I think Sam’s was almost the exact opposite of satisfying. It was incredibly well made, but way too loud and abrasive. And the smoke becoming solid wasn’t nearly as satisfying in actuality, as in theory. I thought the statues becoming liquid/snow would be amazing. But it also fell pretty flat imo. Again, amazing looking render, just not satisfying. Hedgehog. AMAZING LOOKING. Too ambitious, but I did love the board slotting in. Wren KILLED it. The sound design, absolutely amazing. Nailed it. The result of having the scene become perfect (with the pieces fitting flush to surface), is exactly what was needed.

Immensely satisfying: Niko always saying which program or which plug-in for a program he's using. Do I understand what any of it means? Well... no. But it's satisfying to know that people who do know what that means can access those same tools to do cool things.

So satisfied by Wren's. I think Peter's biggest lesson is to adjust his ambitions for the time he has. Dude is crazy talented but the other guys have been doing this long enough to know what is doable in the amount of time they had. Can't wait to see what Peter comes up with when he has the actual time to do it.

Yeah, I remember beeple saying something about that before. Thought it was a bit rude at first, but I think there’s some sense to keeping it simple as he said I think.

Wren's was fantastic! I would love to see Peter's finished! I think Sam's concept was interesting but the sound design was a bit aggressive, and I was really bothered by the fact that the incorrect shapes were also pushed in the same direction as the correct ones. I think it would have been more satisfying to see them pushed off in the opposite direction (and maybe disintegrate/dissolve) as they go off-screen, like trying to take a companion cube through the dematerializer screen in Portal).

OH i can SO agree with JustRecently, perfect critique of Sam's work. I liked the images, but those two things really bothered me. And it wasn't even what he explained in the beginning, he wanted to have some alert or so and have it dismantled, not just pushed onto the "completed products" pile.

I would have been so satisfied seeing Niko's initial squash animation drip down into a mold that then set and prepared the same statue to be squashed indefinitely in a loop
@theNimboo3 жыл бұрын
Niko's main problem was it had poor cinematic timing. He lingered way too long after each event. The first squish happens, and we are still focused on the glass as the particles settle, but then even after they settle and very little is going on, still we are looking at it, it felt so obviously off.

Wren, so satisfying. That loop is perfectly smooth, no beginning, no end. Stylish choice of sound, colour and light, clear lines of movement in both the objects and the camera. Elegant simplicity that can only be achieved by a moment's stroke of brilliance, extremely dedicated hard work or, ideally, both.
