I know it is months later but still I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother. Then on to hear that your mother is not doing well. Both of those things are difficult to deal with when they are months or years apart and very heavy when they happen near together. I hope that by the time you read this you are finding your way out from the stress of heartache and headed into the more happy memories of your grandmother and that your mother is fully recovered so you can indulge in making more happy memories with her. BTW, Thanks for taking the time for this vlog. I had a passing knowledge of corded corsets but didn't understand exactly what that entailed. Thanks!

Regency makes everyone look pregnant. 😄 While it's an interesting period I totally understand why it didn't last very long.

The cording looks beautiful, nice work. I couldn't help but notice you seem to have a lot of books on your bookshelf...would you consider sharing a few of your favorites. Thanks, looking forward to your review next week!

Yeah "doll needles" or "leather needles" are awesome for so much more than their original purpose!!

I just finished my first pair of stays (well, at least a mockup) too! But mine are probably a bit more from earlier in the 19th century

Nicely done! Looks great! Your eyelets are marvelous. The cording is a wonderful pattern. Thanks for the tip on the water soluble pen, I'm definitely going to seek one of those out!

I also like to use a Pilot Frixion ball point gel pen; the gel ink is thermal reactive with very little ghost images.

Okay, here I am creeping on your older vlogs, and I don't even know if you still reply to the comments on these older ones, but do you have a link for that light table? That's a genius idea to get the cording traced onto the fabric!!!

Maybe it's doing this in scale but I have so much practise in finding things that do the job that you wouldn't consider (cable ties make the best tiny stays) but for your stay roll, knitting needle rolls, they're often next to nothing on places like eBay and you can get them free on magazine covers and things, and if you know a knitter they probably have like three they don't use extra they'll give up for the cause, it might save you a job

So, you mentioned a couple of vlogs ago that someone said you're not supposed to use coutille? Was there a valid reason for that, because it looks great. Much prettier than the denim I used. How do you get the cords in? You showed a long needle but what do you do once it's inside the fabric to keep it moving forward? Sorry so many questions. My experience with corsets is one fail and one half finished before I gave up and put stays in the dress itself. And neither was historically accurate in any way.
@sierralarars
@sierralarars 5 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing it's probably because it's not historically accurate? I mean there is only so far we can go really as most of the materials used back then are no longer made and if they are the quality is vastly different.

Hahahaha, yes, I'm a big girl. I want it sucking everything in. I was watching Bernadette talk about how women didn't need to tight-lace their corsets to get that figure and I just laughed and laughed.

It’s not a tutorial… it’s a vlog. So I don’t “teach”, I just show you what I’m doing. I have no idea what “dp the chording” means though, so I can’t really help you.
