If you're dealing with tree roots like that, wouldn't schedule 40 PVC be a better option? Also, why not connect the channel drain directly to the drainage system by the fence?

Do you tape the seams of the sediment trap where the top and bottom pieces come together?

Yes we do. Every joint/seam gets taped up

How does sediment find its way out of a pop-up?

It doesn’t, pop ups require maintenance. Need to be regularly cleaned to work properly.

I see you never put sediment traps on your pvc projects are they necessary for pvc?

We have started using sediment traps more often now but for PVC or corrugated systems as long as you have an access point/ clean out in the beginning of the run and the system was built right it can be flushed out relatively easily.
