Thank You for the memories. It's been so long ago, but tonight I remembered teaching this in Sunday School around Thanksgiving & our town Library to a room full of children. They loved it!!!! I recognized the pages you showed of directions & like you, I probably still have them. As our daughters are 40 & 46 now, it has been a long time ago!!! But such a HAPPY Time. I'm still a sentimental soul & so glad I have come across you on U-tube. May God Bless You & Yours, Sharol Aid Cleveland, Texas

That's a nice memory with the children. I kept the directions because I wrote the article, but I'm missing the page showing the large quilting bee. When I saw the date of 1988, I realized how much time had passed.

I started making cornhusk dolls for a Girl Scouts project, we harvested our own corn husks from a farmer’s field, soaked corn husks in glycerin and water and made simple dolls! I became fascinated with them and went on to make signed dolls in vignettes, making baskets and flowers from corn husks. Also Christmas trees of corn husk, with candles made with dipped thread. It was quite a business for a country wife! I love your painted faces and delightful ladies! Blessed and safe days!

How did I miss this last month??? This brought back so many memories of time with my children making corn husk dolls when they were young. My youngest is now in her 40's so that's been quite a while ago - actually before your pattern was published. I wish it had been available earlier. You remember how hard it was to learn crafts like this before the advent of the computer. As for corn cob uses. I have actually seen them used as chinking in a log cabin!
