I think this is one of my favorite videos. I love the background music, the sounds of all the cooking utensils & ingredients. I prefer watching this instead of any home/cooking channel on TV. The prep leads to the excitement. I wonder, what neat antique, beautiful art, gadget, preserved recipe, background story, instruction, tips, will she give us? These episodes are precious!!! Thank you! P.S. Never heard of “hartshorn”, pretty neat, even the grater for the spices, ya gotta love it!!🥰🌸

Hi Jeri, my daughter is head gardener at anne hathaways house and shakespeares birthplace house. :) so I enjoyed this so very much. Hanleys , is based in stoke-on-trent, the heart of the potteries in the UK, nearly all tea sets and fine china ornaments were made in stoke. As were the famouse staffordshire flat backs. Sadly not many potteries are left there now, but I do believe Hanleys is still going. I visited there with my mother about 10 years ago. I LOVE the moulds, I also collect moulds, and it was so nice to see yours. I dont think you ever see two the same. Have a wonderful week and thanks for another beautiful vlogg xxxx

My grandma used to make these cookies,,, she rolled them out about the same but had a rolling pin w/squares and little figures on it ...then she cut each square out and let them dry a long time (but when you’re a kid anytime you have to wait for a cookie is a long time! Lol) Then she baked them and the smell was heavenly! When they came out of the oven they were little pillow cookies with a pocket of air...! It made them Devine 💖. I loved them! Gma would make each of us grandkids a Christmas Cookie Box (decorated of course) this cookie was one of the selection! Beautiful memories 🙏💖🙏

Hello, it is quite seldom to see somebody from the US baking Springerle. I am from southern Germany and we still make Springerle. We make them for Christmas. Our recipe calls for: 4 Eggs, 500g powdered sugar, 500g flour, 1 knife point of Hirschhornsalz and Anis. The Springerle should dry over night. The next day you brush the Springerle at the bottom with water, than sprinkle Anis seeds on the waxed baking sheet, put the Springerle on top and bake on low heat. Love your Springerle, they look good and for me it feels like Christmas...

Thank you so much for this beautiful time with you. I have a friend that learned scherenschnitte . She did them for Christmas and gave me 2 of them. They hang from my light over the table. I also was given one that was a valentine framed. You made them come a live. The little coffee cups remind me of my collection of tiny cups and saucers. I was allowed to drink coffee but had cream more than coffee when I was a child. I have 3 of them and they mean so much to me. I have 2 sets of silver . They are from my Grand fathers cousins , they were all from Denmark. The small silverware was used for a Danish coffee. One set had a fork and a spoon. The others were one side a fork contacted a thicker side for scooping up or cut what ever you needed it for. They have an England stamp on the back. I can barely see it with a magnifying glass. The cookies were a delight. But wow you have to have patience. I loved every minute of this video. I thought about my Grandparents and friends. I have used the silver different times. I keep them in little plastic bags and they don't tarnish in them. Oh I almost forgot. I saw you drop sugar cubs into a bowl. That was a must at Grandma's. Well Happy Valentine's Day Jeri and thank you again for taking the time to show us your beautiful cutting out those tiny hearts and flowers. you have the patience. Joyce

Ooh, I'm so curious about the 24 hour batch! This video was an absolute treat! I've been obsessed with springerle, and sometime around November I sketched out several patterns that I thought I might try to carve on my own. I have experience with linocut, and my own hubris assured me that wood wouldn't be *too* difficult a medium to switch to.😅 Let me just say, it took me 6+ hours to complete only 3/4 of the woven outer border. My roses look a trifle smooshed, but in all honesty, I think it's a good beginning for a first attempt! I ultimately set the project aside for a bit, but only because a new mania consumed me. Speaking of new manias, your stunning Valentines have inspired me...🤔😅thanks again for an amazing video!

