Recently installed my first custom water kit and I won't go back to air unless there are space concerns. I didn't consider a small pre-built kit like the ones from Corsair because I wasn't convinced about the performance aspect of the kit. I'm likely to put one into a build for someone else, however.

I'm using the Skythe Mugen 2 rev. B and the H100 in my systems, but aircooling does seem to perform exactly the same... Only the H100 is a little bit more quiet. So, I'm going for aircooling next time, much cheaper, better reliability.

What I would like to see is a wet cooler where you wouldn't need fans at all... not to use it for overclocking, but to have a high end processor and achieve reasonable temps even under full load, completely without external fans. Is there even such a thing?
@remnant2411 жыл бұрын
If you want your entire case to be a heatsink, yeah, but that won't be pretty, cheap, or practical. Heat has to be evacuated in some way.
@Beef118811 жыл бұрын
remnant24 But the radiators do that, don't they? If you have top air vents and you mount the radiators on the top, then the heat will rise and dissipate, all you would need then is to have enough surface area on the radiators themselves and let physics take care of the air flow.
@DenverJohnBradley11 жыл бұрын
BigBadBeef what you're looking for would be mounting the radiator on the top, but on the outside. not so sure how that'd perform, but that way, it wont hinder the rest of the pc
@remnant2411 жыл бұрын
BigBadBeef Air won't come in or out on its own. You need airflow, otherwise the heat from the components will build up inside the case. Rads transfer heat from liquid to air, they don't provide airflow. In fact, they hinder it. Which is why you need fans: to push fresh air in and hot air out.
@DenverJohnBradley11 жыл бұрын
remnant24 yeah, fans are a part of basic PC needs. but BigBadBeef's comment was a non fan reliant cooling solution, so watercooling everything and putting the radiator(s) outside is all I can come up with.

I've always have used air cooling. I must say I'm interested in the idea of the liquid cooling solution that I don't have to worry about maintaining, but it also makes me uneasy to introduce a liquid into a system that is not going to play nice in the event of a leak/failure. I'd like to see how reliable and lasting this product is compared to others of similar size.

Air ftw. Sure these AIO's look cool in a windowed build but if you are a person that just wants stuff to work and last, a beefy air heatsink like a NHD-14 is just the better option imo.

I went with a Corsair H90 AIO water cooling unit on my rig that I just put together last week, actually. Performance is fantastic! My AMD FX-8350 idles @ 8-12°C, and while running Prime95 for 45 minutes straight temps never rose above 39°C. The 140mm radiator fan makes very little noise at all, and is only audible during benchmarking or stress testing. In-game it's silent. I was going to do air cooling, but a lot of the better reviewed air cooling units suck big fat balls on AMD sockets. It's tough nailing down one based on 2D pictures that will be compatible with your chosen motherboard while not obstructing RAM slots (even worse if you have high-profile DIMMs, like the Vengeance Pro kit I'm using), or VRM heatsinks, etc. Especially when a lot of manufacturers don't provide very detailed measurement specs. I'm glad I went with an AIO water cooler, performance is top notch, installation was dead simple, price was reasonable (picked up the H90 on sale at Newegg for $73 shipped), and noise pollution is non-existent.

Stripped mounting hole on the H80i just after the first installation and a damaged Sniper button on my M65 mouse just after a couple of months of use. I own from Corsair 24gb worth of ram, a 350D, H80i, M60, M65 and a 600watts PSU, and even tho I love all those products, I'll be thinking twice about their build quality next time I look into their products.

I use a H110 with my FX8350. It's great, in the sense that I don't give a second thought about my temps or noise whilst gaming, the only thing that may ramp up is my graphics card. I'm running a Noctua NH-D14 on my overclocked 3820. Had the same heatsink on my old platform, x58 with a overclocked 930. Before this I had a Corsair H50, but I found out that for the same price I could get a NH-D14 with better cooling then the H50. So now I have no cooling problems what so ever. The watercooler in my work PC exploded, and a friends Intel watercooler the pump stopped working and made the CPU throttle. So no more watercooling for me. Try to make a hybrid CPU cooler. So when the pump fails you still have cooling from the fan.

I used to water cool years ago because any decent equipment was power hungry and ran hot. My old 8800GTS 320mb would double as a space heater along with my 920. I had many builds with custom watercooling loops for both gpu and cpu. It was a PAIN to do any maintenance. To upgrade. To deal with seals leaking and pumps giving up. Then the monster sized air coolers with heat pipes advanced. My 4770K draws way less power than that 920. The gpu cooling has gotten better as well. Its so much easier to deal with and no pump to worry about. If the fan dies on my cpu cooler it sinks enough to not just fry. Not to mention the cost is a 10th of what some of the water cooling setups ran. Nowadays I can just slap on a hyper 212 evo on just about anything and can achieve a decent overclock result. It leaves a little extra in my pocket. Any slight fan noise can't be heard over my headphones.

Why doesn't corsair make the tubes and the rad much thicker and pout a really powerful pump on it so the performance is as good if not better than a custom loop.

I agree Slick. Completely. We need a Corsair 120i. The 280mm size of the H110, the thickness of the H105 and the higher functions of the H100i. That's what I want, anyway. That might attract me compared to a custom loop, unlike the trio of current products from Corsair.

I still run an air cooler in my main tower, its a cooler master gtv6 but the fans have been replaced with bitfenix specter pros. with that set up even at heavy load my cpu only hits 54° C.

As of now I'm running two H100s, on two Opteron 2435s in a Rosewill Black hawk Ultra case. Lots of room in my case, can you suggest a water cooling setup for a pair of HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 cards. I have mounting spots for 80, 120, 140, and 220mm fans.

I have been running the original H100, and i prefer that style, because it has the button on the top to control the fan and pump speed manually. But yes, i agree, i would like a H110 size with H105 thickness, but i would still like the manual control

I want more focus on the expandable aio market, I personally run a AMD aio (basically an antec920) but am interested in upgrading to a cooler master glacier once the 360 version comes out.

I myself have been interested in passive air, these all-in-one coolers just don't seem "solid" enough. They're pretty, sure. For me the problem is the long time performance, since there is going to be corrosion inside the loop. Solid copper coolers don't lose their cooling potential over time - if it's not full of dust. The NoFan passive cooler is something I'd like to see, but in a way that it could be done in a smaller size and still be able to cool high end processors. Like something of a Noctua's NH-D14 size. I'd like to see more passive options to every possible cooler (gpu, cpu, motherboard) in the high end hardware. Think about having a GTX 760 / 770 with a passive cooler. It would be massive, but still it would be passive. Though I'd still have to install some fans so my tinnitus wouldn't drive me crazy.

Just purchased a H110 for my 8350. Awesome cooler. It would be nice to see a 110i though...

Im using a very basic all in one water cooling rad, seidon 120v. only because it came free with my case and is doing a good job of cooling my i5 4670k at 4Ghz. Would defo think about getting this rad as an upgrade over the h100i if its cheaper in the future

I find my CM 212 EVO with two Arctic F12 PWM in push-pull very effective with my 2500K at 4.5GHz... Never exceeded 62-63C during gaming or Prime95 with 22-23C ambient temp. It's very quiet, and since I use my Sennheiser HD518 it wouldn't really matter if it was louder.

I run air ATM but i think these self contained liquid coolers are the future for both CPU and GPU cooling, and my next build will use them.

I just purchased one of these on Amazon. One of the tubes looks like it fell apart and leaked all over the box at some point I'm not sure. All I know is when I opened it everything as wet and moist. I contacted Amazon and they sent me another one in the mail hopefully this one is all in one piece. Quality control must be really bad...
