as someone who knows quite little about filmmaking but finds it incredibly interesting, i think you’re on to something insane with #2 (the right). the fact that the first time Coraline crosses to the other side of the screen is when she’s falling asleep seems hardly unintentional.
@deaconyates26714 ай бұрын
How about, it changes once she enters the other world, a common misconception is that Coraline escapes. She doesn’t, every time she passes a tunnel she’s going in deeper. The garden party at the end was the attention Coraline always wanted and love the bedlam was wanting to feed from. None of it was real from the first time Coraline entered. There are many clues, the poison oak healing so fast, the toys in her room changing and not changing back, the abandoned groceries, cell phone and VW, (do you really think the bedlam could capture two adults) and the most telling, when the beldam mimics Coraline’s mother (Mel) at the end of the tunnel she has snow on here hair and real eyes just like when when Coraline thinks she’s escaped. For 15 years I have been watching the wrong movie. This movie is superb in every way.

i think it was cinema therapy who said this that I agree with where coraline is a cautionary tale of trusting things or people that seem too perfect. like if something or someone seems too good to be true, it most likely is. or it could even be about abusers where no matter who the abuser is in your life; family member, friend, partner, etc. They constantly butter you up and shower you with love to make you trust them and never ask for anything in return. But there will always come a time where they will ask you to do something you're not comfortable with or goes against your morals, and uses the excuse of, "i did all of this stuff for you so why can't you do this one thing for me?" and manipulate others with that.

Fun little fact for you. Each Laika film has a Nike shoe for it. The CEO of Laika Is Phil Knight's son. The shoe for this movie was never sold and it was only given away via a twitter raffle link that was at the end of the credits. There are a little over 1000 pairs out there. The extra few pairs are special boxes that come with actual movie props that are on the shoe. 5 of them are numbered wooden boxes and I have seen 1 on the market ever. I own two pairs of the shoe because this is my favorite Laika film and I also am a huge enjoyer of stop motion. I wear one and the other I just keep on ice. The model is a Dunk if you want to look it up.
