To finish the corned beef my mom makes a delicious sauce. Mix brown sugar, yellow mustard, and cinnamon in a bowl. There are no measurements, just add ingredients to your preference. When the corned beef is done take it out of the crock pot and put the corned beef in oven safe pan and cover the top of the corned beef with the sauce. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. Make sure to have extra sauce for dipping. So delicious!

Bev, only 4 hours in the crock pot for corned beef? I always cook mine for like 7 or 8 hours on high. Corned beef should have a stringy texture to it when it's done. Unless you guys eat it rare?
@karendoc3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jomama! 8 hours on low makes for a more shredded meat whereas 4 hours on high makes a meat that needs to be sliced. Most packages weigh around 3-4 lbs on average but can be different depending on where you live and shop.I like corned beef both ways but the firmer style is nice for slicing thin for sandwiches. Yummy! Happy St Patrick's Day!

Well done on the corned beef and cabbage . In Ireland we would actually consider bacon and cabbage to be the traditional dish . Corned beef became popular among the irish who emigrated to the U.S.A as Bacon either wasent as plentiful or too expensive back then . I was hoping you would have tried my Dublin Coddle by now ) .Either way I hope you enjoyed St.Patrick's Day and that you all are keeping well. Maybe we could do a live cookalong type thing with an Irish dish if you want 😋.

@@OurHalfAcreHomestead they really are. You kind of get used to it until you see a video from another country that shows prices. Saw an American video a few days ago that said 1.5lbs of chicken thighs was $2.50. That’d be $14 here. One had a great big bag of radishes that were 99c. Little bunch of about 6 or 7 radishes is $3.50 here. Have lately been watching a Scottish channel and she does a weekly grocery haul video and their produce prices are way cheaper too. Can’t wait to move and have raised beds again so I can grow my own veg. Will be raising my own meat too. Hoping to get about 5 acres. Fresh, homegrown food and no more noisy neighbours. Just gotta get this house ready to sell.

@@OurHalfAcreHomestead ahhh, that explains it. I was thinking it must be subsidised in some way. I do prefer to pay a bit more and know the animals have had better lives. I asked a butcher once if their meat was grass fed. He was like duh, have you ever gone for a drive in the country? Lol. Yeah, lots and lots of grass. Of course they’re fed that! We’ve got plenty of space of course so that makes much more sense than feedlots. We also only get snow up in the hills, so no need to bring all the stock inside over winter. Much easier.
