Corsair is like the only few brands that actually make decent stock cables for their PSU's (the fully modular ones at least...) and I really appreciate it because as the happy owner of an RM650 80+ Gold power supply, this unit has been working flawlessly and completely silent for it's entire life becuase my system is a GTX 970 and i7-2600 with 2 hard drives so power draw is around 300 watts. This thing rocks and at 100 USD, It's quite good value too. I'd recommend cosrair for almost any build!

In the UK (and probably the rest of Europe) we have 230V mains and our plugs are fused at 13A as a normal maximum so it's possible to get 2990W at 100% efficiency. Of course, you can swap the fuse in the plug for something higher easily since the actual circuit is 25A fused (I believe, in my house at least) but that's almost definitely out of spec for the plugs and sockets. Fun fact: most people will probably get closer 240V in the UK though but we're only really supposed to be 230V to standardise with Europe and the European 230V tolerances encompass 240V so it is actually standard.

@WildBaws10 жыл бұрын
Providing you have a good enough CPU and GPU for Crysis, then yes. However, Crysis isn't going to be reliant on your psu, it's going to rely more on your graphics card honestly. Thing with that is, if you have a horrid CPU, then you'll also have issues running it.

Effectious really? i have an i7 4770 3.40ghz they said dpends on what other components you have in your system would that be good? and thank you for the response
@dedompler9 жыл бұрын
I'll put it this way- 600 watt is the minimum recommended for SLI. 500w is more than enough. For some reason, some "enthusiasts" or "experts" insist that a 750w PSU is needed for a single graphics card build... Which is bullshit, really. All you *need* is around 450-600 watts and modular capability. More watts doesn't mean more performance. That "wiggle room" isn't necessary unless you plan on running a shit AMD eight core volcano and two GPU's.
@robertgonzalez60469 жыл бұрын
Effectious lmao "eight core volcano " so what youre saying is my 500w PSU could run a 970? and possibly a 980? and obviously no overclocking

Linus, I must give you the credit you deserve for the way you’ve built your on-line presence and without a doubt, now turn a comfortable profit mark, I’m sure. I don’t always agree with your summations or even a few of your self-proclaimed understandings of certain processes regarding the building of above average powerful computers. That said, (accept it or not), you’ve finally convinced me that you know what you’re doing when it comes to marketing yourself and as a result, gaining a stronghold on product marketing! The manufacturers of the products you review may not always like what they hear in your ‘final thoughts’ on their product, (no one hits a 100%). However, the ones that pay attention and know good marketing when they see it will dust themselves off and know it will certainly do good to continue hoping for your review of their next release. Incidentally, your dialog is great and holds a witty and interesting edge in each line as you do the review. I would like to suggest a way to reduce that ‘red face’ effect that everyone keeps mentioning, (yes, your face and neck do tend to get red). Definitely keep writing the dialog as you have been but simply reduce the length of the sentences. By reducing the sentence length, you get a slightly longer chance to inhale and you get to do it more often. I’m one who, like you, prefers to use commas and long sentences because it keeps a ‘flow to the thought’. However, I found that it causes me to breath irregularly and eventually, I begin to go into some kind of increasingly uncomfortable ‘mini hyperventilation’ process. If you end the sentence where you typically would have placed a comma, you might remove the red-face thing entirely. Granted, at first, it may mean a small increase in the dialog until you get the ‘hang of it’. It may take a little practice to adjust your timing to the shorter sentences but it’ll be worth it. You’ll feel more comfortable and less like your racing for the last sentence on the scroll card, (or whatever those note panels under the camera lens are called). Just a suggestion FWIW but still, my ‘hat’s off ‘ to you for the hard work you’ve done to get yourself a solid slot on Google. BTW; seriously, ‘sandals’? I know you guys refuse to be a ‘slave to fashion’, (that Zuckerberg apparel never looked good on Zuckerberg), but it wouldn’t hurt you to pitch the “I’m just a regular schmoe like you” look, and maybe add a bit more respect to your jeans-n-sandals wardrobe.

However as far as the durability of Corsair's power supplies, after ordering an RM850 watt PSU for a client build due to all of the noise made online as well as Linus' recommendation and praise, I found that the 24 PIN cable had a broken clasp, and the cables overall had a brittle seeming plastic. Excellent, now I just need something that needs that much power.

I've been losing interest in computers lately, but this power supply still makes me want to build a giant, overkill rig just for bragging rights. That's the power of a beast power supply made by a company known for quality.

Just doing my due diligence: The Silverstone ST1500 has been out for many many years already. It has 8 12V rails, and excellent power output + quality(hardocp review), and the same 1500W peak continuous rating.. It is "only" 80 PLUS Silver, but it also is "only" some 68% of the 1500i's MSRP. Saying something is the best requires at least a modicum of industry research. This is the best *Corsair* PSU, but that's a different evaluation.

In the UK, we have 240V and 13Amp rated plug sockets.. So about 3.1KW per socket!
@TheDutyPaid10 жыл бұрын
It never gets as high as 240v you find it around 225 to 235v also if you was trying to pull 3.1kW from say a socket in your living room it would blow the main fuse, that is why a electric cooker is on it's own dedicated circuit.

"at 224mm long, it's the biggest power supply that I've ever used" And i'm still rocking my Enermax Galaxy DxX 1000w from 2007 at a staggering 220mm long. Still the heaviest thing in my case too.

Great! So, I've been watching this video of the AX1500i and I was thinking about what else to do with such a power supply. I'm building my own tiny house and I'm now wondering if I can power other stuff with the AX1500i? All 12V things like laptops with car/travel adapter, mini fridge, cell phone, water heater, small 12V microwave? All that stuff.. love to see a video!!
