All the women of country music, if they're talented, are great. One of my all-time favourires besides Kitty Wells was Wilma Lee Cooper.

Jean Shepard did knock down many doors for a lot of other female country singers and Loretta Lynn did the same.

She is a very nice person. I have worked with her many times in my career mixing sound. country music was different than rock. In those days they came normally in a bus with all the band gear under the bus. they used the soound system that was in the venue and when they went into venues that actually had instruments and amplifiers they would come inside and see what there and only get out out of the bus what they needed. I've seen busses all up and down 6 city blocks on both for two shows every Saturday night and very little equipment came through the door. Mostly just guitars and keyboards, sometimes drum if they didn't like the house kit. Country was big in the right spots around the USA and a big star could travel around like that. The manager would call the venue staff a couple of weeks or so before they came into town to sometimes to see what was there then they had a little time to have the venue rent the extra stuff that they needed to do their show. A show with at least one tractor trailer today is crazy but for a star today it would be more like anywhere from 3 to 15 tractor trailers. It's just crazy and nobody just walks in and sings anymore. they want imaging/video, a huge system that any big rock band would use hands down and big lighting system. sometimes pyro and lazers also for damn country show. It's nuts. the fans would still come if they just came and played. Every one is trying to out do each other with bells and whistles.

In my opinion, Patsy kicked the door down for Loretta, Tammy, and the rest. Patsy knew her life was going to be short, so she gave it everything she had.

Connie Smith of course is really the one who unapologetically her entire life has strictly sung "go out and get all the young girls you want and I will faithfully be here waiting to welcome you back keys in the mailbox".. actually she made all the money and could easily have done one for the women but to this day shes a dream come true for the drunken domineering men to go do what they want with the faithful wife sitting at home suffering not able to leave.

Connie was divorced 4 times (I think) when she asked Marty Stuart to produce an album for her around 1995. I don’t think she realized how he’d been in love with her since he was 11 or so as I remember. Connie snagged one of the hottest young single guys then around ~ he was 38. She was 55. They got married within a year or so. They’re still together. Connie was choosy IMOHO.

Love country but it was a sideshow to rock in the 1960s and '70s. Today country shares the stage with a few other styles.

This is a great documentary, but five seconds of fact checking would've revealed that "The Pill" was one of Lynn's few hits that she didn't write. I'm surprised, the BBC is usually more on it.

I get the feeling that Jean is very jealous of Patsy's popularity after her death, she seems very upset at times that Patsy received more attention than her husband.

+Earl Yetman Lets not feed the internet trolls, people. This guy has tried his best to get a rise out of people numerous times on many of the excerpts of this documentary. Admittedly, reading him trying to call anyone other than himself childish or unreasonable is rather amusing though. What a world.
