On 10-27-24, an Oklahoma police officer slammed a 71 year old Vietnamese man to the ground, fracturing his orbital socket, causing a lot of blood loss, etc. It was on the news here, and can be found on KZbin as well, video from a business security camera was very clear. Was terrible. The Oklahoma Attorney General, Gettner Drummond, later dismissed the charges and case against the police officer. I would like very much for you to look into this occurrence, an give your evaluation. The 71 year old man was, and may even still be in the hospital. I would like to thank, yet again, the kind and understanding police officers who treated my father with the utmost respect during the beginning stages of my father. He was a disabled veteran with dementia. Our local police department helped my family FORCE the VA to look more into his mental state. Leading to his diagnosis of dementia. The VA is much worse than any and all LE officials. They said for years there was nothing wrong with my father and that he had ear blockage... one VA social worker, who I reported and she was fired, told my mother and I to drop my, at the time, 70 year father off at a homeless shelter 45 miles away from our home and 25 miles away from the VA so that he "could not find his way home or back to the VA". Just an fyi.. that is a felony... to abandoned a person over the age of 60 and to add an extra felony do so to a person 60+ with mental disorders. I hope that woman's life is beyond horrible. I hope it's unbearable, and still, that wouldn't be enough.

Qualified Immunity is only for lawsuits. These cops need prison, not lawsuits. They don't pay lawsuits themselves, and they don't learn anything from lawsuits. Maybe they'll learn something from prison. Or 2a, whichever. p.s. Before people start saying Abolish Qualified Immunity! that's largely irrelevant. Even without QI they're usually indemnified, which means they still pay nothing themselves. Also, for example, Colorado officially abolished QI but also set a very low cap: $25k as I recall. But they're not indemnified for prison. Nobody is going to get locked up for them.

Actually, there is no law in the states for having done a drug, only for having it on your person or giving it to someone. Even DUI isn't a charge for intoxicants, but a charge for operating a vehicle while under the influence of such. Many drugs, the possession charge is for any amount and the penalty doesn't change for the amount difference, but might be an indicator of intent to distribute, however a person might be able to prove if it was all for personal use and get the distribution charge tossed.

I won't ever forget driving my dad back from a doctor visit and getting pulled over by an officer. At the time, my dad was battling COPD and could barely move around because of his condition. That didn't stop the police from ordering him out of the car, putting him against the vehicle for a pat down, and acting as if his oxygen tank could be used as a weapon. I pleaded he stayed in the car, but it was met with indifference and hostility. Then "put your hands behind your back". 5) Officer then rotates Mr Henderson left and right to get Mr Hendersons out from underneath him to handcuff him. There is ZERO way that the unconscious Mr Henderson could both have his hands underneath his body AND be holding on to the officer. What's the point of issuing a Silver alert if the cops on the street don't (apparently) get the memo so they could use that information to conduct their stops? Regardless, both the officer, and likely his department, are criminally negligent in not having the most basic knowledge to evaluate an individual on scene to determine at least the possibility that there might be a cognitive issue with someone, especially in such an obvious case as this gentleman. Thick cops immediately jump to the conclusion that it's illegal drug use and never consider for one second that an elderly man wearing mismatched shoes might have mental issues.
