it's blue flashing lights and speed off. I passed them a mile down the road with the cop being very serious with the driver

Many years ago, I used to travel long distances each weekend due to my work situation. One evening, I'm travelling at highway speed (100KpH/60MpH) and when I come to an overtaking lane, an SUV barrels up from behind me and passes me and several other vehicles while doing at least 110/70 and probably faster. I think to myself "I wish they'd get caught." As I pass a gravel side-road, I get a glimpse of something out of the corner of my eye. I wasn't sure, but I glimpsed an unlit headlight and had the impression that next to it was white paint with a blue-and-white checkerboard stripe. The SUV just keeps on barrelling along at the same speed even after passing everyone. I keep an eye on my rear view mirror and sure enough, a few seconds later headlights come on and a vehicle pulls out of the side-road where it had been waiting on the verge, almost certainly with a laser radar to measure speed. A minute later, they pass me and I can now see that it's definitely a marked cop car. It was around a quarter mile (0.5Km) later that I saw the red & blues light up in the distance and after another quarter mile I pass the SUV stopped on the side of the road with the cop car there, obviously ticketing them. I got my wish. If I'd known I was going to get my wish, I'd have wished for a million dollars instead. 😆

Not a cop but involved I'm but this cop was hilarious in a good way. I was stoked at a red light going to do right turn on red. Well not safe since the lanes I was turning into just got green light as started moving when I stopped so not safe to do it. A suv from the 90s so one of the big gas guzzlers got behind me and blew there horn for me to move. I ignore it. They blew there horn again. I ignore it. A third time they blew there horn now I'm waiting in the green light cause there impatient from I can't bend physics and have my truck and car be in the same place. The driver of the suv mounted the curb drove on the sidewalk kept going and squeeling tires not from suv and bam suv is now a boomerang with a f 350 in the bend. F350 guy was fine just like did i see what i thought i saw reaction. Luckily for the lady who was driving the suv she wasn't hurt but she let her karenzilla out on me. Screaming look what you did you bastered. I'm leaving what else she said for I don't know what she said means plus its been almost 6 years but from sounds of it homophobic racist sounding. Once the cop came she started crying how I pulled her out of her suv just to wreck it. All I said and did was officer would you like to see and air quoted hear my dash cam. His eyes perked up as Karen was backpeddling. Once cop saw it after getting a copy. He walked right to Karen. Bitch shut up if he went he would be in your spot now put your hands above your head your under arrest for and he listed off like 12 charges 8 of which were not wreck related

Not a cop, yada, yada. Near where I grew up is a town with a large river running through it. As a result, every road heading away from the town center is a long, steady grind up a moderate hill. The main roads are relatively wide, with one lane in each direction. For most of the roads, traffic moves relatively well, because it's easy (and legal) to pass. On one road, however, there is a school. Whichever genius laid out the sidewalks put a long line of large trees (oaks, IIRC) along the very edge of the sidewalk. In theory, it was to shield any school children from a possible car running up onto the sidewalk if there was as accident. In practice, it meant the motorists couldn't see if there were any children around, and pedestrians couldn't see if there was any vehicular traffic. Come closing time for school, it was a nightmare of darting children and emergency stops. Because of this, the road had an unusually low speed limit (30 mph, I think, rather than 40 or 50 that it would otherwise warrant), and so it was a long, straight, wide piece of no passing zone. There's a long line of cars (15 or 20) behind a city bus that's doing one mile per hour under the speed limit up the hill. Enter the boy racer, who goes scorching past this whole line of cars, and is just able to duck in front of the bus before traffic coming the other way, down the hill, would have left him having to bull his way in behind the bus. Still, with a last burst of speed, he makes it, and smartly ducks in about six inches off the bus' front bumper. Straight into the rear door of the police car that was acting as a pace car. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Lots of jeering, waving and commentary from the line of traffic as they filter past the cop writing tickets.
