I actually worked the new road house film here in the Dominican Republic and I actually met Eric Linden (which was really cool because i recognized him from the channel). It was very cool set and Eric was super chill and down to earth. I am grateful for that fangirling moment.

I always thought the fight scene from the end of SERENITY on the planet could really use a great breakdown. Two actors really conveying how much pain the fight is causing them and the moves are pretty brutal. Give it a go!!!!

One thing I want to add about "The Hunted" knife scene is that there's no music playing during their fight scene. It's just them at the waterfall until close to the very end with a slow build and a holding sound. Amazing scene and ending for that film.

Also, the sound effects are not over the top. So often someone hits someone in a movie and it sounds like an explosion or something instead of just a fist hitting a face.

That scene was so visceral and realistic, it actually put you on the edge because there was minimal bullshit hollywood combat moves, it was mostly two guys trying to kill each other with double-edged knives and both just barely not getting sliced in important parts. I love seeing scenes like that in films, because it's so much more immersive and connects you to the characters easily.

The same is true of "Deliverence" from the 70's . Short of the fabled dueling banjos scene , there is next to no music in the entire movie . One of the most dramatic scenes has nothing but ambient noise in it.

Being from Portland, OR where it was filmed, I couldn't get past how he jumps off a bridge in downtown and ends up knifefighting at the Willamette falls paper mill in Oregon City/West Linn 18 miles upstream

There is an Indonesian film called The Night Comes for Us, it is two hours, of which 90 minutes is some of the most brutal fight sequences I've seen in film. In particular, the final fight sequence between the two main characters tells a very distinct story while also just being incredibly intense.

For dissecting explosions done in the medium of film, I recommend the most memorable recorded explosion I've ever seen. It was in a movie called We Were Soldiers starring Mel Gibson. I was caught completely off guard when I saw that shot of the explosion as its movement was quite unique in the moment.

Yes! We Were Soldiers has some incredible explosions and fire work. The planes flying in dropping bombs and napalm were insane.

@@edderz101 Yeah, if I remember right from the BTS, they CGI'd the planes and did all the explosions for real because it looked way better than doing to reverse. And the scene where the napalm hits too close to the American lines... that's some serious fire stunt work that looked flawless. Love that movie.

That fire scene in Frankenstein was incredible! I had not seen that one before. I've done some minor fire stunts, but it pales in comparison. I watched those last 4 minutes with absolute awe. Thanks for the insights!

Old school UK classic is Michael Crawford in the sitcom Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. The actor did all his own stunts in each episode. The Rollerskating scene is one of the more well known ones, but there's quite a lot of stunts/gags to choose from.

I once read his description of the stunt where he tries to take the dolls house from the top floor. At one point his own arm was being pulled across his throat, choking him.

As someone with a few years of experience in aikido - the safest way to do most of the techniques is to actually do them for real and have the other person do a proper breakfall. You can't really fake them or hide them behind a clever camera angle. The worst injury I've sustained while training was when my partner tried to protect me - and instead of throwing me full force, he caught me and stopped my fall in the middle right after he performed a throwing technique on me. The result - I sprained my ankle really badly. I could barely walk for weeks after that. The locking and throwing techniques in the John Wick franchise are obviously done for real. There are two problems here. One - stuntmen back then weren't really prepared for Seagal's style of fight choreography. Before him fight scenes in Hollywood were basically kicking and punching, throws were rare and wristlocks were unheard of. Two - even if you do a technique for real, that doesn't mean you should do it like he does them here. I mean, sankyo ( 8:57 ) is a dangerous wristlock. It can mess up your entire arm. You shouldn't do it so fast to someone who isn't prepared to take it. He had a reputation for hurting people on set and I honestly think this is unforgivable.

