I’m glad you enjoyed this movie. It’s a creepy sort of fun, and a pretty good lesson. And that painting is called “Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh, you got it right. And I’m sure someone said this elsewhere, but one theory on why Mister Bobinsky was blue was for the medal he was wearing. He’s wearing a liquidator medal that was awarded to those who aided in the cleanup of Pripyat after the Chernobyl disaster. So fans theorized that he was exposed to radiation. All that said, while he is wearing a liquidator medal the creators of the movie said that he was blue because he spends so much time outside in the cold. Wearing nothing but shorts and an undershirt, I can see how anyone would turn blue. Just a bit of trivia since you were wondering.

I took my girls to see this when they were about 7 and 8. They loved it and we bought it on DVD. It was one they watched many times at home. I think they loved it because it made them appreciate how much better their lives were than Coraline's. :)

Mr. Bobinsky wore the Russian Hero Medal for Service at the Chornobyl Nuclear Disaster on April 26, 1986. Which reads on the front, "Participant in the clean-up campaign." That's why he's got a blue grayish complexion.

This is based on a graphic novel, and the strange thing is that in the original artwork, everyone looked normal (except for the other family and the button eyes). The weird character designs were done just for this movie.

Okay, so the (real) mom and dad are not winning any ‘Parents of the Year’ awards. But- try to keep in mind, 1. This is from Coraline’s point of view, so it isn’t entirely objective; and 2. The movie subtly hints that Coraline’s parents are going through a particularly rough, stressful time, financially and in other ways (move to a new place, Mom’s accident, etc). My guess is in more ordinary times they are not generally as neglectful as they are shown to be here.

😎👍 This film was the first in a trilogy of stop-motion animation features, all made by the same people. The next two are "Paranorman" (2012) and "The Boxtrolls" (2014), which are also very fast-paced and elaborately produced like this. As a matter of fact, with Halloween coming up, "Paranorman" would be a perfect film to watch in October. 👻 You (and your dog) are always a lot of fun to watch. 😉

Dasha, you are one of the best movie reactors on youtube! It is a shame you don't have more subscribers at this point. You should have at least double what you have now. I've been watching your reactions from the beginning and I have loved your journey as a movie reactor. I can remember the old days when you would pucker your lips and fluff your hair at the camera anytime something got intimate in the movie you were watching. I'm going to try to like and comment on every one of your reactions, even if it is a movie I don't particularly care for, to help your channel.
@GetFitwithDogs
@GetFitwithDogs 2 ай бұрын
I know a YT channel she could easily get on for an appearance on one of their shows. The appearance would significantly boost her subscribers... but I've never recommended it here. TBH, while I think Dasha would do really well on the show, I'm still too concerned about it to make the suggestion. If she went on and it didn't go as well as I suspect, I'd feel awful so I've kept it to myself. It's probably best that Dasha just keep doing what she's been doing and the subscribers will come. Sometimes the long road is the best one.

IMO, she needs to put out some YT shorts videos that shows her big reactions to scenes that jump scare or are highly emotional. Like the time she jumped from the sudden severed head scene in Jaws, that was hysterical.

@calm713 That's not a bad idea at all. 👍 I have similar ideas to help her channel, but she has never asked us for help. I figured that if she wanted new ideas, she would ask, right? Either way, IMO she's still the most interesting and likeable reactor. I'm going to follow her reactions whether they change or stay the same. Like you I just would like to see her be as successful as possible. I suppose that I'll have to become a Patron at some point.

^ In my experience - as a social person who has known a lot of people - the individuals that say rude things for no reason out of nowhere have their own issues that they should be dealing with. For whatever reason, they choose to be rude to others instead. Its always easier to point your finger than to point one at yourself, eh? One thing the people like this all seem to have in common is that they're very resentful and miserable. Worry about yourself.

One of the places I'd like to live is in the upper Michigan peninsula. It's rural, remote, beautiful landscapes, and not to hot in the summer. Plus, they have wolves, which is awesome. I was looking at some land for sale up there, but ultimately decided against it. While I do love the idea of being remote and in the wilderness, I couldn't be away from civilization for too long. I think I'd get bored, even if I created a large shelter for animals and dogs (which is something I'm very interested in). I still like the idea of spontaneously going out to a bar, hitting some nice restaurants, or going to a fair, etc. I just didn't see much of that available in the Upper Peninsula. Maybe a nice vacation spot there would work for camping trips or something. Sometimes our dreams don't always work out as intended, eh?
