Reg on the phone to Rita was amazing. I used to have to watch this with my mum, and for this one I was 9 at the time and used to hate it...but now I'm hooked again. I know every character and remember the storylines. It's bonkers.

I wish Barbara had received the same kind of recognition for the Ted storyline as the Alan Bradley saga. I remember she appeared on Wogan to discuss it. After the entertaining nonsense of being pursued by Reg in ‘90 and ‘91, Barbara was on top form with these heartbreaking scenes. She knows what tone of voice to use, what facial expressions to make, what little noises to exclaim to wring out all the emotion. Splendid acting. That “it’s a trick…” line 😭 💔

I want a loan from Derek's bank, the one that gives you a loan when you're still technically unemployed and you get a loan for a business that is sound but still belongs to Rita and you have no collateral for the shop.

Poor Derek gets a loan from the Bank Of Corrie, turns down a potential job, and has started the process of selling his house and now his shop ownership is gonna go t*** up just wondering if Rita is gonna tell him before its too late.
@londonlady227 Жыл бұрын
Derek should've taken the job and waited until it was definite regarding the Kabin. Then he could've found an assistant to help Mavis. They would've had two decent jobs. Never turn down a definite offer for a maybe. But he was realistic after it all fell through, Mavis needed to snap out of it. She had it made compared to many but if I was Rita, I would've told them. She did owe Mavis and Derek that.

One slight oversight in the script in the first hour is that Deirdre agreed with Audrey about how great it would be to get a new kitchen. She only had the cupboards replaced about a year ago by that nice Dave bloke, who put out the fire Tracy caused in the kitchen. That was only cupboards, mind you, but still.

Any suggestions of where I shd go back to and start? The more this goes the more I dislike derrick and Mavis, and I haven't from the get go... In the states btw, and thanks so much for taking the time to make these classics accessable to all ❤️
@EveHenleySpread2 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely! Start at April 1976… anything before that will be incomplete as that is the point the cable channel Granada Plus chose to start its repeats way back in the 90s (more specifically it was the return of Elsie Tanner after a 3 year break). So apart from the odd missing episode here and there, it’s all there in monthly videos all the way up to 1999 (I decided not to go any further as by the end of the 90s the show had lost its sparkle.. and it’s never returned despite still being on today). And you’re very welcome by the way, I’m glad you’re able to watch it stateside (and all over the world tbf.. for now! 😉)

@itallia666 Жыл бұрын
This set of episodes has made me so annoyed... which is very entertaining that these Corrie actors are so good, that the story lines & plots are carried out so wonderfully that it seems real! Firstly Mikes underhand, sly, cunning & utterly despicable hoodwinking of Alma Then i wanted to give Alma a Lobotomy for believing Mike was on her side & succumbing to his Manipulations, YET AGAIN !!! We've yet to find out just WHY Mike wants Alma to marry him when he could manage very well To convince a ditzy bimbo to marry him at the drop of a hat Is it because Alma has some capital behind her? It cant be much, not for the likes of Baldwin His professions of love to her are just words to him, hes proved time & again he uses anyone to further his ambitions. 2nd, the fiasco of Mave & stupid pompous derek managing Ritas business while she was away was appalling! They make a human wrecking machine! Reduce any business to matchwood by the rediculous Man/Boy Derek who is utterly hopeless & self aggrandizing to the point of needing psychiatric counselling! Even Mave the Rave retains some common sense! If they purchase Ritas business it will fold dramatically within a few months Derek is a total wash out and with 1st class delusions of grandeur! Shame about Reet & Ted though😢 Little Miss Posh, snot faced, hoity toity Vic -TORIA, should be Confined to quarters on bread & water, what a vile little Brat. Gail is a jelous manipulator too! Hope Martin finds a lovely YOUNG Student Nurse on his course & Buggers off with her & leaves moaning vindictive Gail behind Such goings on, such unrest & Machinations abound! Ive realised that Raquel didnt have a personality change once she started the Rovers ! We just hadnt seen her little Girl, helpless, guileless & innocent act for what it really was Its how she gets on in her world She uses people & casts them aside to climb higher! She puts on her ditzy act, she knows how to grab any male attention by seeming to be helpless & innocent but dont you believe it, she uses her face & body to draw men in, seeing who has the money & status to elevate up lifes ladder! Oldest trick in the book But Sarah Lancashire as Raquel is really amazing to pull off the Sly Raquel to utter perfection She does it so well, shes a very clever intelligent actress indeed. Ok ive had my rant at the characters this month, irate i may be but its to the credit of such accomplished actors who are able to make us feel so many emotions!! Bravo & Brava! Brilliant! 🇬🇧👧