I’ve only done Aikido for a couple of years, but among many things my Sensei has taught is to always be respectful of your opponent: be aware of their limits and don’t try and push past them. That being said it’s nice to see someone who also does Aikido, since it’s not as popular as others 😊

It's good, but usually only memorable because Viggo is bare. But you can definitely see the choreography beats in that one becuse you could tell they were being EXTRA careful. Any time you can see the beats in choreography it can really take away from the film. That is one of the reasons I really love Steven Seagal's earlier films, because they had no beats, which was pretty revolutionary at the time (and it's why his earlier films still hold up to this day when it comes to the fight scenes).

I would love to see Stuntmen react to The Fall Guy. It was a cheesey 80s adventure TV show about a stuntman/bountyhunter. There are some real awful fights, but in the pilot episode there's also an argument about whether a stunt would be safe that I'd love to see if there's an realism to it.

When you're able to get the footage, I suggest one of the many fight scenes in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Specifically the 1v10 fight in the forge with the barbarian and the solderers. I'm not a professional but I was thoroughly impressed with the choreography and VFX of the whole movie. I think it would be worth your guy's time! Love the show! Keep it up!

They're not the most bombastic fights out there, but with the premise being that most of humanity is blind, a lot of the fights have amazing moments that really drive home how different combat would be if both/all participants were trained to fight with no sight.

Road House, for me at least, has that certain vibe that you usually get from watching movies you watched as a kid, but somehow still makes you just forget everything around you for the duration of the film when watching as an adult. This, along with Beverly Hills Cop 2, Kindergarten Cop, Rush Hour, Ace Ventura, Joe Dirt, Weekend at Bernie's & Speed, are some of my go-to-movies if I just want to have some fun action/comedy to relax to. And I'd much rather have a pair of greasy mullets throwing punches I can see don't hit, rather than the CGI frenzy we get now with so little substance to them.

Suggestion: Stargate SG1, S9 E2 ("Avalon Part 2") 1995: the scene where Vala is burned alive. I remember something of the behind-the-scenes where apparently the stunt actor was pretty darn close to actually burning and/or suffocating due to the strict timing/beats of the sequence, if I remember correctly! I don't think it's quite as spectacular as some of the stunts previously covered, but I'd be interested in your thoughts about the sequence and execution. I feel it was an awesome and shocking scene for the storyline, and absolutely not expected for SG:1 in my eyes - it was quite brutal compared to the rest of the series I think.

Good idea - I recall an episode of Doctor Who "Inferno" from the 1970's, it had profression stunt actors leaping off high structures in an industrial complex and it looked WAY more dangerous than it needed to be for the production budget.

Another great movie with a well choreographed knife fight is The Man From Nowhere, really fast uncooperative fights. An all knife fight episode would be awesome!

I have to say, I watched Rumble In The Bronx for the first time a few weeks ago because of y'all's show- anyone who HASN'T seen it NEEDS TO, it's one of those movies where the entire time I'm just blown away, can't turn off 'filmmaker' brain and noticing little things about the pacing and framing and action. Genuinely a great movie, one of the rare instances I've seen of action that flows like music.

I had the chance to be part of John Wick 4 french stunt team and for the stunts I definitely recommand checking on Vincent Bouillon's stairfall (Keanu Reeves Double) in Montmartre Sacré Coeur and for the VFX : the Arc de Triomphe scene and the full top shot sequence with the Dragon Breath gun ;) Still watching your videos, you guys are fantastic ❤

The end fight scene in The Wolfman 2010 between Benicio del Toro and Anthony Hopkins characters is a great combination of stunt work, practical effects, and digital effects. It's honestly one of my favorites. it's so well done on every level. I know you've covered it before in some capacity, but... Damn, it's just such a good scene.

Although I know how they did it, I would love to see you react to one of my all-time favorite movies: Where Eagles Dare. The cable car sequence used rear projection, a cable car set, and a model of the landscape. Plus the jump from the cable car into the river was intense too.

Robocop has some cool stunts. I love the final chase because in the middle of the chase, a hub cap rolls off the car and at the camera, barely missing it. In good bad and the ugly, clint eastwood was really in front of the bridge that got blown up and you can see a fist sized rock land a foot away from his head in the shot.
