Even in the cops correction of the arrest, he lied by saying that he told this suspect that he was going to be under arrest, which the cop never said. The cop grabbed the man's arm and said now you're being disorderly and then directly took him to the ground. At no time did the cop say I'm placing you under arrest put your hands behind your back. It was simply an immediate assault.

Just to be clear, I'm not condoning this officer throwing the guy to the ground and arresting him. If you're only dropping someone off or picking someone up, then it's fine to stop in the bus/ fire lane for a couple minutes (that's 2 minutes or less). But if you're stopped for longer or you need to exit your vehicle, just find a parking space.

The cop didn't have to right a citation and maybe even would have just let the guy go with a warning, but if he is being an twat why would you extend that favor? The parking was absolutely a ticketable offence. The tint was an offence. The issue is entirely with the arrest. I don't think the cop did anything wrong up until then. That prick deserved those tickets. He didn't deserve the assault.

I had a cop say that to me and it was finally my time to shine! They get so mad when you point out what they're doing wrong and violating your rights etc so when a cop said where did you get your law degree from I said "Columbia, wherw did you get yours from?" He got mad and walked away. His partner then only spoke to me and the encounter ended quickly after that. The guy was embarrassed.

@@onion... - the point I am making, or trying to make, is that there is an actual difference between stopping (and staying with your vehicle) for a short period and parking for a longer period (and leaving your vehicle unattended). And that difference is important if the whole reason for restricting parking/stopping in the marked of area is to ensure that fire fighters can get unhindred access to a building. Remember, the law only defines what is legal and what is illegal. It does not define what is right or wrong. In this case I find nothing wrong with the police parking there car there or directing the woman to pull over into the restricted area. They are all able to quickly vacate the area if needed.

All because he's too lazy to park at the far end of the lot and walk to the store. And the guy looked like once he was getting tickets, he was more interested in standing around yelling at people and throwing a tantrum fit for a 2 year old. So the cop threw his own 2 year old tantrum and pulled out the handcuffs. What the cop should have done is try to deescalate the hot head and stay nearby in case the hothead did actually start committing crimes or looked like he was about to. Not go and pre-emptively arrest the guy when he's just being an idiot.

I call this a classic case of "two wrongs don't make a right." The cop overreacted to an asshole. He may have had the right to be an asshole, just be aware that when being an asshole, you're likely to trigger others to be assholes right back, even if they're normally nice guys.

I'm not defending this officer at all, but the tint did turn out to be illegal. I'm not sure how the owner was expected to drive it home without also getting a ticket (wind the windows down, maybe?). Wasn't there also a mention of no insurance?

The cop telling the employees to use the word "moron" in the announcement is so far beyond disrespectful. I would have reported him to the department just for that!
