@@hafsa1698 Simon and Wille’s first conversation, **spoiler** the football field scene was all improvised by Edvin, **spoilers** the scene where Simon is naming the fish, the hug/nuzzle/neck kiss was improvised by Edvin and made Omar forget his lines which is why he had such difficulty naming the fish 🥺😂

Idk Erik had close relationship with Wille but was also strict with the whole "royal image" and rules.

@@sapphiro I think he would have been more supportive of Wilhelm’s right to have a same sex partner. After all Erik could get on with producing the next generation of heirs and, being younger than his mum, he might also recognise the potential positiveness of having an LGBTQ+ member of the royal family. Same sex marriage is legal in the Church of Sweden so as a society Sweden is more liberal in its LGBTQ+ rights than many western democracies. The only stumbling block is the ban on surrogacy and if you don’t have to produce a royal heir, that’s less of an issue (unless of course you are desperate to have kids).

The actor who plays Wille said that Wille's problem is not that he likes boys/Simon, his problem is that he's a prince. I think that's such an important distinction: there's nothing wrong with boys liking boys; there IS something wrong with societal pressure to be something you're not.

In episode one you can see that when Wilhelm and his family are preparing for the apology speech, him and Erik are asked to switch places. AMAZING FORESHADOWING!! The writing and the director are amazing.

What I find interesting about Wille’s internalized homophobia is that I don’t think that it actually is. I think he’s using the I’m not like that excuse as a way to explain not being with Simon when the real reason is because of his status. If he wasn’t a prince, I don’t for a second think he would’ve backed off. Also Erik😭😭😭 The writer and creator of the show said she think Erik understood about Wille not being straight/liking a boy before he died. He would’ve accepted and protected him 😭😭😭

The ending is even sadder when you realize that Erik most likely would’ve been the first person Wilhelm would’ve come out to (besides Simon) and probably the only one who would have been really supportive. Now literally the only person Wilhelm has is Simon.

I feel like it being 6 episodes is part of it being of such high quality. I'm pretty sure if it was 22 the writing couldn't be half as good and therefore the characters wouldn't be nearly as compelling. If being only 6 episodes is what it takes to create strong, understandable, interesting characters I 100% endorse it.

I really liked Corey acknowledging the authenticity of Wilhelm's reaction to the kiss: "I'm not like that!" and not talking like this makes Wilhelm some kind of jerk. I have seen so many commenters have their feathers ruffled when a character is not instantly and fully supportive of their own or another's sexuality. What I like most about this series (and Victor) is that characters behave in ways that I have seen in my own experience. If everything was unrealistically sweetness and light, I wouldn't bother watching. Where would the drama come from in a perfect world? And of course August is going after Felicia - her family is one of the wealthiest in the nation. It's the age-old solution for aristocrats running out of cash - marry a rich commoner. And in this case, Felicia has already said she wants to marry into royalty.

“Sara read the room”…I know how you meant it and you corrected yourself, but that’s probably what makes it so hard for Sara to fit in. She isn’t the best in reading the room, because of her aspergers. She is honest, because often autistic people don’t see the need in being dishonest, just to make a situation less uncomfortable and have problems with reading social cues of neurotypical people (I’m not an autistic person, so if anyone is autistic themselves, please feel free to correct me!!). Which is why most people probably tend to “not like her” because they think in a neurotypical way of “oh, she wanted to get me in trouble”, whereas Sara herself just said what is true, because she doesn’t see a problem with that. I think we should keep that in mind for later actions of Sara as well 🙈 the actress does a great job in portraying aspergers, it makes it even better, that she knows what she is portraying because she herself is autistic as well! Very interesting and great to see a realistic way of Portrayal in a tv show 🥰

I’m autistic and have those troubles. I actually “told” on people a lot in like elementary/middle school about little things because I didn’t know it was telling, I thought I had to say something because for me any little thing seemed like a big deal. I still have trouble with holding myself to way too high of a moral compass (if I have the slightest mistake I start to like flap or hyperventilate) that literally no one can live up. I’m worked with my therapist to not put so much pressure on myself. Hi have OCD which is definitely part of it. It Elian be annoying not evening able to know what to say and when to or not to say it.

