My oldest machete is a Panga. I bought it 25 years ago at a small grocery shop. I shaped the wooden handle and put a finger choil in it. The blade came right up to the handle so I made some room. It chops very well. It’s a good heavy machete. You need to try out a Tapanga, the square fronted machete. Those are heavy choppers.

Nice surplus machete. W/ a little fine tuning they can be great tools. Speaking of gear though ive started going back to meecury thermometers. The digital programs are usually all different or outright wrong & i got tired of averaging those numbers. lol

The panga I got with the surplus pack is some sunflower brand british steel with a real wood handle. Probably my favorite of the bunch

I really like the panga style myself but it’s hard to find a way to carry it!!

How does a panga compare to a bolo. Both have weight at the end. Im just curious because were the bolo looks cool to me the panga doesn't. But that's just my taste. I really like the new condor terrachete. I got it a week or so ago. What i can say is condor did come with a working edge. Thats something im not used to in a machete. Usually its a nasty mess. Its got two grinds a convex and a scandi near the handle which is the best handle ive ever found on a machete.

Got the 5 pack for $30 years ago . Got this same exact machete in the pack. These aren’t beautiful they are good working tools. You don’t want a razor edge on these. You can hone the edge with a smooth creek stone. Well worth the $ imo

Last video I attempted to add a 2nd comment about the Collins machete, but it would not allow me, I tried numerous times with no success. Anyway Collins was made 1845-1965, and Amazon has a book about them $125 ! Your Collins will be a collector item !!

Thats all soft wood you have there. I have the same machete just seem to be rebranded of an Spanish brand (Bellota) which is identical and now made in Colombia as well. A finger thick brush I have to hack about 25 strong strikes till they get here down in Latinamerica. We have here only hard wood. The oak or whatever you chop there is softest wood. If that would be hard wood on that thick of an branch you would hack about 100 strong strikes. I see you do that puss in 4 strikes. If it is soft wood it is a pleasure to work with that machete. Once it is hard wood you start to sweat and get soon blisters on the hand.
