In this Perth Writers Festival talk, Tariq Ali argues that very little has changed since George W Bush left the White House -- especially when it comes to foreign affairs. Writer and filmmaker Tariq Ali has written seven novels and over 20 books on world history and politics (including The Clash of Fundamentalisms, Bush in Babylon, Pirates of the Caribbean , The Duel and The Obama Syndrome ). He has also penned a number of plays for stage and screen. He currently worked as an editor for New Left Review . Presented by the Perth Writers Festival, March 2011

@copym3 Well, seems like I'm going to have to subscribe to your channel, including to be notified when you upload more video clips. Multi-part videos : You might leave or make multi-part videos single video clips. Now that Google owns KZbin, it seems that people can readily upload full clips, rather than needing to split them into parts, as usually was formerly required by KZbin for most users. Single full clips are a little better for viewing, but you did a good job with this set

Seems very good, but what good did Margaret Thatcher do? And Tariq Ali says Israel has the 6th largest mil. force in the world, while I've seen several different people over recent years saying that Israel has the 4th and 5th most powerful mil. force. It's possible for a force to be smaller in size, while nevertheless being more powerfully weaponized, esp. with nuclear weapons and politics. For pols, Israel is an eg, due to being (more than) backed by Washington et al; and Israel has nukes.

@demarcos69 And I think you're right, for Tariq Ali isn't the kind of person who'ld be a fan of Thatcher at all; I believe. I know that I definitely wouldn't be and that many humane analysts, ... also wouldn't be.

I love the fact he mentions the german subs armed with nuclear missiles in Israel and it some how made the news NOW in June 2012. Fast food and slow news ... that's how we roll right now.