Also just to let you know it’s no longer called Asperger’s it’s called Autism Spectrum Disorder. Turns out Hans Asperger’s was a nazi who decided who with autism should live or die based on there functioning skills and intellect. Those “worth” in his eyes would live and the others would die. Autism is a spectrum so what would be considered higher up on the spectrum (I don’t really like functioning labels but this is the easiest way to explain it) would have been diagnosed with Asperger’s before but now it falls under just autism.

Just wanted to mention that Erik's actor said that the choice that Erik didn't use specific pronouns when talking about Wilhelm's crush in the last conversation was deliberate, as he probably already suspected that Wilhelm may be into boys. You picked up on that as well. And Wilhelm's actor Edvin said on Twitter just today (when asked) that Erik would have been supportive of Wilhelm and Simon. Just find that a nice thought, while we're all really sad that he died.

Hello, Happy to listen and share opinions on this great series. You talked about judgement, I feel that the scenario gave us on purpose "unperfect" characters, all of them without exception will make mistakes, or take questionable decisions along the show. And it seems like it is part of the authenticity of the show I appreciate a lot, more credible characters with flaws, than most of the "too perfect" shows we are used too. You also talked about Wille looking for his sexuality, or awkward kiss with Simon, or tough reaction in the piano scene. I also think it is part of the authenticity, credibility they want to portray. The royalty question is not only about sexuality, but social class, allowed for Wille's partner. and even if the royal fammily accepted his partner, they would have to hid most of the time, because they live hidden from paparazzi all their life....burden difficult to ask to a partner true, but unless he goes apart from his familly, he has no choice. August is played by a great actor, don't you thing? We love to hate him. I was shocked by the death announcement by phone. She is his mother, a presence wold have been appreciated, haven't it? What do you think?

"The bull for the private tooting" LOL! I love these reaction videos because there is so much to analyze and enjoy about this series. I knew the ending was coming. It had to be the older brother or the mother who died and when the Queen's voice came through the line I knew it was the brother who died. I have a theory that the brother knew Wilhelm liked boys; Erik was his closest friend and that's why he didn't use female pronouns. I could not understand why August wouldn't sell one or two pieces of art work to gain enough capital to pay for his school tuition since graduating from that academy was so precious to him, but there might be a deeper emotional meaning to it, where Ornas is the embodiment of his father and selling any of it, even the curtains would mean killing his father or something like that. I LOVED, absolutely loved, the scene with Simon and Sara when they are in his room before he was to leave back to school! There sibling bond is so strong and lovable!

I guess Wilhelm definitely knows that he‘s gay and he‘s okay with it. He‘s totally into Simon and he never really tried to deny it or even push him away. And the way Erik talked to him without speaking about a girl, makes me think that he also knew or at least had a feeling. Unfortunately we‘ll never know 😢 Erik‘s Death makes Wilhelm the crown prince. More pressure, more responsability, more duties. It‘s sad, he grew up in a Society which is not very tolerant… Enjoyed your reaction! Keep it up!!! Looking forward to episode 4 😉

Edvin and the writer actually talked about how Wille doesn’t have a label for his sexuality, they think it’s important to show that someone can be a bit fluid and not make it a situation where they need to come out or identify themselves with gay/bi/pan etc

I’ve really enjoyed your reactions to Young Royals, they are so honest and I love your predictions (especially as I know of you’re right or not because I may have watched this series a few times!). It’s lovely to watch someone else work through it. Re the parents day thing: it is quite common in boarding schools where maybe once a term parents are invited for some event and then can take the kids away for the weekend. The weekend is called an exeat weekend here in the UK. Not sure if SA boarding schools have them as well, I think they do from previous conversations with an SA friend who boarded. It would be common for some kids to stay at the school because either their parents were busy or too far away to be able to travel for a weekend, but often those kids would be invited to school friends’ houses instead.

I know I’m super late but, to people referring to Sara’s autism as ‘Asperger’s’, please don’t. It’s got ableist connotations. 　- - Basically, it’s a term coined(?) by Hans Asperger who was a N@zi doctor. The term was created as a way to separate the people who were “high-functioning” (aka: academically able & verbal) from the people who were “low-functioning” (less academically able and typically non-verbal) as a way of deciding who “deserved to be alive”. (Basically the whole term was created to fuel eugenics).