Gorgeous video Jeri, always enjoy watching. The crockery was made by Wyott and sons, and as far as I can gather they were made approximately in the 1950s. My sister in law lives in Warwickshire so I will try and get some more information. We are still on a strict lockdown here in England, so things not so good at the moment. Your video came at the perfect time for me, enjoyed with my cup of coffee 🤗 I have an eighteenth century beautiful museum in the parkland behind my house. I used to belong to the Walker family who were pioneers in iron and steel production in South Yorkshire. It's a stunning house and I often visit ( when out of lockdown) and have a coffee in the quaint coffee shop. It's like going back in time, I love it there. Waffle over lol Take care, stay safe xx

I like to add cardamom, because I can drink so much more coffee since the cardamom takes all the jittery business out of coffee. That’s how Indians can drink all that delicious, strong, authentic spiced chai. Cardamom is also a good remedy when you’ve had too much coffee. Just steep a quarter teaspoon or less in a cup of hot water and drink it down. 😘

Hi Jerry! I loved to see you bake our traditional Christmas cookies. My grandma used to make them all the time. They are a traditional german Christmas cookie, which a lot of people do not bake anymore. So wonderful to see you make this historical cookie which descends from the Middle Ages. It says to dry it for 24h beforehand, then bake it on 150° Celsius for 15 to 20 minutes and to put the baking sheet on a wet towel before baking as well. This is the german instruction: "Die Springerle 24 Stunden lang in einem warmen Raum stehen lassen und erst einen Tag später im vorgeheizten Backofen bei 150°C (milde Hitze) ca. 15-20 Minuten lang backen. Oh this is such a beautiful video Jeri!!! One of my favorites for sure. I have so many favorites !!! You are a treasure indeed ❤️ One more thing, have you seen the movie All Is True? It’s a beautiful movie about Shakespeare and Ann. I absolutely love it. Judy Dench plays Ann. I own it and have watched it so many times. The more I watch it, the more I love it. I see and hear something new each time. I also have the soundtrack...love it too. PS...the movie mentions the “second best bed” 😊 Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️

@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow I think you’ll really like it. And like I said, the more I watch, the more I like. I also like the fact it looks real, as far as the darkness of the rooms with the candlelight, etc. ❤️

I'm so sorry for your losses. Jeri is correct. God is always with us. Our life on this earth is but a breath but we who believe have eternity to spend with our Savior. Jesus is coming. Let me comfort and encourage you with those words as Paul instructed us to do. 🙏

My stepmother was from Pennsylvania and several of her relatives came for Christmas one year. All speaking German. We had to forego the Christmas morning traditional gift opening and stuffed stockings because they opened their gifts at midnight. My stepmother said she was from a gypsy bloodline and one Halloween she pulled out a chest with large beaded jewelry for us to wear as gypsies. Kerchief in our hair and dresses with prints. I guess she was a Pennsylvania German.

Works of art that you can eat, just gorgeous! I would be tempted to use the molds with clay for some faux cookies to display. I made my hubby a paper cut Valentines, just a simple one this year. Yours are truly works of art. Thanks as always for sharing, have a lovely week, stay warm and safe.

Happy Valentine's Day Jeri! First of all I must say that I'm admiring your flared blouse sleeves, so adorable! I can only imagine what the rest of your blouse looks like! :) Perfect for the day! The Cookies are so detailed and beautiful, they seem like a lot of work and I would hate to clean the wood presses! The Valentine's are lovely and I see exactly why you adore them, with all the flowers and peacocks and all! Nice history lesson on William and Ann, I never knew about her. Your little heart dish is adorable! Thanks for sharing!

Your patience for detail never ceases to amaze. Those paper cuttings are so nctedibly beautiful. And can we talk about that table covering in the Shakespeare segment...is that colonial jaquard coverlet? I’m gonna gave one (or 2) SOMEDAY! I’m on the hunt 😊

Yes, Isn't that a marvelous Coverlet?! I was thrilled when I found it for a decent price. The date is woven into the corner 1849, not quite Colonial, but still 170 years old.

I love your videos! I have just begun to watch them, because of Arne. I have many of the things in this video, the Lenox Winter dishes plus I have made Scherenschnitte, and I have many Springerle molds. I am just realizing that I might have come from another era, but have been ignoring this my whole life! I look forward to watching all of your videos. I found your website and store online. I told my sister about your KZbin channel. She lives in Lynchburg TN.

You will put those Springerle molds to use now, (although they make great wall ornaments). The cookies are such a delight each time you pull the mold up from the dough and see the image!
