I just love flowers, many varieties, more towards pastel colours, now, Lisianthus I am stating today, is my favourite flowers, even more than roses and dahlias! The flowers are fabulous.

I know editing these videos is time consuming but if you could even do a short instruction based video on building the cooler we would definitely watch! We are planning on using a cool bot and modifying an area of an existing building into a cooler space soon and would love the info! Great video! Waiting ever so impatiently for my lissis to bloom!

NC grower here. I have seen the same with lisianthus and planting different groups at the same time. It gives about the same window as you saw.

Farmer Bailey did a long video on lisianthus earlier in 2024 - very helpful - and he also mentioned that the grouping bloom time differences are more on the order of days to a week and not weeks or more.

Your videos are so helpful -- and fun! I am a small scale flower farmer in 8a, so your info is so relevant! Could you please describe your tunnel soil prep and fertilizing during the growing season? I think that you mentioned, in another video, bringing in compost and foliar feeding until blooms set, but also that your farm's soil is naturally wonderful. Anything in particular for lizzies, ranunculus, snaps? Thanks so much for your videos.

You might be able to do a fall plant for your zone since they are very cold tolerant. I don’t know for plugs how that works though. I’m zone 6 and I started mine from seed and planted out in march. I covered with frost cloth if we got below 20 and mine survived.

Thanks for another helpful video! Have you shared photos/recipes for your bouquets with lisianthus? (Maybe I missed it?) With their higher price point I'm curious how many stems you're including per bouquet and which other flowers you've found mix the best with them to get to that $20 or $25 retail.

how do you control air flow in the tunnel? It must be so hot in Oklahoma! I would simply suffocate! Is it just the areas that are lifted or do you use fans? I will be growing in Michigan.

Great video! Didn't know about snip the 1st bloom, harvest with 3+ blooms. Those Lissies look amazing! How many of them go into a bouquet? I've been pairing voyage champagne & roseanne brown w/ madame butterfly snaps & potomac purples to get a brighter bouquet but you are right. I need less antique/romance in summer and more colors that POP! 😅

It's true that you can plant them at tue same time, & they will still bloom at their normal time. Actually, even if you try to plant one group later, it will still bliom at tue time its supposed to, just on shorter stems. So yes, you should plant them all at the sane time. There have been I think 1 year where I had about 3 weeks in between groups, but its usually a put 7-10 days. Its not like snaps, where each group blooms pretty far apart... Also, theres actually 4 groups of lissies. But grpup 3 & 4 usually bloom about the same time... Tunnel looks great! I cant wait til i get mine up this fall!

Technically there's 5 groups lol. I think it's Sakata that has a Group 0.

Just found this and love the video since I ordered Echo for Oct arrival from Baily (love your pic on his site) and I am going to try to overwinter it in my new tunnel (I'm in Upstate SC -7b/8a cusp) - have you thought of trying overwintering them? Just curious - it' an experiment (year 3 farmer here) so I thought I'd ask! BTW - you look beautifully pregnant!!
@CoramDeoFarm3 ай бұрын
Thank you Tina! We haven’t tried overwintering mainly bc we dont need to and it would just add extra labor all winter for us. We have found it easiest to just plant end of Feb thru March. They wouldn’t bloom any earlier anyways bc they need the summer heat so it wouldnt gain us much I don’t think
@tinalee76503 ай бұрын
@@CoramDeoFarm That makes perfect sense!! I'm going to try it to see if we can get a jump on it for maybe end of May/early June since it gets pretty hot here beginning in April! I figure it's worth a try since that's the time we are struggling for focal flowers, lol!! And if it happens to work - YAY! If not, I've wasted $67 on worse experiments! Thanks for responding and hope you're feeling great!!

@serenababy63585 ай бұрын
As a home gardener, I really debated about buying the rootshield for Lisianthus in my raised beds (growing for the first time this season), but decided I couldn't afford it. I took the risk and bought the seeds from Johnny's allowing myself to fail at growing them and now they are perfectly fine without Rootshield. Growing Champagne Voyage & Roseanne Brown. They are GORGEOUS. At the time of planting, all I put in the soil was Biotone fertilizer. I wouldn't buy Rootshield unless I saw a huge crop failure due to fusarium wilt.

When you say $3 per stem does this mean you cut a stem that could have like 5 flowers on and divide it into stems or actually sell the full large stem fir $3
