I think what makes Corrections (and also the quarantine episodes) really shine is that Seth plays silence and even awkward silence REALLY well. Colbert and Noah had a really hard time with finding their grooves when there wasn’t an audience laughing back, but Seth manages to make silence funny and self-deprecating in a personable way. It’s funny when people laugh. It’s funny when people DON’T laugh. He’s just a really good comedian in a wide array of situations.

Hi Seth, thank you for making me genuinely, joyously laugh when I was deep in a 3-week anxiety spiral to a very dark place. This was the spark I needed to begin to pull myself out of it. Please continue doing exactly the comedy YOU love. I say that a bit selfishly, because your sense of humor seems perfectly suited to my own - but also because you deserve it. I've been a LNSM fan from the beginning, and this iteration of the show has made it the most comfortable, genuine, inclusive place in late night without sacrificing any of the sharpness, sarcasm and incisiveness that give it its edge - and you don’t run from quirkiness and silliness, because you know that can all be complimentary. I’m grateful for you and all of Late Night, and for this community. And as a Manhattanite and former NBC-er (affiliate) who still feels like it’s my home network, I love and appreciate how deeply rooted in New York this show still is and how deeply rooted in NBC history it is, especially SNL, of course. I’m so excited to see where things go from here. Oh and as a millennial, people can keep boomer accusations out of their mouths around Corrections. You can tell LNSM isn’t boomer energy because you can’t feel your soul fighting to escape your body as you watch it

Not a correction, but for the curious: That Latin word “munus” has mostly to do with its duty meaning, and its other meanings also hang off of ideas of obligation. It’s office in the sense of “holding office” i.e. a position/job, which it’s your duty to the Roman state to hold, and the gifts in question are mostly funeral gifts/offerings, i.e.things you’re obligated to give to the dead.

Genuine sentiment incoming: what I love most about "Corrections" is that it's never made out to be better or bigger than it is conceptually. It's a relaxing way to decompress with Seth in what seems like his normal state off-camera. We all know Seth is funny but theres no pressure to make everything funny (that said, the spur of a moment witty asides are funnier than anything in Big Bang Theory etc...), and not every correction has to be interesting. Considering 99% of "comedy" on youtube is an assault on the senses, this is a pleasant reprieve.

Actually "confetti" is Italian, not Latin. So the singular is confetto. That said. Confetti in Italian are what you in English call confections (those candies you see at babtisms or weddings mostly). What you call confetti in Italian is "coriandoli" (Coriandolo singular)

@caramia19952 жыл бұрын
@@simonebuonvicino9788 Same here. Hope it makes it the next CORRECTIONS😂
@TheNitrop2 жыл бұрын
To be more accurate, the italian confetto comes from latin "Confectum" (made, prepared), think about the words "confection" and "confectionery" as you already said. The reason behind this misuse of the word, comes from the tradition of distributing and even tossing confetti (sugared almonds) of different colours during Italian wedding ceremonies. This use was soon adopted by other cultures, but many started using "coriandoli" instead, since cheaper and more affordable, while still calling those, erroneously, confetti. It's a bit the same thing that happened to Peperoni and Pepperoni pizza. In Italian "Peperoni" is just plural of "peppers", the big, non spicy ones. At some point there was confusion in which was what... and now everybody thinks that a specific type of italian "salame" is actually called Pepperoni. Oh well... poor salami.

A meta-correction, if I may. The "Corrections" playlist on KZbin is ordered from most to least recent. Seth himself has commented as to how Corrections is meant to be seen as a whole - the entire ouvre. But in order to follow that advice, you have to *not* watch the playlist in its natural order, but to manually select each episode, before the next one in the playlist auto-plays. It just occurred to me: this may not be a mistake, but a deliberate hurdle. Hmm...

Seth. Listen to me. I never buy merch. I went to Disney world and left with nothing but a stomach full of what they had the audacity to call chicken. I sell merch. I know exactly what the Purchase Markup is. I don’t buy merch. But if there was Corrections merch available- like maybe a Jackal crew neck available at somewhere around $55? Yeah. I’d buy it. It's like why I listen to freewheeling podcasts. Just sucked into the thrall of an entertainer's personality and that Seth in this small way has made himself that much more accessible to us. I am super grateful and it's why, even from Australia as an expat, Seth is the best late night host, now that Conan is gone.

Correction: Confetto/i is Italian and means "sweet/s". It comes from the Latin Confectum, "something assembled". To put something together is "Confecere". Capisce? Italian for "He understands." Munus as "office" means the position held, not the place of work. "The office of Senator is a license to make money."

Yes, Italian not Latin, which was only mentioned about 50 times by helpful jackals!!

But "confetti" is an English word. Which may come from Italian, which may come from Latin. So why do people keep saying it's an Italian word when it is used in the English language as.... "confetti". These corrections are not correct.
